As someone who works at a daycare, I can say that I have first hand seen the very negative effects technology can have on kids. We have a rule at the preschool that the kids can have an hour of screen time in the morning, and another hour in the afternoon. But one little boy who recently joined our class was a single child to two parents who just gave him an iPad at home and didn't limit screen time at all, because they knew it would keep him busy. So the very same day he arrived, after the hour of screen time in the morning was up, all the kids put their devices away and went off to read or play with toys. All except for the new kid. I asked him to put the iPad away and go join some kids, but he refused. I asked him a few more times, and he still refused before yelling at me that I was "a sucky adult" and that I "couldn't tell him what to do." So, when I finally just took the iPad from him, he screamed, suddenly tackled me to the floor and bit my arm. We aren't allowed to touch the kids even in defense in situations like this, so I had to lay there and take it. Eventually, another teacher pulled the kid off me, but I had the bite marks in my arm for three days! Parents! Please raise your kids and teach them to act right instead of letting them be slaves to technology!
I was definitely on the side of the therapist, the child's wellbeing takes precedence in this situation and to be honest she is right as Gemma does a real bad job for like 75% of the movie even emotionally manipulating her into going to the premier. Also side note, M3gan is physically played by Amie Donald and voiced by Jenna Davis
Therapist was horribly written though, she was a judgemental grunt from the minute she walked on screen. She should have addressed a situation with a child who had a day ago lost her mother and father with a lot more empathy than she showed to Kaddie and Gemma from the get go.
Gemma's aha had to come later for the flow of the movie. Also, she was dealing with loss too but stuffed her feelings. The whole thing was a message for us today. How many plunk a device in front of a child to babysit instead of talking to/ interacting with them?

the movie was amazing. i didn't know what to expect going into it, but it was so fun the whole way through. It had a little bit of everything. the whole time watching it the little girl playing Cady looked so familiar and I couldn't put my finger on it. come to find out she's the younger sister of the girl from The Black Phone. The acting of the boss guy drove me CRAZY in this but other than that I loved it. He was just SO hammy and phony it annoyed the hell out of me and I'm not usually so particular.
