- San Gorgonio is the tallest mountain in Southern California. In this video we will give you directions to the peak & some epic drone footage along the way. Standing at 11,503’ this hike is not for the beginner, I would try a few smaller peaks before attempting this one. One of the benefits to locals is that this hike is only about a hour outside of LA & Orange Counties.
We took the Vivan Creek trail head which is about an 18 mile out & back trek. The first part of this hike is very steep and after that is a slow push to the summit.
Things you need to know:
Start early - The trail head officially opens at 6am so that’s the best time to start. Also parking can be a bit crazy so arrive early to secure your spot.
Adventure Pass - You will also need a parking pass so make sure to purchase one before hand at REI or your local outdoor shop.
Stay hydrated - I brought along 3 liters of water & 1 Gatorade for electrolytes
Directions to the trail head - Type in “Vivan Creek trailhead” into google maps or use the GPS coordinates
“34.0821200, -116.8934800”

I got tired just watching you guys do this incredible climb. I don’t think you’ll be doing it again soon. 😂
Ahaha this climb was very tough 😫 it’s a long day for sure. I’m overdue for a peak hike thanks for reminding me hehe 😉
Looks a lot like the Baden Powell trail
Wow, is beautiful... what a trek! 😍🤩🗻 Thank you for sharing. 💚
Your welcome thanks for watching!
Nice video. Did baldy this past Saturday through ski hut then down Devils backbone. San G. Then Jacinto are next.
WOO. Time to sneak it in before the snow kicks in. Congrats on your summit keep on trekking!
respect the wilderness areas. don't fly drones there.
Wat month was this? Could u like this in dec?
Hey I am sure you can check conditions there could be snow you’ll need to be prepared with ice axe and spikes for your shoes.
Drones and motorized equipment are illegal past the wilderness boundaries
Love this 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thank you this was a fun video to make!
SATURDAY IS MU TURN CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU 👏🤝🥊
Good luck!!!! Be strong you can do it let us know how it goes!
That looks like a very hard hike. I hiked from the top tram station in Palm Springs to the top of Mt. San Jacinto in 4 hours and I'm a slow walker. It's not a difficult hike at all, it just takes a lot of time. While I was hiking little girls would blow by me on the trail, I'm that slow. The only water I had was from the mountain streams.
That’s a really fun hike that I need to do soon thanks for the reminder!
dope bro dope
Please leave your damn drone at home.
Why are you guys so upset by the drone? Im honestly curious
Wow! Nice video! I hiked this mountain via Vivian creek couple of times, and both the times I had fun! You captured the hike nicely! 👍 Subbed for the future hiking videos...)
Thank you so much! A couple times? You must be so strong this was a real tough trek.
Nice video! Make sure you remind viewers of the need to keep hydrated on the way up and the way down. Lots of water, that's the key to a successful summit.
Great tip thanks Steve! Yes this is a super long hike bring plenty plenty of water.
Nice video. That's a fun hike. Did you guys get a special use permit for the drone?
Hey I use the mavic air 2 and you can request permission on the app before flying in a restricted area otherwise it won’t let you.
Btw I am a subscriber of your channel great stuff
I think they didn't mention restrooms. Are there any at the trailhead? Are the bushes dense so they don't see you do you-know-what?
Anyone can help me out here? My memory is fading I believe they do but I’m not 100%
If you are planning on camping bring a poop shovel because there are known to be rangers checking and it’s a possible 5k fee!
@@StephenAldaco haha! I just meant urinating, not pooping. XD but thx for checking in!
Hahaha yes there are bushes less the higher up you go. Just be sure to pee away from water sources 🤢
@@StephenAldaco Gotcha, thx again!
Nice! I’m looking to hike San G. in about 2 weeks. How often do you come across streams to refill your water? And how many camp sights are on the trail?,
in case I break it into 2 days.
Hey amigo so there was water as of last week at Vivian creek & high creek at mile 5
There’s 3 campsites Vivian creek camp & high creek camp.
Did I see you start the JMT in Yosemite about 3 weeks ago?
Must have been future me hahah
@@StephenAldaco ahh… well that would make for a cool video 👍🏽
easy
Haha it was a tough one for me knees but glad to hear it!
