Iberia by Albeniz. Spanish Impressionism.
In this video I explore Iberia by Albeniz, explaining the evolution of his musical language, from small character pieces in flamenco style to a more sophisticated compositions. I will also show examples at the piano and comment on some images that Iberia evokes.

Most paintings in the video are by Joaquín Sorolla, a master who also infused spanish folkloric themes within his impressionistic style.

Rosa Sabater was a friend and colleague of Alicia de Larrocha who also studied with Frank Marshall, student of Granados. A real landmark in the recordings of Iberia (1992) by this Master Andalusian Pianist from Cordoba. Lots of introspection, impressionism combined with a powerful sound and sense of rhythm.
