Hi Glen!!! so good to see you had a pretty cool RSD experience and got the record you were looking for... nothings beats getting a grail. cheers and be well
I couldn't believe how busy the record stores were today and I didn't get there until around 11:00 am. I don't remember seeing your grail at my stores. I thought about those two Gene Clark releases. Happy listening.
Always great to get a grail. I remember when Duane Allman's 7 CD retrospective limited edition, numbered boxset came out, i preordered it and was advised they didn't have it upon release. I then ordered it from U.S. Once shipment was confirmed, i went to cancel my original order and found out they had, indeed, shipped it. Now i have two, but i didn't care. It was a grail for me.
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I thought about selling one. I originally thought I'd keep it for a while and sell it when it increased in value, but never did. And then I thought I should keep it in case something happened to a disc on the one I opened. Because it's you Glen, and I kind of think you may be my musical brother from a different mother, I would consider it. I know you would buy it to enjoy the wonderful music contained therein.
Went to my first RSD today. Waited in the cold 90 minutes to get in. Didn’t have the album I sought, but picked up America Live at the Hollywood Bowl. First new vinyl I’ve bought in a while.
The 12 Bar Club was a venue until quite recently in Denmark Street Soho London. It was Tin Pan Alley where the songwriters used to work. Elton John and Bernie Taupin worked there and Selmers Amp and Guitar shop was there where in 1967 Jimi Hendrix walked in and was served by a young Paul Kossoff who was a Salesman there before forming Free. Regent Sound Studio was opposite the 12 Bar in Denmark Street where The Stones recorded Not Fade Away and the 1st Stones album. Btw. I played at the 12 Bar in 2005.
Yes also the Gioconda Cafe at No9 Denmark Street, where David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Small Faces etc used to hangout. The Kinks recorded You Really Got Me in one of the recording studios. The Sex Pistols rehearsed and lived at No4. Loads of history of this one street in London!
Hey Glen! Glad you got something you wanted. I mowed the lawn.....
