This mod is missing the historically accurate alligator cannon, hopefully they’ll add it in a future update
It had something to do with the gator cannon's AI erroring out after firing the first shot.
@markh995 the gator died after the first shot, so uh yeah kinda makes sense.
It’s mental that Britain was fighting 2 big wars at once on against a short Frenchie and his mustache guard and one against America and there baldy eagles

I mean, all we did was mainly bobbed around the sea most of the war.
While we had an army in Spain it’s was more of a annoyance for the French in the war, the other European powers handled them (eventually).
And the 1812 war that was majority handled by the Canadians with some Royal Navy ships (not that they did anything of note)
Aside from one or two notable engagements in the time period, I would argue we where more Junior partners in what what the very complex political situation at the time.
Napoleon wasn't short, he was a normal height for his time, it was British propaganda that made everyone think he's short.

Random tidbits
The battle of New Orleans is often mistaken as happening after the war. The Treaty of Ghent was signed, but not ratified by the US. The battle that did happen after the ratification was the battle of the sink hole, where British allied natives had not been told about the treaty.
The US army at the battle was incredibly mixed. There was regular soldiers, Marines, Choctaw, militia from multiple states, french/spanish creoles, Hatians (who escaped the Hatian revolution), pirates, etc. Orders needed to be translated in 5 languages.
The New Orleans militia was Jean Baptiste Plauche's Battalion d'Orleans. Their uniforms were French in design, though it's not concrete that they all had bearskins (we do know they at least had some, though).
Pakenham's forces were not exactly high on morale by the time of the battle as gunboat harassment, night raids, and the environment itself (of which several men had drown in the swamps) had taken a toll.
Most the British casualties were by the artillery, not musket fire. On that note: the cotton bales were actually to keep the US artillery from sinking into the ground.

It has been a long time since they sent you a replay of a perfect linear battle, as shown in this video, at times it seemed like a real confrontation, because the coordination was such that instead of a 4 vs 4, it seemed like a 1 vs 1 and it was enjoyable. XD

Another rule should've been that the southern side of the American line is a river and cannot be used for flanking except for a single British battery on the other side of the river that did historically happen. The American ranks could not be outflanked from the south unless they hopped on boats and sailed by which was a plan but did not happen.

Hi, I am a napoleonic enjoyer and have NTW3, I have some friends where I can do 1v1s with but I don't have enough to do big and epic battles like these.

Does this mod support ships on battle maps? The US privateer flotillas were crucial to their defense
There's a few maps with ships but they're not controllable, this maps is bladensburg so it's not even new oreleans
the unit speed in this mod is borderline game braking for me, I wish there was some way to change it ;/

i'm going to resist the urge to rant about how we won this war and that this battle was pointless as the war was over when it happened and just settle for being happy that the conflict is mentioned and proudly announce that the uniforms you thought looked cool at 7:14 were my own home boys, the incorporated militia of upper canada.

Well, I can certainly see why Canadians believe they won the war. Americans make the same claim. The reason for this, I believe, is because the United States, Canada, UK, and the Native Americans all had different goals in mind. I've broken it down like this:
Canada: The only true winner. Their goal was to keep the United States out of Canada and they managed that.
United States: Won the morale victory. While nothing was officially settled by the war on paper, the British were forced to accept America's demands in an unofficial capacity and the United States knew it.
The British: Did not lose. The British army conducted itself very well during the War of 1812. It was enough to save face. The British would end up not conceding anything officially, but they failed embarrassingly to subjugate the United States and to punish her.
The Native Americans: The only true losers of the War of 1812. With the death of Tecumseh, any dream of an Indian Confederacy died with him at the Battle of Thames. His legacy would leave a bad taste in America's mouth for Native Americans for a while. (I'm not going to go through the particulars, but Tecumseh was not a really great individual like he is typically cracked up to be.)
Noone won the war it was a stalemate. The US didn't conquer Canada, large parts of Washington was burnt to the ground and the British could no longer bully the US and kidnap US sea men. Noone really gained their objectives

