    This is my favorite mic, when I order the Rode Nt1 I was missing the gold embedded circle piece. It's been 2 years and its still works amazing. I'm still heated that every video I see the Rode NT1 , I look at the gold circle piece. It cost me 250.00

    I have a Blue Ember and it was a good beginner mic, but it picks up soo much background noise,etc... Can't wait to get my NT1 in a few days.

    I'm not consider this mic is a budget mic. Maybe for you it is cheap. In malaysia, it cost around 1100myr. Which is 85% of our monthly basic salary. Sad but it's the truth.

    I worked with so many microphones, U87, C414, Cheap Oktava, or expensive Telefunken, Rode K2, but now I have the NT1 for my own use and have been thinking about buying some tube microphone, Pure Tube or something similar. But, they are all the same in a sense that I always get the same results. If I want this U87 sound, I use the NT1 and add transformer saturation and an EQ, and here it is. Even the U87, I do not like it and never leave it as it is, always doing some processing, often to make it unrecognisable, so really I wonder why to have a better microphone than the NT1 unless there is a need to impress a client.

    Which microphone is better for a home studio: NT1 or CAD E100SX?
    I will add that I record in Polish, which has a lot of rustling and hissing sounds.
    I currently have an MXL990 and an AT2020. The former has a nice bright sound, somewhat reminding me of the TLM103, but has a very high noise level. The AT, on the other hand, is very flat, but you feel that it is missing something when you compare it with more expensive microphones.
    I would like to buy one better microphone, but obviously I don't want the Sony C800 for my hobby :)
    Can you advise? I would prefer not to exceed $1000 and the less the better ;)

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  Před 9 měsíci +1

      "better" 100% varies upon who the vocalist is in the home studio. The only way to know which mic is perfect for your voice, language, and room is to purchase multiple, test them, and return all of them except your favorite.

    But why was the 4th Gen 259, and this one 159??? I got the 5th gen, happy with the purchase, but don't really use the usb... yet... albeit it's pretty cool with the 32 bit float. But again, if this is essentially the same as the 4th Gen (no usb) but improved specs, why is it only 159 when the 4th Gen was 259? Boggles my mind...

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  Před 9 měsíci +2

      They charge extra for the hybrid USB-C connectivity. USB mics require a number of extra internal components like converters, preamp, power supply, DSP chips, USB protocol… these are all things that traditional XLR mics don’t need, which allows them to cost significantly less to manufacture

    • @PowerPaul86
      @PowerPaul86 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@ReidStefanMusic but he's talking about the 4th Gen which has no USB-C interface. I'm also confused about the price difference to the NT-1 4th gen

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  Před 9 měsíci

      @@PowerPaul86I’m guessing lots of new competition drives the price down overtime. Also, the mass market is trending towards hybrid/usb mics, so naturally, the now “old fashioned XLR” gear needs to cost less than the latest tech

    hey, great video and production of the "demo". :)
    One question: I think you recordet it through your hardware? [if i can trust my ears, i hear the pre and comp]. When this is the case, i´d like to have the the rode compared to nothing but the mic and your interface, then with your HW chain and then all together [raw, raw+mix, hardware, hw+mix] if possible (and understandable :D). greetings :)

    Great visuals, very good explanation about the mic's features. However. You can't call this a "PRODUCT REVIEW" without comparing it to anything else in the market. Sure, you have a good sounding microphone with great features at an affordable price. But that recommendation doesn't really mean anything if there's a better option for your money. I could still be wrong and this might be the best condenser microphone in its class. But without any reference to any alternative, how do I know this is the right microphone for me?
    Just some feedback. Keep up the good work. Love the style.

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the feedback! The only way to actually know if a mic is right for you, is to purchase or rent multiple mics, test them together side-by-side using your voice & room, then return all of them except your favorite. Adding mic Comparisons is fun, but it would likely only help you choose which mic is best for my vocalist's female voice, not necessarily "for you," unless you had a very similar female voice.

      So is there a $2900 difference between the two sonically?

    • @waves7300
      @waves7300 Před 9 měsíci +1

      U87ai has more of a proximity effect, has a more compressed sound (which is not always good) is it smoother? Yea but it can be quite boring sometimes because of this. People say it can be sibilant but I find it to be kind of dark. The low mids and mids can be hyped which makes for a thick tone. When it works it’s nice but it will not work for everything.
      Nt1-a seems to be flat but certainly a brighter mic which I enjoy. People again will say it’s a sibilant mic but there’s ways to control it with a good de-esser or multi band compressor. It’s a quite mic at like 5db self noise. Takes compression and eq pretty well. I use it more than my 87 sometimes. To top it off I don’t even run it through my bae 1073 for good tone and I prefer it that way. Freakin dope mic for the cost
      Is there a cost difference of almost 3,000?
      It depends what you’re trying to capture, but you can get an expensive tone with the Nt1-a
      Edit: Nt1-a is different from the Nt1

    • @ReidStefanMusic
      @ReidStefanMusic  Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@waves7300in addition to variety in tone, it’s very nice to own an inexpensive mic to leave setup at all times, instead of running your expensive mics endlessly 24/7
