Technique. He has a different way of visualizing the cut.
I did
You guys don't understand. A style like that, you not cutting the top hair. The top hair is his afro. You not cutting that, just the hairline and sides/fade, that's it. That's why the Barber only needed to start with the hairline and sides and leave the hair on the top of his head, alone.
That's how you suppose to start it. Now, if this was a different hair style like say, a low-crop Taper with the afro cut off then the Barber would have started off by trimming down the afro, first.
First, with scissors to cut off the dangling long curls in his afro and then use guards to bring the hair down and closer to the scalp. Then he would have started on the sides/fade and hairline.
To be honest, it doesn't matter which one you do first between the edge for the hairline and the sideburn/fade. But if cutting off the top part of the head, you have to do that first before the sideburn/fade.
by far the cleanest taper I've ever seen. good job man keep it up.

Anyone else hate how they have to spray that black thing to make the person's hairline look really really straight ? ... hes a great barber i agree but if your going to line me up do it with just the razor and other sharp tools. Don't spray any paint after you mess up or something to make the black spray look like its hair... cause eventually after washing and showering the spray will erase and then it will look like my hairline not even.. no hate just saying.
