In my recent depression I've taken a liking to synthwave.
Synthwave is like combining the best of the past with the best of the future. For me, no other music genre is able to achieve that in this intensity.

We played this all night Friday with friends over, at times it was perfect background noise to socialize, other times it crescendoed into epic bursts of energy, perfect soundtrack for a hangout without a bunch of tv screens on

I'd say the 90s and very early 2000s had more of that "optimistic future" vibe. Just listen to popular rave music of the time. (Mostly Trance) It was unapologetically happy and uplifting. "Happy Hardcore" even reached its peak in this era.

GLORIOUS 80s!!! Indeed, the FIRST decade that enjoyed the widespread start of consumer tech. BUT was still early enough that most things people needed to do, work for, sweat for and enjoy --- were still very "analog" and simple.
*Like for example using the rotary phone and calling your crush (and hope no one eavesdrops on the shared line) then strategically sending hand-written perfume-infused love letters via snail mail and hoping the postman (or a suspicious father) won't intercept and open it before your crush could.*

The cars looked a lot better also. Being a mechanic, I love working on fuel injected cars with solid state ignition. But today's vehicles are easily the very ugliest vehicles ever to touch the road. I am literally doing my engineering hw with a whole background story in my head where im like the only one left on Earth with the ability to understand these "ancient texts" on material fabrication and I have to learn it so that I can build giant war machines and armor to combat the spread of an evil zombie horde army.......

I'm creating a game/experience called Nostalgia Simulator in order to fix this issue. It's mainly done as a VR experience where the 80/90's come alive but I will make it able to play normally as well.
In this world objects from the 80's/90's movies/games will come alive and you will find yourself in a world where the magic of the 80's/90's is real. I'm trying to make it possible to work on this full time. I am at the moment as I'm unemployed but this will not last for very much longer. I'm thinking of starting a Patreon / Subscribestar in order to make it work. I haven't still as I'm afraid of copyright issues. I hope I can make it work by finding nostalgia in more unknown movie/game productions as those creators may be very happy that someone bring their old art to life in a new medium while acting as a commercial for their original creation.
It will be a free to experience for everyone. It's a passion project for me so if I just can get money enough for survival I would do it. Would anyone reading this want to support such a project if it holds great quality for a 1 person project? And if not, do you think there are other people who would be willing to support such a project? I would very much appreciate an answer for this. Thank you for reading.
