I always find art being a very important part of the game in the first stages, and as i often have no fun at all and suck at making art it becomes a huge barrier which slows down the development or in even worse cases, stops it.
Yeah that sure is a great way to improve your art skills and develop positive, consistent habits ! Talking of which, I should really get back to making a "traditional" drawing every day, it was great ^^ Anyway best of luck with pixel dailies man :) ! Cheers
What in the world is Pixel Art Dailies? I exclusively do pixel art (I lost the pen to my tablet and I feel super bad about it cuz it was a gift :/ (and hell no im not using a mouse, I’ve tried lmao))
@@a_puntato29 I'm sorry to hear that :-/. You can probably get a replacement cheap. Pixel Art Dailies is a twitter handle, check it out! It's @Pixel_Dailies. They announce a new topic every day, and a lot of people tweet them back their art. @Pixel_Dailies will retweet a few which they like, but people also checking out most of the submissions as well. It's really supportive! I'm trying to make it a habit, but I'm still struggling to find time for it.
Dude, you're awesome, I spent over a month to identify with what kind of art I should follow and improve, I love pixel art, but I think very little to expose my creativity, so I make my characters in the pixel art style but they seem to be drafts, and that's what I'm going to do with my first game. Thanks, you're also my inspiration.
Thank you for this video, actually explained the process of creation rather than just listing art styles and tools! Also very motivating. I can't imagine I'll ever be an amazing artist, but I feel more capable of learning how to make something that works for me.
Hey man I just wanted to say that you seriously inspire me, I just started my Game Dev journey four days ago, but I find myself visiting your channel often and soaking up as much content as possible. You've been an enormous help and thanks to this video I finally started drawing again something I loved to do as a child but was never and more importantly thought I was never good at. Once I got into middle school there were so many more talented people than me that I just pretty much quit because I thought you needed to have talented to be artistic. Once I got around to High School I took the required art course in freshman year and regained a little of my love, but still the doubt followed me and I think that's one of the reasons why I held off on Game Development for so long because I knew I would pretty much give everyone a chance to judge and critique my art skills, but now I finally feel like I am ready and I'm gonna do what you say and do a couple of character and environment drafts a day and slowly but surely increase my skill. Keep up what your doing man I love it (especially your planet art design for the planet that slowly dies). Best Regards from Georg, 20, in Germany.
It’s fun to watch this because I’m the contrary, I have years under my belt as an artist, but I just recently got interested in game making. And by recently I mean I haven’t done any, the closest was a video.
I was shocked when I heard that you said "Finding the willpower to rob a bank" so I opened the subtitle and it's just ""Finding the willpower to grab a pen".
I cannot thank you enough for making this video! Game art is the one aspect of game development that I am struggling the most and the video really inspired me. I would love to see more!
There's a great Ira Glass piece that explains the problems beginning artists face (TL;DR): People become artists because they appreciate art, but the gap between what you create when you begin and the art that you appreciate is so enormous that most people give up. Don't give up. Don't criticize. Just keep making art, and you WILL get there.
I am extremely grateful to you from the bottom of my heart for making this video. I was asking for something like that in other comments and I didn't know if you were ignoring it. Anyway, thank you very much.
Hey Daniel :) ! I'm also glad to have finished the udemy course ^^, it was one big project I'm glad I completed so now I can focus on other stuff like CZcams ! Cheers ! PS : Hope you enjoyed the course !
I swear your videos manage to put me at ease. I'm seriously trying to get into developing something, but I keep running into a wall. But now I think I've got an idea on where to start. And I'm also gonna try to come back to this channel to learn more.
I've never been good at art. This video has made me start my completely own game, since I've always been using free assets for my games art, and actually I found that was much better than I though. Thank you for boosting my motivation. Awesome video :D
Ty from russia boy) I like to watch your video. It's inspiering me to not give up. Game development is journey to beatifull worlds of art, music, history and emotions. My favorite game is To The Moon. I wish everyone believe in yourself. You could do everything you set you mind do, man
What an excellent video that can be applied to many aspects of one’s life, not just drawing. Motivational and inspiring, I hope this reaches the audience it deserves. Many thanks indeed!
I think the biggest problem with beginner artists is that they want to make their first characters WAAAY to detailed and realistic. Just use basic shapes and make that look decent, then when you are more experienced you can make more detailed characters. (start small, just like with gamedev)
I am not so sure of my driving skills and want to continue improving. With the timing, that became a very inspirational and helpful video for me. All your art is so impressive, keep up the good work :)
As artist this is a great mindset guide. Like wat was mentioned in the video, You can do something simplistic and it can turn out so amazing. Go your own path and follow your dreams and make them come true. Jus Do Et-!
Thank you, the video gave me again some motivation. I just don't know, what I should do, to improve my game. But in your video you said some nive words ^^
Hey! I really like your videos, and your drawing tutorials made me start to draw. I asked a friend for a Digital tablet to draw and downloaded Krita. Really love start to make some draws!!! thanks for the Help!!!
I'm still using the Wacom tablet that I bought in 2001. They STILL update the drivers. Can't believe how good the company is. The only reason I don't need a new tablet is that the 17yo tablet works great.
you can always improve your skills by just carefully watch your surrounding,it's not like you can immediately get better but you'll get more ideas of how to draw things.
Definitely inspired by this video. Thank you so much for putting it together as well as your other videos. There is some really great advice to be had by those that will take the time to watch them. thanks again and best of luck in all your endeavors!! :D

Noah your art style is exactly what I've always pictured drawing, like literally down to the t that's how I'd draw..(if I could lol) what's YOUR inspiration? What's your background on how exactly you've developed this exact style? Could you please PLEASE do an in depth video focused on that? I'd appreciate it extremely much. I'm fairly new to game development and I've been focused mainly on 3D games but every time I see your videos it inspires me to go into 2D as well, Have you ever focused on 3D at all? Have you made any 3D games? Do you know any examples of game devs that focus on both? Anyway again I'd really appreciate a video on this, You don't really open up like I wish you would, I'd love to know more about you. Love the vids man, keep it up. ❤👌
I always loved your art style but always asked way. Now I get it, it is because it is unique, like Tim Burton's and so many other hard working artists.
I liked your motivational style. That was nice to hear. I always want to make some amazing art but it looks horrible! I am slowly improving though. It sucks when I loose my drawing tablet pen. I'm so bad at keeping up with it.
Hi! I really love your channel and I like game design, but I get in and out of it. I made a simple movement game with a cube, but I would like to have my own art style like it seems you do. I also would like to create all the amazing stuff of game design like boss fights and all that good stuff. But there are somethings that I cant do like I cant draw, my drawings look unpolished especially on photoshop. I want to animate but I don't know how to, and I cant always stick to one idea. One day I want to do a dungeon game and the other day I wanna do a simple 3d game. I know I should start simple which I am gonna do but I either am not inspired with my idea or I just come up with a new one that sounds better. But turns out I just get stuck in this loop. Well keep up the good work and amazing games you make and I enjoy watching your vids!!!!
Hi Blackthornprod! Will you be participating in Ludum Dare 43? I will be joining and it will be my first time participating in a game jam, keep up the great work!
