Audi’s model line-up is becoming increasingly unimaginative. They’ve killed the R8, TTRS, they are most likely on their last RS3 with a I5. So, unless you want to spend north of 100k, you will soon be stuck with 2,5 ton fridges on wheels that are the EV SUVs. The once all-important Quattro sports spirit has left the building I’m affraid.

If Audi have any intention of making an electric TT, we're probably going to have to wait for battery technology to get a bit better before something like a TT e-tron/e-tron TT or whatever they might call it comes about. The compact, sporty size of the TT would need a small, light, power dense battery that the current chemistries don't support.

The mk3 was almost there, I again had a TTS and then got the TTRS in 2019. I sold that last year. Mine was in Riviera Blue, it looked stunning. Well built, reliable, fast, good looking and practical if you don't need rear seats - the boot space is very decent if you fold the rear 'seats' down. Only gripes were crap brakes and ageing tech. I now have a 718 Cayman GTS and got a new RS4 for my daily. I would have gone for a mk4 TT if they'd dropped the new RS3 tech and wotnot into it. Was never a massive fan of the mk1, I didn't mind it but it wasn't for me, I've always been obsessed with the a3/s3 and then the rs3. But with this tt I think it's my new favourite, right next to the rs6 and rs3. I know a lot of people don't like audis for whatever reasons they have, but in my mind there is no other car that can get you from A to B in such comfort, speed, safety and style all rolled into one. Infact with any quattro model they are the best thing to get where you want to go, maybe some aren't very fast but I just wouldn't pick anything else. But getting back to this tt, I think I've fallen in love❤️ 😍

To be honest. In 1997 Coupes were really big, so the TT made perfect sense. In 2022 they're really not popular, so I doubt they sell enough to justify the car continuing. To be frank, over the years it's crept up in price and isn't the bargain it once was.

The TT Mk1 (1999-2006) remains one of the very best looking cars ever, and the later editions blew it by restyling the body, while improving the mechanics.
The owners of MK1 for the most part continue to love their cars and drive them, despite that fact that many of the essential parts are now unavailable. A search for used parts often shows the elusive used part available in Europe only to be prohibitively expensive to ship to the states. And most irritating of all, lots of little plastic connectors break after 20+ years forcing tough decisions.

I never gonna change my little Audi TT mk1 stage 1... and stage 2 exhaust setup... and twin turbo intake HOLES to let the car BREATHE in the intake department.. obviously it has an intake already, and a radiator infront(where big Audi opening is)...I'm just trying to say this car is awesome to have parked... to DRIVE... man MAN. with a nice backside upgrade I did.. Led(s) tail lights+black colored fit wing, and purple exhaust tips on top of new exhaust pipes fully.... it is AWESOME.... it could look "ricy" but how INSANELY stylish it was... those small modifications do not RUIN the Aluminum colored ... aluminum mostly... I guess.. awesome car :D and then the INSIDE OF THE CAR.. we know Audi in 1990's 2000s best auto maker for interiors... WOW it looks better sportier than the 350z... more ALUMINUM / leather combo EVERYWHERE inside the car... no plastics, actually VERY FEW plastic or carbon parts inside.. mostly only ALU , ALU, alu, hell dashboard had all alu around, hell the radio cover, the e brake, the SHIFTER :D :D

@@dogger37JC oh bro it has a GREAT engine. it has the 20V turbo, most of the 20V turbo's were 4 cylinders.. Now it came with the 20v turbo that was 150 hp as well haha.. that is why they called it the hair dresser car, and because of "looks"?
Trust me, I don't know bout the 150hp... but the 225hp, few mods to engine, few exhaust mod... I need to dyno to see over the years I assume I am at 250. Bro The 5 cylinder is barely any more power STANDARD.. this motor I have now, with no changes, easily 300-450 bhp. MY Crankshaft, the heart of the motor, is rated up to 1,000 bhp... I'll take that.
So overall, even the 4 cylinder motor is UNDER RATED I guess if people like you don't know about that, and I would say my 4 banger with 20 VALVES for a 4 banger... almost 2,000CC + K04 turbo inside, making 20 valves... it sounds NASTY. I dare say even closer to the 250 + hp 5 cylinders... In reality its not that much different. and for you to say Yeah the 20V 5 cylinder awesome.. too bad the shitty 20v 225? was not enough? Okay bro.
Im putting my 4 banger 20 V K04 turbo onto the net soon, with decent exhaust... I GARUNTEE it might sound MIGHT sound better than the 250-300 hp MODDED to 700 hp KEN BLOCK Audi 20v 5 CYLINDER... look at that AMAZING sound.. watch when my bullshit video of my car being filmed in a Drone setting.. JUST WatcH when my 20v turbo 1.8 video come out just LISTEN :D You may have to eat your words by that point :D Trust me I could give a fuck what you say, I drive my 20v k04 every day accelerating responsibly... IT sounds insane, drives insane, I love the 5 cylinder of course too but it aint ALLL that difference.. the point is not the 5 cylinders... the point is 4 or 5 cylinders around 2,000C or 2,500 CC WITH a turbo to rank up the motor accell.. and you get the 20 V turbo :D

@@slavche 20V is an okay motor. Sure with mods it can make some power but the 5 cylinder turbo in the TTRS and the RS3 is one of the best engines Audi has ever produced. They took things to another level with the V10, 4.2 V8, and 5 cylinder design.

@@dogger37JC Bro why the hate... Even Jeremy Clarkson who hated on the OG Audi TT from 150 hp, hehe, the 225 hp TT he mentions in the new Grand tours, he says all the Audi motors you say, but then he mentions "Oh the 20V turbo, and.." he did not say OH the 5 cylinder or oh the 5 cylinder 20 v. Jesus. Even The hater, Jeremy :D says 20v turbo.
This is not about me, but with the 225 motor I have, modded out slightly crazy sounds GREAT, accell GREAT, it is like the 500+ standard power car(s) I had in the past.
Lastly, the 225 TURBO k04 has been, online, recognized as an easy 700+ hp car, AND a great ENGINE. why? with a simple new turbo installed, you can push most of the motor parts past 600 to 700 hp, again with a new turbo you can unlock past 450 bhp or maybe 500 bhp MAX on stock k04.
THE reason 225 turbo k04(20v T) is RECOGNIZED as "mad good",excuse the grammar, is because it came with FORGED internals. Forged internals, in this case here, equals Forged Crankshaft, Forged Connecting Rods, Forged Pistons. Ask, why? BECAUSE with a powerful k04 in the tank they cut the compression ratio to 9.0. From what I gather, this means the INTERNALs of the motor then make up for less compression overall ratio, and less turbo activation ( even though k04 is the bigger turbo) this is precisely why this build the 225 has SO MUCH POTENTIAL.. They stuck in a k03, no a k04 turbo but downed the compression ratio... so to get MORE than the previous 150, 180, 200... THEY GOT 225 by INCREASING the internals on the motor.. I CRACKED my crankshaft.. I KNOWWWW the 225 motor has a BRAND different size Forged Crankshaft than the 180 EVEN. For you to call even the 225 k04 20V Turbo not one of the best motors from Audi.. not ONE OF... not the best maybe, but NOT ONE OF?.... okay dog... tell me something about my English on this Essay paper.
