    Albeit a wonderful video, a new reader will enjoy the books much better if they don't know all this. The history and lore that is summarized in this video is very slowly revealed or discovered throughout the 14 books. As you begin your journey, the Aes Sedai are almost beings of legends for Rand and co, shrouded in mystery. Because we experience the story mainly through these characters, going in blind makes the story even more magical.

    Great video. Many don’t realize that the female Aes Sedai made a pact not to aid Lews Therin in sealing away the dark one. This inadvertently saved saidar from becoming tainted as saidin did possibly saving the world from a breaking that would have destroyed everything forever.

    • @mbusbridge1
      @mbusbridge1 Před 2 lety +5

      I have always wondered if it was the division amongst the Aes Sedi and the Hundred Companions that allowed the dark one to poison the male half of the one power. If they had worked together.. as those of the Third Age did, would they have been strong enough to imprison the Dark One and his remaining 13 Chosen.
      The Last Battle sees both Sadin and Sadir welded via those massive Sa'Angreal and used against the dark one. It's the True Power that kind of pokes a big hole in that theory. But it may be that the One Power or True Power wasn't what won over the dark ones forces... It was all those different people, with different views... All coming together working as One to push back the darkness. Men and women from all walks of life came together and stood against the dark. They won. The Second Age saw infighting and division. The division Aes Sedi and the Hundred Companions may have been what caused the breaking. The Lord of the Morning didn't trust the plan the Aes Sedi had in mind and the Aes Sedi didn't trust his plan. Yet the seals and Choden Cal AND the True Power were used.
      So maybe the breaking was just part of the pattern and thus couldn't have been avoided no matter the choices of those involved.

      Very cool perspective I never thought of. The seals would probably never break if everyone went to the party, but then life forever after would be crazies all over. Would the a’dam avert this, or could it even be produced without a continuation of saidar knowledge....yes I’m high

      I'm not aware of that, unless there was something I missed. If you let me know where you read that I'd be happy to check it out. Here is the complete entry from the Companion Book, and it seems to match what I said.
      Land of the Madmen
      A third continent, well south of the Sea of Storms, discovered by the Sea Folk; little was known of it. The landmass experienced continual seismic activity and devastating storms, and icebergs filled the surrounding oceans. The people of this continent lived a primitive and violent life. They never recovered from the Breaking; channelers, male and female, abounded; the men were mad and the women all but, never having organized to resist the destruction wrought by their male counterparts. The remainder of the population lived in small communities that formed mobs to kill strangers who wandered into their territory. The continued existence of the Land of the Madmen could be attributed in part to the fact that many of the male channelers had developed blocks which limited or prevented them from using the One Power.

      @@CivilizationEx sorry its in The World of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. and dosent say there mad just near so. "The people live in hovels in small, primitive villages. Channellers of both sexes exist. The men are of course insane, and it is hypothesised that the land's ongoing seismic activity may partially be due to the male channellers unleashing the One Power randomly and chaotically (in essence, the Breaking of the World continues on a much smaller scale on this landmass). This likely implies that the failure of the landmass's inhabitants to rebuild society is due to female channellers there not developing a functional system for gentling or executing male channellers. The females channelers of the land of madmen are apparently also unpredictable and dangerous. The non-channelling population appears completely untrusting of outsiders, and kill them on sight. After several attempts to establish trade, the Sea Folk have declared this land off-limits, and will not travel there." Love the vid BTW

      @@CivilizationEx my read of this isn't that women are mad but the stress of the life they have to live on such a chaotic land mass leaves them emotionally haggard in a way that some might interpret as "madness". Which I think tracks with how anyone would feel living in a constantly shifting world where random men can up end your life or even kill you at any moment.

      It's too bad you are such a lemming that you don't even know what your definition of "woke" is. Nothing you said here made a lick of sense, but that's par for the course from this type of asshole.
      The show was bad, but that's because of storytelling issues. Trying to condense it all into so few episodes didn't work, and i don't know what the fuck they were doing with that last episode. I was onboard enough until that. Now I don't think I will bother with season 2.
