      @@sleighet-xf6tv I like your approach and breakdown, I would only put Whitney above both and Marvin Gaye at the All Star game in LA at the forum in the 4th spot

    I loved Whitney's as well, but she actually sang along to a prerecorded track...so I have to give the edge to Chris. He not only changed the song up with his rendition (everyone always sing the song trying to hit those high notes), but he played the guitar. I loved how his version was different from the classic way everyone sings it.

    • @bishopscornerreloaded226
      @bishopscornerreloaded226  Před rokem +3

      I didn’t know Whitney’s was prerecorded, so that definitely has me 2nd guessing my pick.

      @shaza66t Před rokem +8

      I agree. Whitney's version is beautiful but it was prerecorded in the studio and Chris Stapleton is live. Just a man and his guitar.

    Whitney used to be my favorite rendition too until I learned that she lip synced. Chris had the most patriotic, emotional and pure rendition I’ve ever heard before! He is the goat and nobody will ever top his wonderful heartfelt performance! Ps Happy birthday 🎉

    Great reaction. As a fellow veteran I thank you. Also as a veteran I felt pride in my heart hearing this beautiful rendition of our Anthem. I just watch the Top 10 Super bowl Anthems. Of course it was done before this performance because Chris Stapleton was not even in the top ten. For the next top ten that they do I am sure Witney Houston will be down to number 2.

    First, Happy Belated Birthday Brother! Second, from one veteran to another, I feel the same way about our National Anthem. And I SALUTE you for your service to the country. And finally, Chris' version is the best. Because of everything you stated. He made you feel the honor and sacrifice given to make this country what it is. How many other artists have you heard ACTUALLY sing the anthem live while playing an instrument and making it sound that good??!! Whitney's was great, and at the right time. But she did lip sync hers. Chris doesn't need to, as he has arguably the best live vocals in the entire music industry. IMHO.

    Amazing rendition from an incredible artist. Right up there with Whitney’s in my opinion. One thing that made her’s so emotional for this country was the timing. She sang it in 1991, just weeks after the beginning of Operation Dessert Shield/Storm. It was exactly what the country needed at that time. This is a great start to what this country needs now.

    I feel your comment on the beauty of people who have the ability to elicit emotion using just their vocal cords. It's true Stapleton, who you could argue is the greatest male singer of this generation, accomplished his mission this performance. But there are two things I'd say in response to your reaction:
    1. You don't need to be a singer to use your voice to elicit emotion. You didn't sing your commentary and it had a resonating effect on me. You have a gift from God as well and it may involve your voice as well, although perhaps not singing.
    2. This country has a difficult history to reconcile. I appreciate your restraint in indulging in that topic when it came up. But I think something that often gets overlooked about our country is our ability to self reflect and fix on our own. Virtually every other country in the world relies on the opinion of it's government to take action. Although this has shifted over the recent century, our country is founded on the principle that people and communities are allowed to make decisions they see fit for their best interest.
    Thank you!

    The National Anthem and who wrote it is not (problematic) not even a little. it does not matter if the Devil wrote the song, it is what the song means and stands for that matters. example. R-Kelly is a horrific human, however, his music is soulful and beautiful that is a fact, and there is nothing R-Kelly can do to change that fact. That would be the same as saying, a bad person can do no good. That is a fauls statement it is fundamentally wrong. No, for those who don't agree your opinion does not matter. There is what is true and real and that is all that matters. America did not adopt the songwriter, America adopted the song, and they took on the song as the National Anthem for what the song said the history behind the words in the song, not the writer. This goes for every piece of art in the world. That is beautiful and full of soul does not change because someone owned slaves or even killed other humans. That is not how it works.
    My statement is not an opinion it is a fact, a fact of humanity, this goes for our forefathers as well. it does not matter if they owned slaves, they still were very good people and created the best country in the world, that is wonderful and they are great for it. This is especially true when owning slaves was a normal practice at that time throughout the entire world. You, yes you, any f*ck reading this, you would have owned slaves as well if you lived in that time of history, that is a fact, you just lie to yourself claiming somehow you would be special your not. Humanity has taught us that much, You would have eaten other humans if you lived in the time and tribe of the cannibal, that is just a fact, you take your luck of being born at the time you were, for meaning that somehow you are morally Ritchous, but you are not, you would have committed the sins of our ancestors if you happen to live in there time. There has never been a truer statement.
