- Join me for Part 3 of this series where I travel from Florida to the Bahamas on a repurposed sailboat built into a skiff boat! This skiff started as a sailboat that I built in 24 hrs, yes, in 24 hours I transformed sailboat into a skiff and then traveled the Gulf stream crossing from Florida to The Bahamas solo, no other boats! If you enjoy this video feel free to checkout some of my other builds and adventures and be sure to watch Part 1 and 2 of this series How to Build a skiff in 24 hrs ! Cheers and thanks for watching!

Hahaha! Love it! Cheers buddy and thank you!
No way this guy turned a flying scot into a skiff. Legend 😂😂
Thanks for the awesome energy / comment buddy! And crazy huh?! Who would’ve thought a boat designed and built to sail around at several knots would be such a little ripper! Haha. Cheers!
I have spent tons of hours sailing these boats. Pretty fun boats to sail and a nice medium size. Great for a transition from a dinghy sailor to a bigger boat. Great video!!
Keep it up. The skiff builds are great, but these little stories add something special.
Thank you so much Leanne! I struggle to include a lot of the stories in my builds , but hopefully with time as I get better with this whole “video” thing I can continue to improve and include more. Cheers!
Agree. Always fun seeing the builds but the stories and their use is also really cool.
Man I didn't realize that you're practically my neighbor! I live down in Jupiter. I just got an 18ft skiff I'm about to redo. Love your videos! You're living the life I'm working towards. It's so awesome you donated that boat after doing all that work to it.
That is so freaking cool.... Thanks so much for sharing with us... You are the MAN ! 💪
Seeing you skiff finished, it has quite handsome lines to it. Nice looking skiff.

Brother you have balls of solid steel. Stay safe.
Oh man haha, I appreciate it Lance. Believe it or not I’m not a big risk taker, hard to sum up in a short reply haha. But overall i do a lot of homework and planning before these trips, and I guess I could say that I’m VERY comfortable with just about any situations that could arise. 😬😎 ( knock on wood). Cheers!

This reminds me of back in the 60's a guy named Herbert Spradling made a non stop run from Miami to Bimini in an 8 foot flat bottom John boat
The one we’ve all been waiting for!
Hell yeah buddy! It was so hard to not post a bunch of your drone shots in this vid Haha. But Just wait till next vid, our trip, the footage is so awesome and combined with your drone stuff 🤯( pre submarine of course) 🙃😂
The quality of your videos are just amazing, all we ask is you run each scene a little longer so we have more watch time. You are living the dream in paradise and I'm so glad you share that with us. I'm sad to see that skiff go... but it is to a great cause, plus this means you can video the building of another which is another plus for us! Be safe out there on little red!
Thanks for taking the time to share Edward, this comment goes far with me and I’m stoked to have you as a regular here with the channel. I appreciate your positive energy and great feedback! Cheers friend!

You’re a menace bro!
Ha! Once you unleash Pottcake we’ll see who the menace is! Haha
this was amazing... that build works so well its like it was ment to be just like you built it, im going to keep my eyes open for a hull as close to that one you used as possible it just looks so sleek an has alot of room inside. stay well out there !
Thank you! And right?! There really is SO much room in these hulls and they are built so well from the factory. Good luck in the search and with a future build! If you have any questions I’m here to help! Cheers!

Thanks buddy! You’ve got a little cameo in there haha! 🙌🏼💪🏼
we gotta get this channel to blow up. this is great content! I've been wanting to do this crossing but my boats not ready yet.
Man I appreciate it Jonathan , it’s a bitter sweet I Suppose. My goal with each video I create/ share is that if it can inspire 1 single person to take a step closer to an adventure / build… then that makes it all worth it! With that being said, let’s get you to the bahamas on your boat buddy! Cheers!
Bro, you're a nut! Had to subscribe
Love that you like 2 strokes long live the oil
Hey this is incredible I'm now a huge fan! I'd love to see an aluminum boat restore. I'm definitely an aluminum boat fan.
Hi Dan! Thank you Buddy I love the idea and I have actually brainstormed a couple aluminum boat builds years ago, thanks for bringing the idea to light! Keep an eye out! Cheers!

