I have the ST-GT550 also (although not listened to it for years). My previous Technics tuner was the ST-G45AL. That was excellent sounding also! I also have a slightly lesser model of CD player too - the SL-PS670A.
I have the smaller brother of it the ST-GT350 i bought it from ebay in a low price as used today i've received the item i'm very happy very good receiver in fully working order looks like new no scratches at all and very good sound quality :-)
Hello! there is the same Technics st-gt550, all radio stations accept normally, but the stereo problem, when the bass starts in music, the stereo indicator and qurtz lock start jumping to the beat of the music, and this is audible in the celons and very annoying. When, for example, the announcer says, then everything is fine. I read in many forums, many people have encountered this problem with this model of the tuner. They offer to turn the coil T101, and the variable resistor VR-301, after turning the T101, became better, but it still happens that the indicator blinks. Even read on the Polish forum, the person managed to get rid of this problem by dropping out some details. I now wonder if this is a flaw in this model or is already a breakdown. Dear, I ask you to respond, maybe no one has the same device and the same problems with it, it’s just that the sound is ahrenny, I haven’t heard any tuners, I really want to fix it, I can fix the equipment. Antennas which just did not try.
You can "lock" the radio station by holding the FM button for a few seconds. Then you can recieve any FM stereo broadcast without the stereo mode jumping to the beat of music. B.T.W The "jumping to the beat of music" comes from the fact that most FM stations are using very heavy audio processing. That means that sometimes the radio station is over-modulating, from the allowed standard of 75 +/- kHz. Your Technics FM tuner is all set to max allowed modulating standard of 75 +/- kHz. That's why you get "jumping to the beat of the music".
@@gagarinone are there any newer versions of this and does the newer stuff also have somekind of advanced digital stuff that these older ones cant really play/process or smth ?
Здравствуйте! есть такой же Technics st-gt550, все радиостанции принимает нормально,но проблема со стереорежимом, когда начинаются басы в музыке , индикатор стерео и qurtz lock начинают прыгать в такт музыке, и это слышно в калонках и очень раздражает. Когда например диктор говорит , то всё нормально. Читал на многих форумах, люди многие сталкивались с данной проблемой у этой модели тюнера.Предлагают покрутить катушку T101,и переменный резистор VR-301, после того как покрутил T101, стало получше , но всё равно бывает что индикатор моргает. Даже читал на польском форуме, человеку удалось избавится от этой проблеммы выпаяв некоторые детали. Мне вот интересно это недоработки данной модели или уже поломка. Уважаемые, прошу откликнутся , может у кого ни будь есть такой же аппарат и такие же поблеммы с ним, просто звук у него ахрененный, лучше тюнеров не слышал, очень хочется починить, аппаратуру чинить умею. Антенны какие только не пробывал.

Your Technics FM tuner is all set to max allowed modulating standard of 75 +/- kHz. That's why you get "jumping to the beat of the music".
