I can attest to the fact that this chateau is FREEZING in the winter! Visiting in December, we had to go OUTSIDE to warm up!

When I was 9 a friend of my parents took me to visit a couple of châteaux. One was Chambord and the other Azay-le-Rideau (a mini Chambord maybe) I remember thinking, "from now on I'll save money to buy it". Next week, I'm going to see Cheverny with my husband. Not because of Henry VIII but because it was the model of the château bought by Tintin (Moulinsart) and there is an a Tintin exhibition in it; it helps the cost of maintenance. A big thank you, Sarah, for this superb video. Chenonceau used to belong to the chocolat Meunier family.

    Magnificent château on the Loire.
We traveled to Chambor, Chenonceau and Amboise. I would gladly travel there more often.

The open double staircase is truly stunning - and the tournament certainly added the flavour of the 16th century. Many thanks for this enjoyable Tudor Travel Guide Elizabeth Cumming.
