    Nigel's readings of the Discworld novels are legendary to me. No one did it better

      Was just about to mention this. Although Briggs was good, I just preferred Nigel. Shame some of the early ones had weird effects when he was playing DEATH.

      OMG. I saw your comment and thought I must have made it. I was literally about to post the exact same words. Neil is cool and all, but Planer's audio work on Discworld is brilliant, especially the Night Watch. Carrot is probably my favourite.

    Listened to the whole thing on the website, and I think this was one of the best flowing, most comfortable chats you've done in quite some time. Well done Rich! Really good stuff, and I hope (just as much as you by the sounds of it!) that you can manage get him back on again at some stage.

    Such an amazing career and another great episode.
    I hope you’re all out there buying tickets for the RHLSTP (RHLST) tour. I’ve got 4 people coming along to the Canterbury show and cannot wait!
    I’ve watched/listened to every single episode (some multiple times), and chipped in with kickstarters when I could but never got round to seeing an episode live. Can’t wait!!

    Nigel's performance in Spaghetti Hoops, a lesser known Comic Strip episode, is the best of his "creepy" Comic Strip roles.

    All of Nigels comedy characters were gold and will last forever, my personal favs alongside the young ones were all his comic strip performances.

    the pervy uncle and my mind goes to Richard in TM (which he was probably alluding to) . It very impressive on one hand and also one of the funniest things on TV in years.

      @furq3995 Hello. The narcissists I know refuse to acknowledge that there's any negative comments about them at all. I would say it's narcissistic to reply to people saying nice stuff about you - what's to add? You're right, I am great. I just think it's fun to reply to people who bother to put up negative opinions or who demonstrate their own prejudices (usually about the guest). So I do that. I certainly don't love myself and am my own worst critic. Though my self-criticism is mediocre at best. So back to the old cocking board Dr Freud.

    • @Herring1967
      @Herring1967  Před 11 měsíci

      It's pretty weird, for example, to keep returning to the page of someone you don't like and commenting on stuff. But you do you. I won't try to diagnose you.

    • @Herring1967
      @Herring1967  Před 11 měsíci

      @furq3995 You're making a presumption. I am a comedian.It takes an awful lot to touch a nerve. You are reading my replies in the wrong tone of voice. Like I say, not much to say to praise. Unusually, I think, I like to engage with the negative comments, partly due to fascination about what makes people make them. I don't expect or want everyone to like me. So it doesn't hurt when someone doesn't like it, but nothing wrong with having a conversation with them. Who knows? Some of them might have a point.

    The interviewer talks too much and doesn't elicit responses from NP as much as he should

    • @Herring1967
      @Herring1967  Před 11 měsíci

      It's not an interview, it's a conversation. Sorry it didn't live up to your expectations. I hope to elicit the responses as much as I should next time.

      There's lots of dull interviews out there where famous actors ramble on tediously with no input from the interviewer. There's a 1999 Angelina Jolie interview where she just mumbles incoherently for minutes on end because she was probably on something. But she's so spellbindingly beautiful, you find yourself switching off and just staring at her face (which the interviewer probably did as well).
