    here are 15 things to get done before and arriving to sasebo. Made a list to the best of my ability to give everyone coming some sort of an idea of what to do to relieve some stress. I've been their. It gets kind of overwhelming moving overseas but Japan is beautiful and such an amazing experience. I will be doing more videos like this in the future so be sure to subscribe for future videos. Sorry about my facial expressions I tend to be over expressive when I talk lol
    If you like this video be sure to give a thumbs up and subscribe to be up to date. Thanks for watching. Any questions leave below and I will answer to the best of my ability

    Was there ( Branch Med Clinic ) Sept. '89 - Nov. '91.... gawd, has it been that long ago?... Seen videos of things now. Biggest shock is that big ugly hiway in front of the base - building that destroyed my old haunts.

    This is an excellent video, it's very informative. My husband and I were there from 2008-2011 but we didn't have any kids then and stayed off base. We're hoping to finish his career off with our last duty station there in Japan, hopefully Sasebo again. We enjoyed it and it's by far our favourite duty station. Thank you for the video, it'll be my go to reference if we get lucky.

    OML girl, THANK YOU!! I'm heading over to Sasebo this Friday and I've been on my game, but you know the military throws curve balls. I also have 2 kids (one 6yrs old and one 3yrs old) and I'm pretty much doing everything on my own, but I always make sure I have POA because... Damn. This video is like A++ Thank you!

      Thank you so much! Glad I could be of assistance. Welcome to Sasebo you will love the new experience. I have 3 kids soon to to be 6 year old, a 3 year old and a 6 month old. Yessss! Make sure you have your POA for everything including housing and vehicle purchase. That way you can get the car registered and change the name of the jci if your thinking of getting your license during AOB. ☺

      @@mariangelyloves Oh my! Congrats on your 3rd baby! I'm just glad that I learnt some Japanese before my husband received the orders. (coincidentally, I was in Kyoto when we found out we were going to Sasebo lol)

      Thank you 🤗 yes I'm in the process of learning it. I've been here a year and a half and got lazy but I'm picking up on some things now haha. We were only supposed to stay here a year since he was on the ship that just left but just we cross decked to one of the new ones coming in so I got another 3 years added to learn some japanese

    We are getting stationed in Sasebo japan in March, my husband is going to be in the New Orleans. and all the things I have to do is so overwhelming. This helped a lot! I’m freaking out 😱

      Also, is it hard driving out there?? I’m nervous about the roads lol

      Welcome! My husband was on the wasp (the ship that just left). We loved it so much here we didnt want to leave so he put in a request to cross deck and he is now on the New Orleans so we have another 3 more years added her. We might see eachother around 😊. Driving is fairly easy. Everything is just opposite. You drive on the right side on the car and drive on the left side of the roads. Only thing that sucks is the way they handle traffic put here. You can not turn on red, alot of the roads dont have turning signals so you have to press your luck or wait till you feel comfortable turning (you will be holding up traffic). Its scary at first since some roads are small and tight. But you will get used to it

      Did you get all your household goods sent in advance to moving? We are confused on when we need to send our things.

    • @mariangelyloves

      @@keirstanrogers3486 in our case my husband had A-school prior to going to sasebo in Virginia. So we got our things picked up in December 2017, I stayed at my parents house while he was in school for January, we got here march 1st 2018. And our things arrived the day before we moved into housing which was March 14th. So it took our stuff roughly 3 months to get here. We were on the east coast it it takes a little longer. But I've seen families that transfer to sasebo from the west coast and it takes like a month or 2. Just have to remember that they will not send the stuff out until the cargo ship is completely full

    • @mariangelyloves
      @mariangelyloves  Před 4 lety +1

      @@keirstanrogers3486 I would definitely send it ahead if it's possible. They hold your stuff I believe for 30 or 60 days (cant remember) if it arrives before you do, you can also call for an extension if the time runs out. Also You do get loaner furniture here if your stuff has not arrived. It's not the best but it gets you by lol

    Never understood why military folks get pets

  • @caldwell12590
    @caldwell12590 Před 4 lety +1

    Your facts about the pets is a little off. It doesn't have to cost money in order to bring a pet AS LONG AS you get your PRR in time to reserve a spot for your pet. Also you can complete quarantine before you leave the US which also will save you TONS of money in the long run. Otherwise good video!

    • @mariangelyloves
      @mariangelyloves  Před 4 lety

      @caldwell12590 I will definitely look into that thanks for that info. From what I have seen based off those who came with there pets they all paid out of pocket from hundreds to thousands of $$. Seems like everyone has different experiences with cost and quarantine. I have gained better info since I uploaded this video months ago so I will definitely do an updated video in the near future. I’ll definitely look into the possibility of not having to pay to pass on that info, thank you!

    Do you know if single sailors (E5 over 4yrs) are typically able to claim BAH in Sasebo?

    What is AOB?

    • @mariangelyloves
      @mariangelyloves  Před 3 lety

      AOB is a course you have to take upon arrival to sasebo. It’s a week long and they basically explain the things you need to know about living in the community and in Japan in general. At the end of the week course you can sign up for your SOFA drivers license to be able to drive in Japan. You sign up when you arrive to take the course or you can have your sponser sign your family up for the course. No kids allowed it’s just active duty member and sponser

    Can you rent from a local out in town? Like non-Navy housing?
    *EDIT* no kids here if that makes a difference 🤷‍♂️

    • @mariangelyloves
      @mariangelyloves  Před 4 lety

      Nothing Original in order to rent out in town you have to go through housing. They have listings that are approved through the military. Just have to make sure you save up for your deposite because depending on the apartment or house your deposite could be anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000 just to get the place and move in. Since you have no kids it will be easier to move out in town if that’s what you want, as they like to cater available housing for sponsers with kids
