Hey, cruisers, we are back with a fun little video on prohibited items on a cruise. We've done lots of videos on what to pack for a cruise, but not so many on what NOT to pack on a cruise. We had a lot of fun with this one, but there definitely are some items prohibited on a cruise, and trying to pack prohibited cruise items can lead to embarrassment, and big delays for you and your cruise ensemble. Of course, we don't cover everything that is prohibited on a cruise, so be sure to check out your cruise line's prohibited items list if you have any questions or concerns about what not to pack for a cruise. We had some help from our subscribers on real stories about what items are prohibited on a cruise, so big thanks to them for helping out. Their contributions help make this topic a bit more fun to watch. If you want information about what to pack for a cruise vacation be sure to check out some of our previous packing for a cruise videos: • Packing for a cruise -...

Great video Sherri. We can't believe some of the things people bring with them either. We haven't ever been called to the "naughty room" and don't intend to. LOL It's a fun place to walk by and see all the weird items people try to sneak aboard though. LOL

When I think of Items that most cruise ship companies do not allow longboard, I think of a list of weapons that Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority doesn’t allow into The East Asian country without lawful permits or other authorization that is mentioned in the CZcams video “Crimewatch 2010 episode 5 - To declare or not to declare” & that includes, but is not limited to:
      - Handcuffs
      - butterfly knives
      - nunchuckus
      - flick knives
      - Barongs (type of knife of Southern Philippine origin)
      - kukris
      - batons (also known as truncheons)

Hi Sheri, good info as usual. I got off a cruise a few weeks ago and they were also making a big deal about the Samsung Note 7. They even went so far as to say if a cabin steward saw one in your room, it would be taken. They said they would be put in a safe place and be returned at the end of the cruise. I'm retired law enforcement and once traveled with a backpack I recently took to the range for qualifying and they found five empty magazines I thought they did a good job catching them even though they arent much good without bullets and a gun. LOL They offered to let me take them back to my car or they would have to bring a police officer come over and talk to me. I could have gone back to the desk and just register as an armed flyer. The cop was nice and offered to lock them up in their office and I picked them up when I got home.

Regarding taking wine aboard- most lines allow it, but also charge a "corkage fee" to open and serve it to you. May still cost less than buying theirs, and you can have exactly what you want, but you are not getting by completely free on it.

People were able to get pot aboard if they wanted to when I was there (before 9/11 ). Before you had to lose your belt, shoes, etc. they'd just bring it in bodily in their socks and shoes. Getting it on wasn't to hard-using it was. It leaves a rather distinctive odor, for those of you who've never tried it, and you can't do it openly in front of everyone. You could only do it from a balcony cabin and even then people could smell it in the hallway.

My family and I are going on our first cruise in July and I found this very heplful in knowing what not to bring, but what about blow dryers, hair straighteners and curling irons. If the blow dryers are anything like the hotels then I may be in trouble.

I went to the Bahamas last year in December and one of the gift shops had a pocket knife as a souvenir. I almost bought it as a gift but realized it probaly wouldn't be allowed on the ship. I wondered why it was being sold. Even if someone were flying out of the Bahamas you still couldn't take it with you. So, I wonder why it was being sold in the first place.

If the gift shop was in port do you think they care? Once the sale is made. Same thing with port liquor stores.

A couple a few cabins down from us were taken off the ship on the first day in cuffs because they brought drugs on board. Unlike passengers, police CAN bring hand cuffs on board! And how embarrassing for that couple!

I need my fan to sleep, and they took my fan, so we went to customer service after the ship left port, told them i need my fan to sleep, so they gave it back, so let them take it, and then complain your cant sleep without it. maybe your will get it back, this was with Norweigian cruise lines,

      @rachaeladler3631 Před 7 lety

Always Be Booked Cruises and Vacations HI. I used to work on one of the big three but it's been awhile. Back then you could bring an instrument so long as it wasn't bigger than a harmonica, more or less. I think the theory was that you might have a few to many and then use your clarinet as a weapon.

Lydia_ Ann I dont think so- on my first cruise I took a huge check in suitcase and a rolling carry on lol needless to say Ive learned my lesson- all that stuff isnt necessary

    • @govols535

Two checked bags per person for a cruise over five days. Max fifty pounds each. No limit announced on carry one, but remember you might be carrying it for hours before your room is ready.