I doubt it. While the United States favored France, they disliked Napoleon (that said, they disliked the British Empire and their monarchical allies even more). The US did not want to see France fall because it would potentially mean the end of republicanism in Europe, but they had no real love in their hearts for France falling under imperial rule under Napoleon. At one point, President Madison considered declaring war on both France and England at the same time even.
@wyattjenkins7898 - I doubt it. As you already mentioned the US did not have a navy capable of beating/eclipsing (with Napoleon) the Royal Navy. On land, the US were beaten back in nearly every decisive battle except in rare circumstances such as New Orleans.
@@Chris-pi5vvIt would be incorrect to say that the US was beaten in nearly every battle. Most yes, but in the last half of the War of 1812, the US army had found its footing and more competent generalship and was able to beat the British army routinely.
@@haswordmaster1497 - The US army were pushed back into its own territory. To put this bluntly, the War of 1812 was a minor part of the Napoleonic Wars. The thing a lot of people don't know about the war of 1812 is that it was fought entirely by the South, the North didn't help fight off an invasion of their own country. New England supported you guessed it, England, and the South supported the French. The country was already hugely divided even before the Civil War.
What do you mean 'by the South'? are you referring to the Southern States or?
Just for clarity, when you say South you are meaning what they would have considered both the South AND the Western states. A very important distinction. It would be ill-advised to connect this division you speak of to the Civil War. Remember, after the fall of the Federalist Party after the Hartford Convention embarrassment, the United States went through what was known as the Era of Good Feelings: pretty much the only time in American history where we had a uni-party system. Everyone was united, but only for a while. Eventually this one party--the Democratic-Republican Party--would find itself splitting up. Jackson's followers would start calling themselves Democrats. Followers of Clay and Webster would become the Whigs who would reform into the Free Soilers, and finally the Republican Party (the anti-slave party which was so named as a call back to the party of Jefferson and Madison.) These new differences over the exact nature of state and federal sovereignty, tariffs, and slavery would lead to the Civil War.
@@haswordmaster1497 Sure, some miltias in the western territories fought too, my point was that New England did not fight. New England supported a strong central government with an alliance to the British and the South supported a smaller government with an alliance to the French. New England had low support throughout the war and no wanted to join up to fight the British, banks from New England refused to even finance the war.
There was tension before the Civil War, New England was not only blocking administration efforts to finance the war but there was fear of New England discussing a seperate peace with Britain, which would have meant secession, which is why Madison had to send federal troops to Albany New York just in case he needed to crush a New England rebellion.
It's fine, not many people know about this, it's fine, I know, I'm a smart ass, just thought I'd share a fun fact from history; that's all.
If you are talking about New Orleans, kind of. Jackson's army did have Hatian revolution refugees (which would make up the Free Men of Colour) in the massive mix. The 4th rifles also had their depots in Pennsylvania and New York.
If you are saying the War of 1812 as a whole? That is false. Incredibly false.
5th, 6th, 16th, and 22nd Infantry = Pennsylvania
4th infantry = New Hampshire
9th and 21st = Massachusetts
1st and 15th = New Jersey
etc, etc.
And that's not to mention the volunteers, Volunteers, or militia (such as the Pittsburgh "Blues", Maryland militia, Vermont at Plattsburgh, etc.)
@@samtheman9002 I already knew all those details. In addition, if the British in Canada wanted any intelligence on the American armed forces, they would simply read New England newspapers which knowingly would leak information to them. My point was that the differences that led to the Civil War was of a different nature (though it had its origins at this time as you mentioned). It just seems a bit of a stretch to make a direct correlation between the differences then and the differences 50 years later which would evolve. After all, the northern states were actively talking about secession during the War of 1812, and they would come to deny that it was even possible to secede only a few decades later (which would always be a point of embarrassment for the Union).
That said, I may have overstated my own case. There always was tension between the northern and southern states. This is something that Madison pointed out during the Constitutional Convention when the small states were concerned that the larger states would try to edge them out through popular representation in both the House and Senate. Madison declared that the there was absolutely no reason for states like Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts to ally with each other because they rarely agreed on anything. He even went so far as to say that the real division in the country would be northern versus southern, slave states versus non slave states. So, I guess you're right in that sense.
