In the books Sookie has to deal with Debbie's parents and sister for multiple books. Shame they didn't bring this plot to the show. Would have been great.
I think it has more to do with her lying about killing Debbie. She didn't trust him enough with the truth. Yeah he loved Debbie, but by this point he clearly had feelings for Sookie as well. Plus Alcide was smart enough to recognize that Debbie killing Tara and attempting to kill Sookie is the only reason Sookie killed Debbie. He'd likely done the same in Sookie's shoes if someone had killed his best friend in front of him.
