  • David Guzik teaches through the Book of Psalms. This is his message on Psalm 15.
We have no precise occasion for this psalm, but it may well have been on the bringing of the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6).

    Always energetic and helpful indeed.
When I led my family in devotions and Bible study I see how commentators build their conversations. With David Guzik, it's genuinely seen and felt in his joy and love for God. I praise God for these and always learn and can grow in His word.
This psalm is one of my deepest loved ones. It's one I find myself repeating in my heart throughout the years. I've been chastened and encouraged by it.
Again, thank you for sharing this and my brother and I agree, what a blessing to have someone in our lifetime we can learn from who is someone God used to give commentary and expositions. We use blueletterbible for years now as well. Thank you David G!

I think this Psalm was written by David when he was young.
When he was in the field as a shepherd boy, after his mother the maidservant of the LORD told David the story about the tabernacle.
It was on one of that errands when David took his father's lambs to the pasture, he was laying on the pasture, looking up to the sky, and his heart began to wonder about who, what, and how can someone be accepted to enter the tabernacle.
Who, what, and how can someone be accepted in God's eye?
It was the beginning of his search for God's own heart.
Thank you for the enduring words.

Be a person who has character & integrity in alignment with God's will sufficient to be able to dwell in His Tabernacle. (He is our 'Tent')

I wish there was a Bible that instead of "God" ( in which there were many, He even said so " you shall have no other gods") His actual name was used. For instance John 3:16 For Yahweh so loved the world.
A Bible like that would be so fantastic ❤

      Hi Shel,
      Great question.
I think it might be helpful to think about how God thinks in this regard.
God hates the sins that people commit, and yet he loves humanity.
God has the ability to not be so repulsed by the sinfulness of man that the result is that he rejects man.
Not only does Good not reject mankind, but he loves mankind.
We all appreciate that God loves us in spite of the fact that we do things that offend him.
God loves us in spite of our sins.
We need to see all of humanity that way, and pray for that kind of heart and perspective.
God's love for mankind is bigger than any offense that God feels from mankind.
We need to pray for that same kind of attitude and perspective.
I hope that this helps. Blessings!

Pastor David, somebody told me that our salvation is based on what Jesus did [God’s grace] and through our faith in Him and what He did. I totally agree. But then the person thinks she can keep unforgiveness in her heart and still go to heaven. How does that line up? Jesus says if we don’t forgive, His Father will not forgive us. How can that person not forgive and expect to get into heaven? Isn’t that person putting herself higher than God? God has forgiven all our sins and yet she doesn’t want to forgive. What are your thoughts?

      Philippians 4:13-
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. That person needs to pray for grace to be able to forgive, can’t do it on their own, Jesus can do it thru them. Amen 🙏

How do you reconcile loving your enemy but despising a vile person? Are these two different types of people or offenses?

    • @DavidGuzikEnduringWord
      @DavidGuzikEnduringWord  Před rokem

Jesus told us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The Psalms were written by Jewish men who lived under a covenant of blessings and cursing, and they viewpoint lacked the grace that Jesus taught us.
We do well to remember the love with which God has loved us, and then we ought to do the same towards others, yet without approving of their sinfulness.
      Hope this helps.

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord I’m getting there. Darn, I was really liking that despising the vile idea. Lol. I can understand the difference between despising the vile according to the Old Testament as different from the grace towards our enemies that Jesus taught but i still have trouble on what exactly it means to love our enemies and what that looks like without approving of their sinfulness. I’m I making sense? thank you for you time.

Love needs to come supernaturally. We keep following Jesus. We deny ourselves as the Holy Spirit prompts us to. Praise the Lord that you have this holy desire to love like God loves. That is a sure sign that God is working in you. Ask God to show you how to love others, and He will. Blessings!
