  • We've been using the FREE version of Argo Navigation Boating App on boat trips for about 2 years now and had a chance to test out their new paid Premium version & features this summer while it was still in development (we even gave feedback that made it into the app!) Argo is a super easy to use navigation app for autorouting boat trips and already comes with tons of FREE navigation & social boating features, but you can take it to the next level with Premium app version. We'll review what you get with Premium so you can decide if its worth it to upgrade!

    ABOUT MY BOAT LIFE CHANNEL
    If you love the boat life, then My Boat Life is the channel for you!
    My Boat Life is a recreational boating lifestyle channel where we share a little bit of our boat life. We like to focus on family boating & boating with kids (you'll see our boat girls quite a bit) along with some boating know-how and best practices for recreational boating and gear. We are not liveaboards or vloggers - just your average weekend boaters making the most out of each season on the water. We also work in the marine industry so you'll see off-season boat show highlights and other new trends in boating. See more on our boating lifestyle sites MyBoatLife.com and BoaterKids.com.

    This video sold me on getting the premium. Over the winter months I've enjoyed planning trips on my laptop at home.

    Does the maps show your location when in offline mode? Will it utilize the GPS chip? Thank you

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes it uses gps so you can still see your location on the map with offline mode

    How do I transfer routes to my chartplotter? Thanks.

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před 2 měsíci

      You need Premium but it’s easy.. Open a route or track to view the details, tap the dots in the upper right corner and select Export as GPX File. You can email it to you or choose other options to export the file. How you import it into your Chartplotter depends on device type.

    Does it allow you to set a drift alarm? Looking to replace the app we currently use and that is a feature I really value for overnights on anchor.

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před rokem +1

      Not yet - but I’m told anchor/drift alarm is on their list of premium features coming soon.

    Hi guys, how do you change the location for weather/tide on the Argo app. It's currently showing Bush River, which isn't too far off, but it has to be changeable for folks that don't live on the Chesapeake

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před rokem +1

      Hey the weather should update based on whatever area you are showing on the map - may have to zoom in a bit to the area for the weather spot to update, and I think tap the weather to update it. If you still have problems hit the feedback in the app - developer is super responsive!

  • @CaptainTodd

    Do you use the app on your cell phone or do you have an Ipad or tablet set up?

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před rokem +1

      We still use it on my cell phone - been meaning to set up a tablet, it does work on that… and they are coming out with a desktop version too for people who want to plan trips with computer screen.

  • @CaptainTodd

    Ive been using the app almost all summer, best app available on the market. I went places my long time boaters are afraid to try!!! My concern with the paid version is that with all the added features it will get too confusing. I love the simplicity of it and dont want that compromised. Have you noticed a difference?

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před rokem +1

      Awesome!! Yeah it’s so easy to use! Premium is not confusing at all - there’s not added stuff on the screen or anything weird.. like offline you just go to settings & choose area of map to download so you have it if you need it… weather just expands to more info when you tap on it - other stuff coming out should be pretty seamless too. .. I’ve been seeing previews 👀

      @@CaptainTodd yep Jeff is great! And honestly $20/year is worth it for the extras that are coming - we spend more than that 1 night at the bar! 😂

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yep unlimited charts from Canada down into Caribbean - you can download for free & zoom in around areas to see the depth numbers but yeah, it’s there!

    this is a good app but it absolutely murders your battery. I thought it was maybe just my older iphone 11Max pro phone but after upgrading to the 15 Max Pro I still have the same battery drain. I'm not sure why this app draws so much more power than say other navigation maps like google maps etc. I'm still within cell phone range as I'm just using it on southern CT along Long Island sound. It's not a showstopper since I have a 12v charger on the dash but it's not clear why the power draw.

    • @blakebuchanan1420
      @blakebuchanan1420 Před 3 měsíci

      I'm guessing the app cashes no map data and is constantly trying to download??

    • @MyBoatLife
      @MyBoatLife  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I would send your feedback to the developer Captain Jeff he responds personally to emails at support or through the app - it may already be on their list of improvements coming out!
