    I watched a TED talk before this about Lygometry...the things we don't know. For 15 years or more I didn't know how to do the reverse penetration. Now I do! When I perform Crazy Mans Handcuffs the first time I do the over convincing method with the sucker moves but the second time more or less clean and I always get a bigger applause for this. Now I know why! Thanks very much. I really appreciate the tips and subtleties.

    Nice explanation and well produced video! For those who complain about reveals: First you can buy the methods and demonstration for any trick going. It's good that people are making it available for those who can't afford the usually inflated prices. Second, you can teach someone about what the keys on a piano do but for them to learn to play is another thing. It's the same with magic. I'm not sure which magician to credit with that quote but it was a famous one. Well done magic is an art and it's nice to see it done well here.

    it amazes me how there are a bunch of other tutorials for plenty of other magic tricks (including crazy mans handcuffs) and techniques and yet people continue to criticize fernando for sharing these videos. to the haters: how about spending more time criticizing and protesting against people who deliberately buy other artists tricks to expose their ORIGINAL trick or technique on youtube. THAT is stealing and taking bread out of other artists mouths. there are plenty out there, so why not spend your time there instead of criticizing him? what fernando is doing is not theft. obviously anyone who appreciates the art of magic will appreciate what fernando shares. you don't see other magicians complaining here, just ignorant people who have no clue what they are talking about.
    anyway fernando, I myself, as an aspiring magician actually appreciates what you do and what you share. I have watched plenty of your videos and have yet to see you expose any other artist's original trick. don't let those people discourage you. also I want to thank you because there are a lot of useful tricks and techniques that I have learned from you that I have incorporated to create my own tricks and routines. so thank you for everything you share, you've made me a better artist because of what you do. keep up the good work!

      i criticize everyone who does it where ever i find it. dont make assumptions without any real facts behind your statements. so according to your argument IF i have taken the time to criticize others then i have the right to criticize fernando as well. well, i have, so i do; according to you.
      if you are really into magic and you watch the professionals in the community who take pieces of others work to generate their own ideas they take the time and effort to find out who they are taking the material from and they credit them.
      try this, do a search right now for who invented the crazy mans handcuffs and in minutes you will find out. why cant fernando do this and give the inventor credit AND still give the tutorial? do you think the man who invented this deserves to be recognized? the man who invented this owns a little magic shop in san francisco and is not a rich mega-magician. he worked hard in the industry for years and he deserves to be rewarded for his work even if it is a note in the liner.
      do you think i am ignorant because i want people to show love and respect to others who have put the hard work in before them?
      what i really want to know is why fernando is so against crediting others? from the past posts many of the people dont say NOT to do the reveal, just to give credit. why does he resists showing respect for others intellectual property. is it glory, avarice, what is it?

    • @jamesonburke9039
      @jamesonburke9039 Před 9 lety +3

      +jamie c winters if you know your stuff about magic and the origins and whatnot that's great. I'm not necessarily calling you ignorant but generally speaking, most people that criticize him are people who know nothing of the art. magic is an art where tricks and techniques are passed down from magician to magician, that's how we all learn. however crazy man's handcuffs in particular is a very old effect that many people know but not many know where it came from. the fact that he didn't credit anyone doesn't make him a thief. if he sat there and TOOK credit as his effect, I would be saying something too but he doesn't claim anything.
      how about all the tutorials out there on the pass? do you think they are thieves because they didn't take time to look up who created the pass and credit them? of course not. also what if someone sees a technique or trick somewhere, figures it out themselves, and shares it and doesn't give credit to the originator? truth is, it doesn't matter man, especially in this situation. like I said before, there are plenty out there who purchase other artists effects with the intention of exposing it. that's where the attention should be. I think by fernando not giving or taking credit is being misconstrued by people into making him seem like something he's not. maybe a quick mention of where he learned certain things or where the move came from is in order, but that's subjective and is ultimately up to him. anyway I don't see any theft here or credit being taken, if I ever do, I'll be right there with you saying something too. but until then, keep up the good work fernando...

