I love this stuff , especially when it gets really nerdy
That's what we love to make, real guitar nerdy content!
Hahaha yeah. It's ridiculously cork sniffer. Vinatge, a tiny black stripe on the guitar. đ€ą
Word!
@@andertons *_PLEEESE_* keep right on doing so - *_brilliant/priceless_* insights here....thanx!
For a second I thought you're talking about Pete buying an actual 1958 LP. And I was like, "Pete's children can't be THAT expensive!"
This is better than anything I watch on TV.
Thereâs nothing left on tv. I always said put guitar shows on regular tv but nope not any to be found.
TV is a dead media
Mmmm, not as good as Fargo, but good.
TV has one job and one job only, to brainwash the masses and control the narrative, therefore controlling the masses !
Tell me if you think it's working 2+years into a giant physiological mental operation brought to you by Pfizer đ€ !
When he talks about what makes Pete's LP so special, Pete looks on like a proud father. You guys are awesome, cheers
Can't wait for the "Danish Pete Signature Shirt Collection" from H&M
Lol Andertons replicates everything Pete has đ soon they gonna measure and specs Peteâs underpants and sell em, in purple of course đđŒđ
I'd buy them in a heartbeat
@mbpartđlol
@mbpart This is true but a guy has to try
Wouldnât surprise me
Yes apparently when you wear these Underpants they put your Farts in Tune , no lag .
You can literally Whistle through the Hole of the day
Lee is great! Helping Pete actually buy his dream guitar in a way that he will actually earn it. Keep doing what you re doing guys. These visits at manufacturer s are great, you should do them more often
I'm going to get a heart attack from the way Lee holds that Les Paul :D
Gotta get me some Magic Flame Juice.
This was one of the best information videos that I have seen. My G&L jazz bass was put on the Plek machine and what a difference it made. It's one of the best investments that you can do for you favorite instrument. Keep up the good work. I enjoy all of your videos. Stay safe and well guys. Thank you so much for all of the great content that you give all of us. Signed John Zepbass, from Munster Indiana. U.S.A.
00:35 : YouÂŽre so right, Pete!
Amazing guitar and so much fun to see and hear you playing it so good!
Greetings from Germany!
dear Captain
I've been following this channel since 2010, watching your video with Chapman about the gibson slash signature.
It is great to see after all these years that you still put the same passion in these informative videos, then with this video you have raised a lot the quality of the program , congratulations again from your great fan from Rome.
P.s: sorry but i written with my little knowledge for the language and google translator đ
You did perfect with your English. I have been watching about that long too. From the beginning.
Gentlemen, well done. Its great to see the level craftsmanship from tradesmen and tradeswomen that go into building these higher tier instruments. Wonderful job fellas! BRAVO!!
Captain & Pete really enjoyed the video. Pete you look so excited about about your new find! Thanks for sharing:)!
I once played a 58 goldtop which was absolutely out of this world, it had that something extra that comes down to luck and how the neck and body woods work together, complement eachother's notes.
Loving your content lately guys. This was a great idea for a vid. Thanksđ
This video just shows you guys have really had an amazing arc over the last decade to become important players in the guitar retail scene.
Fair play to lee for such vision and drive. Keep up the great work and excellent content. đ
Cool to see those tops and all the work Sam did. Also thanks for the background playing by the Dane himself - very cool and mellow. Cheers, sideman.
An amazing amount of details go into making a great guitar. Very interesting video!
I remember him playing this or another les paul years ago in a LP display video of yours. It is my favorite of peteâs, there is a feeling out of that guitar thats so personal. I dont know what it was but its pure magic.
Watching this i almost felt part of the component selection process .
Fantastic guitar . Good job I'm more than happy with my gorgeous 90s 57 Fernandes and Epiphone 61 rep sgs or I'd be suffering guitar envy ! Great to enjoy seeing the pleasure you're getting out of developing instruments đ
Wow what a job, what a life! Selecting woods, hanging with Gibson, replicating a badass guitar?! Hell yes.
Shoutout to Jerry Cantrell at 0:16. That video is awesome!
Great vid, good bit of info and amazing marketing! Love the stuff you guys do!
Don't have to convince me. I've owned my R9 since 09 and still love it to death.
My 2010 R7 gold top at 8lb even is also a keeper.
Looking forward to the next vid in the series now. Nice one guys.
Love that the backing track is clearly a strat.
Love these guys! Genuine nice blokes who love the guitar! Top lads! Keep up great work captain đ©ââïžđđž
Just bought me a Les Paul AAA top 50âs Standard! đđ» I am enjoying you guys spiralling down the Les Paul rabbit hole.
When Gibson themselves talk to you in hushed voice about how expensive a guitar is, you probably don't even want to know the number, just to sleep a little better.
What you think it's really worth? $300 - $400k? More?
@@BaconatorJames I have no real idea. To me, even most of their normal stuff is ridiculously expensive, so I can't even begin to guess how much this one is. Hence my previous comment.
