Oh, that was mighty mighty fine.
Einfach grandios was du aus der Hammond herausholst...so viele Nuancen und Klangschattierungen...der Erfinder wäre immens stolz ...
Fantastic Moment In Time 💖
Magnifique solo hammond !!
People in love with what they do....
Great tones Dennerlein produces out of her organ rig. She gets a touch out of the organ which is usually only possible on the piano via velocity. Impressive range of articulations and tones. Yea, the pedal bass is swinging and so independent. I think her pedal technique is very unique unto her. I haven't heard the pedal bass lines like this from other great organists who share the bass lines primarily between left hand bass and left foot. Inspiring for sure.
Her pedal work is amazing. She must have had classical training as a girl. I've seen videos of her in 1988 when she was still quite young (22 or 23) and it was all there then. Phenomenal genius.
What a performance from the great Barbara and the fine musicians. Thank you.
Thank you
Second Time watching. LOVED IT! It's bluesy and soulful at the same time... LOVED IT! Barbara is incredible!
Love this trio! What's really impressive is the way Ms Dennerlein controls the formidable technology of her instrument. Grassroots jazz, bar none!
Sometimes... the right Man for the Job is a Woman! Fabulous artist.

What organ model is Barbara playing here?
Have mercy sukie sukie now
Если случиться посетит Германию, обязательно, очаровательная Барбора, обываю на Вашем концерте или репетиции, если позволите!В каком городе Вы проживаете?Я родился в Бернбурге 74 года назад.
James Rolfe, the Angry Video Game Nerd on drums.
shades of Keith Emerson
Keith Emerson actually was a big fan of Barbara Dennerlein.
What's in the 'magic box' on top of the organ?
I understood she wanted a more expressive pedal bass. But if you listen, there hers has a lower keyb orchestral fullness that these didn't have. She is a titan. I just wish she would visit the USA.
Awesome playing like always! However, this organ sounds very thin and unpleasing. I've listened to players who couldn't do with both hands what Barabara is doing with one foot on those bass pedals but they still had a much better organ tone. It has for sure a lot to do with that poor sounding Leslie (is it still that Hohner Ort 100?). She should use a Leslie 122/147 or 981 with additional (bass) cab - maybe a Leslie 525 stationary cab or some highend PA speaker - in order to get a better bass response and fatter organ tone. I'm also sure that someone could built a road cab for the Leslie if that's the issue. That stationary cab would come in handy if other sounds (e.g. vibraphone) are used.
In an interview, she said that she loves the mechanical noises of the organ. Maybe that's the reason why she chose for a thinner sound here: to leave these sounds hearable?
@@0cer0 The only mechanical "noise" one should hear if a Hammond is in proper working condition is the "key click". Hammond himself considered that a weakness of his instruments but it's actually necessary. Key click comes with mechanical wear of key contacts (9 mechanical contacts per key!). As as result, additional pitches are added every time a note is played (to each note different pitches because each key experiences different wear of contacts). That's what makes a Hammond sound brilliant in the first place, belief it or not (without key click those instruments would really sound dull)! However, the key click's contribution is always there and clearly noticable - thin sound or not and that's the point. There's no good explanation why one would use a rotary speaker cabinet which is obviously completely inferior to what I mentioned in my original comment. As soon as you're using an original Hammond tonewheel console organ (even if it's a chopped one), transportation can't be a topic of discussion because that's already something very heavy and bulky. Nowadays, I consider a really good amplification to be more important than having an original vintage organ on stage because those modern clones keep getting better and better. However, for a world class player who's able to get the most out of a Hammond, it has to be an original organ. Plus, if every so little detail is heard by the audience it really makes a lot of sense too.
@@hammondvoodoo9555 Barbara explicitly said in an interview, that she likes the mechanical noises and considers these as a part of her sound.
immer das zelbe
Und immer das Gelbe (vom Ei). Und sowieso immer die Elbe. Und manchmal auch der Welpe (aber der steht auf einem Anderen platt).
stuck to his mouth, so to speak
Barbara, love you but you need a drummer that pushes and does not accompany and nothing more -
After your comment realised that fact too
SAx? really? Wasn't the point in one of your interviews was to get away from FREE JAZZ = JUNK JAZZ for SNOBS?
The electronics makes me want to gag. Just play the damn thing....
