Looking like some demonic form of Thomas the Tank Engine, the Char 2C Bis is as heavy as a Maus tank and with 12 crew... it really is a train!
Armed with a 155mm howitzer with HE it is a LOT of fun to play!

The engine is a petrol-electrive drive, much like a locomotive engine or the tiger P. The "transmission" is actually a large electric motor powered by the generators on the end of the two inline 6 cylinder engines. This is why it drives as well in reverse as forward.
Choo choo
The small turret like structure behind the turret is a revolving viewing position. one part stays stationary and the other revolves at high speed with slots cut in it. This keeps MG fire from going in.
Really smart engineering to be honest.

Real life: During Vietnam my uncle served as a driver/gunner on a American 175mm self-propelled howitzer. He said it could hit/kill targets at 22-26+miles! Huge barrel, huge rear blade to prevent flipping over when firing, huge gunpowder sacks, huge in everyway!
in warthunder it will do nothing but destroy the optics on a Tiger II when you hit its turret, just like the T30 does ;-;
His poor ears I bet he lost hearing early on in age.
HE really is fun. My favorite lately is the Me410 with the 50mm. It gets overshadowed by the duck but there’s so many open tops you can one shot with a 50mm HE. M10s die as long as you hit them and SPAA never expect the oneshot.
There's the commander, the loader, the driver and the gunner. The other 8 crew are just running a cafe in the middle.
I mean the slow speed rlly stabilizes the gun, so it’s kinda nice

I love this thing it just trundles along at 15kph with a 155mm cannon to blow anything to smithereens. Probably the most fun I've had playing this game.
Playing low tier has been interesting with all the people using this thing atm

It's been actually designed as of WW1, but it's mainly an interwar tank, not WW2
While the design was started in WW1 they weren't finished until after. Like you say definitely an interwar vehicle. Interestingly, they were taken out of mothball in WW2 but the idea was very quickly decided to be very silly (with the speed of the German advance) and they were sent by train to the south. They came across a blockage on the tracks and the crews detonated the sabotage explosives in the tanks so the Germans were denied them.
I love that the engine fans move on this tank! There a few that do, misty Russian and French tanks but I love the detail.

A thought comes to mind, if you died on that bridge angled sideways covering the whole width, what tank in that BR bracket could pull the wreck away given the tanks weight.
T35 has the same engine power as this, like exactly the same, to the point I think they just got lazy and copy/pasted the engine stats, even. And I think the T28 has the same engine as well with less of its own weight to pull
This thing is basically a cracked mechanized infantry, half of a French platoon fitted into a walking metal box. Overpowered armor, even though it has a low armor it doesn’t matter since this shit has so many crews. And they fit it on a 1.7, good job gaijin

They might add the Char 2C with the 75 i heard, i seen a photo of it in a Phly video when he was playing as the Char 2C. Cant fidn any info about it, but im convinced WW1 is coming to WT soon

I derped a "C Bis with my 2 C Bis frontally twice now. Both times 2 crew members survived.

This sounds counter intuitive but when you fight in this thing you should be sideways to the enemy to minimize the number of crew lost in event of a penetration.
Not when your turret only turns 90 degrees

The cxhallenge is called "Basket Bomb":
Your goal is to acuurately drop a bomb into any open top tanks' turret basket (e.g. M10 / M18 / the big german td's / the german AA's etc.)! Extra points if you use a very low-tier aircraft like a biplane, for the funnies.
I think that would be extremely fun and it would make me so happy if you gave it a try

Listen Odd, I love ya man, but in the third game, you were complaining about the rangefinder, but on two seperate occasions, you saw the range it was giving you, and didn't shoot at the range, and missed.
And the one time it told you 450, and you audibly said "250!?".
And missed.

The arguably most mental one in WWI was Adrian Carton de Wiart, check him out, Sabaton even made a song about him titled The Unkillable Soldier.

The thought of a Stuka head-butting a shell from that Howitzer is just crazy. There won't be enough left of the Stuka to fill your Kepi if anyone called BS on your camp-fire story.
What were they thinking of when the tank was first built? I would suggest it was given the howitzer for dealing with fortified strong-points in support of a general attack.
Sort of like a Churchill AVRE of much later.
From what I have read about these tanks..
They built 10 of the Char 2C right at the end of WW1, they all had the 75mm turret that is also apparently being added to game.
One of them had their turret swapped for this prototype turret with the 155mm howitzer for a while, but when WW2 was starting to ramp up they removed that turret and put the 75mm back on.
Start of WW2 they were outdated propaganda "super tanks" used to inspire people's morale, they were all loaded on a train in transport and were going to get captured so the crews blew them up to avoid them being captured by Germany (having your propaganda "super tanks" being captured intact by the enemy would be really really bad).
There are conflicting stories about the last part, but the above seems to be the most commonly accepted as what actually happened by people who know far more about history than I do lol.
I've said this elsewhere, but this thing is basically a TOG II but French and with a derp gun instead of the 17-pounder.
This is like a braindead TOG lol, just as big and slow but with zero armor and a hilarious trebuchet of a cannon. And the TOG is already braindead...I'm in awe lmao

Odd .... I'm actually surprised you didn't take it to the test range to work out how far off the rangefinder is, since enemies always spawn in same location (well at least in arcade)

The rangefinder issues are because you're not on level ground. The range it gives you is for 0° gun platform so if you're on a 6° slope that's gonna cause huge deviations of range. Hope that helps.
That doesn't make any sense, distance between me and target should not be affected by the slope I'm on.

The range it gives you is an estimated distance based on the gunner’s best guess until you get to tanks that have an actual rangefinder. Odd’s problem this video was a combination of general low tier imprecision, short barrel imprecision, and the fact that he either misread the rangefinder or misjudged the distance he had set. The 550 range from the first game on Sinai was a lot closer to 600 in the scope, and the 250 he saw in the rangefinder actually said 450.
@@LugborG You do know that projectiles travel different distances when shot at different angles relative to level line?
@@WigglyWings You do know that the gun elevates to the distance you set, and isn’t affected by the angle of the tank as long as the target is still within its ability to traverse, right? None of those shots were at a significant angle to either side, and as they were still within the movement limits of the gun, the angle the tank sat at made no difference.
@@LugborG The range markings in gunner sight are accurate only if tank is perfectly level on ground.
