Baltimore bridge collapse | Nearby resident says it sounded like an earthquake

A major bridge in Baltimore snapped and collapsed after a container ship rammed into it early Tuesday, and several vehicles fell into the river below. Rescuers were searching for at least seven people in the water.
The vessel appears to have hit one of the supports of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing the roadway to break apart in several places and plunge into the water, according to a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. The ship caught fire, and thick, black smoke billowed out of it.

Some of the cars on the bridge appear to be completely stopped moments before the ship hits. I wonder if those drivers saw what was about to happen and tried to avoid it. Also, I can't imagine how scary that must've been to see the road fall away and realize that you're about to plummet into the dark cold water below
There were construction crews working on the bridge which is likely what you could see. Apparently a mayday call was issued and traffic onto the bridge stopped only moments before the impact.

@@denniswallace4868 You get audio on their, so when u go to play back the video footage u’ll be able to hear everything on their!!!😯 Video cameras are not sound activated, more motion if anything but any kind of noise regardless of motion will be picked up on the video.👀

I don't think the ship sounded it's horns. The construction crew could have easily have gotten off of the bridge if they had. The man also didn't mention waking up to ship horns blaring.