That’s my country 🇧🇸💯
good work on the videos
Thank you so much, it’s overwhelming 99% of the time but I think on this past one it was down to 98% of the time haha. It’s a learning curve indeeed and I’m just trying to improve on all levels. Cheers and thanks for sharing!
You're nuts man lol I'm from Stuart I love the videos man good job keep them coming
Haha, that seems to be a reoccurring statement lately with these vids 😜 haha. Really though, stoked you like the vids and cheers to local friends!
i bow to you man this is absolutely awesome! we will meet up one day!
Haha. It’s mutual buddy! One day for sure, let’s collab, I love your work! Subbed!
Brother how did you meet all these folks in bahamas ? That was so special of you to build that and donate it. As well as helping your friend and his daughter. I would of been like you friend wow my first time crossing .. need to build me 20 footer still
Hi Jim, thanks for the question and comment as always buddy! I guess just through my own travels/work/ relief efforts and exploring.... i've always been drawn to Bahamian fishers/watermen. They are whom i wanted to "grow up to be". And really, I look back and realize that in all the places i have explored in the bahamas, my highlights were ALAWAYS human interactions with locals, forging relationships, and in time growing friendships with like minded individuals there. That was where I put my efforts. I appreciate the simplicity and "disconnect" that exists there and when you meet the right folks it just clicks I guess. The way I met everyone in East End Grand Bahama was after Hurricane Dorian when I started fixing up skiffs here in Florida and giving them to fishers who lost everything. That forged some solid relationships. We'll get you over there one of these days and in the meantime, keep an eye out for a project boat! haha. Cheers buddy and thanks again for the positive energy always!

Great vid. Cant wait to see ya at 500k subs down the road man
Haha. I like the positivity! While it would be cool indeed, I’m pretty focused and loving the amazing viewers/subscribers I’ve got now. You guys all rock and seriously motivate me to keep plugging along. The encouragement is next level and these comments totally make it all
Worth it. My fear with growth is that one day I don’t have enough time to answer all the comments. Engaging with you all is my favorite! Cheers!
Very cool, but surprised making that crossing at night the coast guard didn’t mistake you for drug runners. Lol
new subscriber here 👍
Right on Gunther! Thank you so much, Stoked to have you join us! Cheers!

Your videos are awesome man, your a legend
Man so glad I found your channel. This is something i've always dreamed of doing. Ft lauderdale to bimini in a small boat. Im thinking of trying it in a 16' inflatable with 40hp.i once ran hillsboro inlet to islamorada non stop in a 15' sib. But that was huggingbthe coast into card sound. Still havent got up the nerve to cross the gulfstream.
Hi Fred! I'm stoked you found the channel and heck yes, i think thats awesome you want to cross over! I am putting together a video with a TON of information about crossing over regardless of what size boat. Keep an eye out ! Also. i'm brainstorming a "skiff-pedition" type event where several folks get together and we do a miami to Bimini crossing. I'll keep you in the loop, cheers!

Hello when you come back in the Bahamas I want to see you 😌😌😌
I gotta believe that even with the disclaimer, a curious number of ridiculously I’ll prepared small watercraft are being rescued by the Coast Guard between Miami and the Bahamas ever since you posted this series.
cool
Omg that’s crazy
Haha, i guess on some levels it is. But overall, there's a lot more into it than meets the eye. :). Cheers bud, i'm digging you Inflatable setup!
I'm halfway through the video watching, you didn't mention how much gas you burn, hey by the way this is one of my favorite videos going to Bahama, I love to see smaller vessels traveling, I have a very small boat on I'm going to prepare a trip if it's even possible, my boat is way smaller than that but I've seen people cross with jet ski so I think I'm good as long as I can't play both an engine durable
Balls you have to have a set! Makes me remonese
very cool place to go. That must be a bonefish haven, where did you guys go anyway?
Disclaimer noted. I so want to try this at home
Subbed wanna see u take that lil boat back
Haha, thank you for the comment and sub! I hope you enjoy it, trying to wrap up editing and get it posted tomorrow! Cheers
Would a small 1-2" strake/keel glassed in where the centerboard used to be solve some of the directional stability issues in headwinds? I just found your channel and am thinking of converting a derelict Catalina 22 into a launch.
I would love to try this. I have a 1860 mod v Jon. Do you think something like that could make it ?
How do you judge your weather window ? This looks like the trip of a life time.
Yoooo! These are the best man. Glad the 24 hr skiff found a deserving home over there. Looked like you put the stashed extra motor on little red for the next leg of your adventure? Madness.
What was the make of the skiff you helped them launch with the 40hp on it? Couldn’t make out the emblem.
Really enjoying these trips in the skiffs. Looked like you were having to surf a little in the lil red preview. Yikes! Stay safe and enjoy the adventure man.
Thanks Mark!! So glad you enjoy them and yes! Stashed for future use! 😎💪🏼
That skiff with the 40 Hp is actually a 17’ Key West. Not a lightweight boat but it floats light and has a wide beam so it practically sits on plane.lol. That thing was riding out with 4 of us too! Crazy huh?!
And good eye haha, surfing big waves in the gulf stream. 😬🌊. Cheers buddy!

Nice Evan!! And cheers on your new boat! Enjoy your trip and holler if you ever want to expand your network over there. My friends are your friends, cheers!
@@diywaterworld will do brother
Hey Bud, on one of your videos you were cutting holes in the floor and i was wondering if you use special hole saws to do this or just typical ones you would pickup from Lowes?
Did you add a wedge to the bottom like you talked about in part 2?
There is no backup to 16' breaking waves in the stream. Your epirb will go off and the coast guard will say "we will go search for the bodies after things calm down". You can get lucky, and much "luck" is really calculated risk.
