- We have to destroy our compound which we have spent so much time building! Whilst we were away on our roadtrip we received the bad news that they need to be flattened. In this video I explain how that happened and what happens next.
I just want to thank everyone for supporting the build series and watching all the videos! We will be back!
Kara :)

Start a crowdfunder with Tom and Sam to secure some land. I’d contribute 100% 🤙🏻
crowdfunder completed then if you're paying for it all!!
Probably same due that reported Sam
doesnt matter who reports it, the issue lies with the council having the power to deny people the right to private jumps.
@bermchasin true, especially when they agreed with the owner of the land with what your building but it same if you bought a house, you still have to ask permission if you want to make any improvements to it which is stupid
I feel that the person who complained is a complete Cee You Next Tuesday, who as a penchant for sexual activity with their family members
Gooodbye The Tompound, such a shame, your hearts went into that, but you’re right, bigger and better things still to come, keep going, true pair of legends
Thanks so much! Good things to come!
Seeing as how the council has sorted out all the other issues it faces it would make sense that they would deal with this horrendous violation! Glad to see that the system works!
You've tried to inspire the people to riding a bike and this is what you get back.. Humans are animals
I am sad to see the place go. Take your time, I am sure this incident will lead to more new adventures soon. 😊
That's f'd up.
No matter where you are in the world: There are always some stool pigeons who ruin the fun because of rules nobody needs.
and those stool pigeons are usually in the council.
Bring on the Tompound merch!! We'll keep supporting it. Nothing the council can do about that.
So they permit agricultural use on the land. Than it's time to become farmers. Apparently pumpkin and zucchini grow really well in dirt mounds.
^^^. and string beans really thrive with some wooden supports to vine up. And if you need to tend to the top of them you might need a ladder, and of course you need to be disability compliant and build a wheelchair ramp
It's so heartbreaking 😔
Sad to hear this.
😩😩
same thing happen to Sam in his back yard ,,funny I build a trail here on this hill ..suncor pipeline or old pipeline anyways they spend couple million just to destroy it by planting tree and dig hole and hills ,crazy was lots populat tree coming up .put up big fence ,left light plant run day n night all yearr ect
So sorry to hear about the Tom pound some mungral you can not trust them unfortunately. Nothing better to do. Or is it the council saying that because they want to put houses on it . Because it looks a rather big piece of land. This is sad seeing you both putting all your hard earned money and time into this now it’s destroyed 😢unfortunately the way it is supposed I’m sure you will get a chance to build something else in the future
So sad😢
🥰
is it even possible to build any jumps and not have to take it down?
Did you figure out anything about this situation? Are there certain permissions you have to seek? Would it help having a tall fence around it?
Maybe indoor compound could work.
That’s unfortunate! Such a disappointment for you both☹️
Man, that def sucks sorry to hear that. Gota say you guys have some really odd/weird laws ECT over on your side of the pond.
Yeah it sucks!!
@@KaraBeal yah for sure. You'd think being privately owned land & permission and so on from the land owner it'd be okay to lease/rent the land & as long as the land owner is okay with it being for you and tom not open to the public ect its okay to set up and practice /film on.
Just a shame. High quality land improvements have no rights?
If I put up a birdhouse, that doesn't make it a public sanctuary.
I feel the power of land use should belong to the owner, keeping zoning in mind.
If you just had a raised mound of dirt, would this same law apply?
I admit the Tompound looked like an amusement park. Again, high quality and beautiful should be allowed.
Sorry Tom and Kara. That was a lot of heart, planning, and labor. Just know that I as well truly enjoyed it.
Gutted for you both
government - saving us from dangerous private ramps since forever
@@bermchasin it’s that ramp epidemic I keep hearing about, must be all them violent rampings in the news that’s the problem.
It looks like the gipo’s have been there
😢
😩😩
We used to deal with an overbearing british government in the US........
Could you not build something at Radical bikes?
So sad
What a shame. It's sad what the world is coming to
So sad. Don't know what else to say.
Wt literal f~! Can the neighbors even see in to your property? What are you possibility doing to negatively effect your neighbors and/or the community?
Some men just want to watch the world burn
Yep they sure do!
It's ridiculous. Why the council try to ruin alk these places is beyond me
Well, crap.
Thats sucks bigtime
Sure does!
It kills me to see this. I hope someone sees this and brings some kind of major offer to you both, for a piece of land you can actually develop into what you wanted.
That nosey neighbour ruined Sam's Orchrad and now the Tompound. Such a sad day. Must be a hard life going around ruining other folk's fun times. Oh well. Onto the future!
the neighbor didnt destroy the ramps, the government did.
You guys and Sam should leave the UK and come to the US. US has way more freedom to build than the UK.
In short your place isn't open to the public so it's not a bike park
quite. I don't understand how this simple fact isn't an arguable defence?
Very sad. I can’t understand why this has to happen. You aren’t opening this up as a business.
I hope that some how that this change will lead to something better.
So tragic. Next time someone tries this, look into how you can set up a private training ground in your property as an elite athlete. That way even if it looks like a bike park, it can be restricted as to who can use it or visitors, they might have to sign wavers and insurance forms to ride it by invite. You'll be restricted with sizes and shapes of obstacles based on perhaps your sport's governing body but you might stand a better chance.
