Givenchy presented its Spring Summer 2024 collection by Matthew Williams in a soothing ephemeral palazzo built for the occasion by architect Gabriel Calatrava. He conceived it as a discussion between fashion and architecture: a structural corset in Lycra that evokes the beauty of Paris. The keyword of the collection is elegance: the models should not walk but float. A ready-to-wear collection with Haute Couture savoir-faire. The first look seems simple. False simplicity. Flowers painted directly onto the fabric. Opera gloves. The iconic Jessica Stam is back on the catwalk.
Backstage, artistic director Matthew Williams decodes the models' almost-ready outfits for us. Stylist for the show, Carine Roitfeld wears the prototypes that were not selected for the catwalk. Chic. Model Nyawurh Chuol talks to Julien Da Costa to set the mood.
The guests are a polaroid of pop culture: Lucy Hale. Sabrina Carpenter. Dove Cameron. The8. Jaimetoutcheztoi. And Cher!