@@Case_ A few yrs ago, like maybe in 2017, Gibson did a limited (of course..) run on a LP series with solid colors. Black, Yellow, Orange, Red. I thought great, I'm so damned sick of the burst thing, it's become a church. It's just paint over wood. Not to say Gibson didn't create a work of art, but let's get hold of ourselves - nostalgia is very profitable.
The solid color LPs were up my alley. Different, they looked beautiful, and were essentially the same guitar as any other LP standard. No visible wood grain, just 'pastel' colors. They were sold out before they were even sold publicly, and went for $6k each. I'm really happy for Gibson that they're making money & can't fault anyone for spending it, but there's something a bit silly about modern bursts in that their worth is valued by imitating early ones. The craftsmanship that goes into imitation is fascinating, but good gawd I've got a 50yr old coffee table with wood grain visible & it's worth $2 at a garage sale.
Believe it or not, I'm not saying this to troll - I think Fender burst colors look way better than Gibson. They're deeper, richer looking.
Murphy Lab Les Pauls are in the $6-10,000 range
Gibson had you guys pegged from the start. They wanted in on Fender's purple tele action.
Oh man I loved this video so much! Great job boys!
What an honor. You guys are living the dream
Im always a fan of the modern guitars still have a bunch of them , owning my 1st les paul just 2 years ago im planing to sell those modern guitars and just focus on gibson and fender only . Always nice to see some gibson stuff from andertons so informative and entertaining at the same time !
This was therapeutic to watch, thanks guys!
Great video. Like kids in a candy store. The world needs a bit of feel good like this once in a while.
Great video series so far.
Iâm having a tele/Paul built by a guy in Oklahoma. Ordered a Gibson scale conversion, in vintage satin nitro, from warmoth that will be here tomorrow. Body will arrive mid week. So excited!
Debating on fishman fluence classic humbuckers or a JB/jazz
That is what i can say.. Every guitar player dreamed of..đ
Great vidz..đ
9/2023: Excellent. I Love This!! Beautiful Les Paul. The back is also beautiful. Good Choice.
Pete looks so proud! Like a dad, watching other people say great things about their kid.
P.H. - that is a lovely cavity
L.A. - it is very clean
Iced Tea burst is my favorite Gibson color finish. I think it really brings out the beauty of these musical gems.
Such a shame there isn't an iced tea or lemon for the standard 50s
that would be amazing...should be very cool to see how it turns out...
Love the little burn at 16:06 haha. Good one Pete đ
What a dream job, if anything this has just tempted me to start my own guitar shop so I can one day order 10 custom shop Gibson Les Pauls!
Its amazing how these little details can make or break a guitar for you. I had a 76 reissue explorer built in the 90s and I wish I had never sold it. I had it and a Les Paul and figured why have two guitars with such similar sounds. I eventually bought another that looked exactly the same as the first explorer. I hated it. After a couple weeks of playing it I knew I had to sell it. The neck felt wrong. The pickups had no life in them. There were probably a dozen very small things that were just different. Someone else may have loved that guitar but it just wasnt the tool for me.
killer episode, congratulations !!
Awesome video!
Watching this channel instead of playing more guitar but then it inspires me to play and cof cof buy more guitars.
Great video more of this kind of content would be great.... My question; with all that loveliness in that building, did you come out ordering more guitars than you planned before the visit?
Will be interesting to hear the repro as merely measuring pup output doesnât tell you what is going in with the minutiae of the winding and other factors to make a particular pup sound how it does. Also the density and grain of the body wood, etc. That said, hopefully the repro is killer!
Thanks Guys, great video
Is Sam dancing to the backing music at 4.35? đ€Ł how can he hear it?!?! Itâs like master luthiers can feel the groove before itâs even been added! đđ€đž
Fantastic video, even had to have my favourite LP on my lap while watching. The background music adds so much too. The Captain & Pete are definately my favourite duo.
Great stuff as always boyos!
Great! as always amazing videos
Thanks for tuning in Cesar!
What a great idea! Nice one guys!!
Sitting here watching this, noodling on my R9, Lola ! (Ex Guitar Vault pin-up girl). I think Lee's guitar sounds fantastic, and I've seen it bring out the best in everyone who has ever played it, including Lee.
dude red sox hat killer!! one step closer!! great vid
Brilliant. Love these vids.
Oohh ready in time for Christmas! :-)
You chaps have the best job in the world! That being said, Lee & Pete do a great job of doing a great job! If that makes any sense? đ€Ł
Love the non-specific John Mayer knock-off music in the background. đ
I adjusted the pole pieces on my LP's neck and it went from creamy to stratty. Basically it went from sounding more like Lee's to sounding more like Pete's. It just reduces that cream to not be so muddy, if that's what you want.
And when I say adjusted, I mean by a fraction of an inch...
When you do that, what you're doing is adjusting and balancing the volume from string to string. It helps a whole lot, and it's really dramatic with P90's. The little cardboard hang tag booklet told you to do that way back in ancient times, Gibson recommended it for the best sound, but somewhere along the way, people forgot about it. Now I see it's coming back. That's a good thing. It really does make an audible difference.
Just bought one! Canât wait to get it.
Looks absolutely amazing!
Loved the process and journey.
