Silver, gold, and a special wood (Amboyna burl) were used.

Since age 15 in1962, I've used Conway Stewart, Parker, Sheaffer and a couple of lesser breeds, but I could neither afford nor justify a beautiful hand-made piece of art like this superb pen. If it's a Mont Blanc copy, then the copy will be as good as the original and probably cost less. A very good video, giving detailed insight to those interested in good pens.
Like you, I have been using fountain pens for a long time.
I have been using the Parker 45 model since about 1980.