      you start by saying that magic is this skill that is handed down from magician to magician through the years; this is true but what you dont go one to explain is why it is ok not to then give credit to that heritage. surly if this passing of the torch is so vital to the survival of magic you would assume that magicians would be eager to give proper credit when they are able correct? so why is my questioning fernando over his failure to do this time and time again an insult to you? if you believe this heritage of magic is so important then i could only assume you would also want fernando to give tribute to it. why do you excuse him? let me add, many magicians do in fact give credit in their tutorials and to their sources but fernando does not. why are you excusing him from the behavior that the rest of the magic community and you yourself say is so important?
      now, let me ask you the same question i asked fernando but generalize it to your principal of acceptable behavior regarding this trick.
      if i came across a song that i didnt know the title of nor who wrote it but i sat down and figured out how to play it and then took that sheet music and published it in a public forum without giving any note as to its inauthenticity or at the very least being upfront and saying how i got it would that somehow not be plagiarism? giving credit to source material is not subjective; it is at the very heart of the matter and the integral question in regards to intellectual property.
      as to your excuse of someone not knowing the origin of something in this day and age is ridiculous. it took me less than a minute to find the creator of this trick even though i knew who it was. i did the web search anyway with a fairly simple search string and it was in the top five listings. either you are excusing fernando for not doing his homework or you are insinuating the he is incapable; either is laughable and you know it. you can find anything you want to now with the web; excusing oneself from doing so is not an acceptable answer anymore. as a side, i find it amusing you think that he cant find the information regarding the creator of a move but he can find the move to reveal. think about that.
      now, as you rush to formulate your vitriol filled response, let me ask you take a moment and reread everything i have said and then let me say this again and be absolutely clear. my contention from the very beginning is not that he shouldnt post this or any other reveal video; my contention is that he should disclaim what he is doing if he is unwilling to take the time to give respect to the creator of the moves he reveals. several people have said the same thing; be honest - be respectful. why is that so hard?

    magic will vanish itself in a few years if you don't share the secrets with others
    no need to argue with them
    you are awesome and keep it up

    • @jangray395
      @jangray395 Před 4 lety

      What logic vacuum do you live in you silly twat. Magic will vanish itself if u don't share the secrets?
      Erm, never happened before the friggin internet so why, pray tell oh wise one, would it happen now?
      Answer - it won't.
      The only difference then and now is that secrets were always passed on and handed down, through word of mouth, by mentor to student, via lecture g magician in magic shop to eager students or group of learner magicians and of course through books.
      So what was the difference?
      Before the internet era of "fuck you I only care for me", all of those methods i named were done along with one other thing. The secrets were passed along, ALONG WITH THE NAMES OF THE PEOPLE WHO CREATED AND THEN DEVELOPED THOSE SECRETS. IT IS CALLED CREDITING AND IT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT SHOWING REVERENCE AND RESPECT, IT ALLOWS US TO KEEP ORDER AND KNOW WHERE IT ALL COMES FROM.

    so what is it that makes you think it is ok to reveal the work of others without crediting them but you credit the music you use? if you feel it important to use the music of others and credit them for their benefit then why not the magic? if you use the music to promote your video and make it better then surly the effect you are using that is not your creation deserves at least as much credit.
    what disturbs me though is how you refer to it as 'my personal best'. is it yours? did you in fact make it? if you remixed the music for the video would you call it 'your song'?
    you have been called on this disrespect several times before over the years; perhaps there is something to this or do you really believe in your heart that everyone is wrong but you? does not god speak through us? is he perhaps not talking to you about theft?
    and no, quoting the bible doesnt give people credit for their work or help them feed themselves and their families.
    if you truly believe in supporting the magic community then by all means support the magic community. please stop disrespecting it and at least credit your work like everyone else does.

    • @fernandop1
      @fernandop1  Před 9 lety +5

      Thanks for sharing your concern, I think someday I will make a live video with me talking with all the haters at the same time, even though I don't think is going anywhere since selfishness doesn't change in a matter of a minute, and therefore haters will not be comfortable regardless my answers.
      The music was created from a friend of mine exclusively for my videos as support (I wish he sell them, but he don't want to).
      Regarding credits base on ideas, sometimes I don't even credit them to myself. Eg. I create this inverse method and I didn't even credit it to myself (not even in the video footnote). I don't have a clue who created this trick, I just figure it out since the 80's when David Copperfield did it on TV, and as I already clarified in my Art Zone website, I don't belong to any magic community for me to know anything about origins, I just figure them all out myself (at least most of them). That's why you don't see me following the rules and/or steps they may suggest in their tutorials (if any).
      The term "My personal best" has nothing to do with origins, it has to do with what I personally like as a taste, not as a creation.
      You can't call me theft because this is not stealing, otherwise it would be illegal. Is like calling thieves all those who explain a secret food recipe. Is like calling thieves all people who buy generic products by the fact they are inexpensive compare as the original ones (which you may fall into that category).
      I am not here for the magic community, I am here for the laymen. Magic communities are mostly full of profanity rather than education (most of them, not all of them).
      Best regards.

    • @fernandop1
      @fernandop1  Před 9 lety

      ***** Hi Jamie, as a matter of fact few people have been doing that, they took pieces of songs even pieces of some of my videos without even asking me or giving me credits and up to now I haven't said anything to them nor I have done a DMCA claim. I mean I can, but I don't think is that big of a deal for me.
      Have you watch the tutorial of Michael Ammar directly? Did he said how he got inspire or it is a move from somebody else? Because as far as I am aware, Michael Ammar have tons of tutorials from other magicians with and without permission.
      Take care.