Dreamed alongside with my Lesterâs
Is there a part 2 ⊠and part 3 âĄïž 6 months đ
Cheers guys

What you canât measure (or maybe in the near future?) are the growth and spirit of the trees which culminated into this fantastic instrument.
Great vid guys keep it up your onto somut.
So we went to a Gibson showroom & didnât expect to leave with a new guitar?? đđ€đŒ pull the other one lads!
Love the video!
I dig the "Ribbon" flame also. It seems they're running out of wood. (maple tops)
Mr Pete and Mr Lee, please please please remember that those tops you found with the mineral streaks similar to Pete's top are not likely to remain once it's carved because the dish carve goes quite deep.
Looking forward to seeing the result anyways!
Yep. When Lee said "make sure you don't carve it from the other side" he couldn't have been more wrong!
Loved the video! A little off topic, but will there be a captain meets John Mayer any time soon? Btw, Iâd love to visit Andertons one day, not that many music shops where I live in Australia
Really? Weâre in a major east coast city. Not one guitar shop left and thereâs never been a boutique guitar store. Thatâs my thing and literally nothing here anymore. One store left for suburb in the neighboring state.
19:15 lIf its âmagic flame juiceâ youâre after, petrol works quite well.
The loudest guitar, and clearly the loudest Les Paul, I own is a Wildwood Spec Featherweight R7. That guitar has especially low wind pickups but everyone who hears it says what a loud guitar is. Pickup output is a major factor in how loud a guitar is but itâs not the only factor. I think itâs especially important to recognise that human hearing is not linear and perception of volume is affected by frequency content of the sound, and I suspect that R7 of mine sounds so loud to people because of the frequencies itâs âpushingâ.
At 11:50 the Captain looks like he has to take a dump and is holding it in lol.
That was fun to watch.
That dark spot might get routed out the when they arch the top on a les paul and go deep into the wood. I always find light dense wood always sounds the best, super hard maple always is more snappy, heavier mahogany is darker. But it all depends on pickup 2.
I can completely understand what this guy pete is saying here! The very same thing happened to me when i bought a 2016 Historic
R8. I loved the guitar and was happy but a few days later a 2018 True Historic R9 NOS became available and when i played it that was it for me! Not only do i not miss that original R8 but the True Historic R9 is even better than i first thought. Turns out the original owner swapped out the stock pots and caps for better ones. Like genuine PIO sprague 60's caps and VIPots. Guitar rings like a bell and sustains better than any Les Paul i have owned before. Some of these Custom shop Re-issue's are really impressive!đ
I have NO CLUE why the owner sold it?đ
Great video, I would to own one of those.
Ha. I was hoping this was 6 months old so I could see the end result!!
I am going to save Pete finish because is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Just right amount of flame, sunburst and relic
bueatiful..the guitar and the playing..but what a turnaround..from Tele to LP... good stuff ;)
Man I wish I could go to a cool place like that
Great show ... very interesting..
Cool way to pay for an expensive guitar đ nice one Pete .. đ
Looking forward to seeing the end result ... đ or who knows might be lucky and get to buy one đ
beautiful show room
I suppose the resistance measurements of the pups only record the wiring impedance....how about the magnetic flux readings of the magnets....that must be a major influence.
I just watched a video of Rhett Shull in that same Gibson showroom. Too cool.
Rhett was in Londonâs Gibson showroom?
@@jklmopqtstuvwxyz5349 yeah. He'd flown over for a show and needed a loaner guitar. It's on his channel.
Love This Video đđđ¶đ¶đž
What pickup measurements were made? It seemed liked a basic resistance measurement to me (resistance varies a lot with room temperature).
Measurements of magnet strength, inductance and coil capacitance are much more revealing and I find you can actually make some prediction of sound based on those values. Ii think you can certainly tell how close two pickups will sound.
I had so much joy watching The Captain, The Pete and The Sam that a single teardrop fell from my right eye at 22.26min. Thank you Andertons! :)
Superb guys. Waiting with baited breath....
Interesting about the potted pickups. Any reason medium jumbo frets were chosen and not narrow tall as per â58 current line up?
I think Pete has found the holy grail of tone. I think guitar found Pete for a purpose. Pete is one of the best guitarist of my time and I'm 57. Don't worry Pete I love my Tele.
But what happened to Goldie his gold top? Sheâs no longer at the top of his list I guess.
Do you have a video link of when Pete first found the LP?
The "2019" acting is the best part of this video (so far...)! Button up the shirt --> 1 year ago
It's a different shirt, though.
....and his hair was different....
I'm sorry , I couldn't read through all of the comments ... But in case it hasn't been brought up , the flecks in the maple that you were pointing out indicates those are eastern maple . I believe that the majority of the tops Gibson used from 1958 to 1960 were eastern my maple tops . Good luck with the guitars and hope you're pleased with them !
Awesome! You guys are like kids in a candy store!
It's like they went to an animal shelter and Pete fell in love with a puppy.
@Jew Tube You heard him say it, the puppy, I mean the guitar, picked him. I kind of think that excuse won't work with your wife when you come home with an expensive new guitar.
