This was the 90's Stairway to Heaven
THANK YOU
Stephen Perkins is one of the most underrated Drummers ever.
I took a few drum lessons back in my teens and my drum teacher was going to a drum clinic and got me Perkins autograph. Still my most prized possession!!
@@coloredtoad that's so cool 😊🤘🏼
Seeing them play this live was truly something spectacular.
Confirmed! Center stage balcony - mind blown!
Ahhhhh... back when Eric Avery was still their bassist & pre-Lollapalooza. JA @ the height of their powers. This song and Then She Did (MY facorite JA song ever) are just wildly awesome. Wild like the leopards dragging their fresh kills up trees to hide from the hyena-thiefses and lion-thiefses.
Eric Avery is back with Jane's Addiction for 2-3 years they Toured, and tour again this summer (also after sitting out the last tour because of Long Covid Dave is back) . They also work on a new Record.
51 years on this planet. I have seen a hell of a lot of bands live over the last 36 years since I was 15. However, seeing Jane's Addiction live four times between the October of 1990 and the March of 1991 here in the UK, when I was between 17 and 18 years old is way up the towards the top of my best live experiences. They were out of this world and at the peak of their game. This song in particular still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it over 30 years later. This song was a near religious experience live back then. So many happy memories!
Saw them in the UK several times on the Ritual tour. And again in Hamburg last week. Musicianshipwise, they are even better now than they were then.
I stood on the side of the stage at the Hollywood Palladium watching Perkins nail this to perfection......a truly moving performance.
Listening to this and going right into ...Then She Did is just incredible, really need to listen to both songs together.
Welcome to Jane's Addiction, guys. KEEP EXPLORING THEM. You'll dig it.
I've seen them at least 4 times & they've killed it each time. 3 days live is an experience.
Love this song. Not only is this my favorite Jane’s Addiction song, but it’s one of my favorite songs from the 90s. Props to an unsung hero in Jane’s Addiction, the bassist - Eric Avery.
If you like Eric Avery dig out the album he did with his band Polar Bear, Why Something Instead of Nothing?. It's 40 minutes of tasty Eric Avery bass lines.
@@mrsleep0000 Will do! Thank you! 🤘
Just a masterpiece.....
I used to snowboard to this in the 90s...thanks for taking me back!
i vividly remember back in Crested Butte listening to COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN!
@@theologyofthebody2870 SAME! Was in Breckenridge. Here's to good memories!
Fist heard JA in high school driving around with a friend in ‘91. He put in “Ritual…” cassette and this was the first song that played. I was like “what is this!!!?” He let me borrow the tape for a few days. Took it home and probably listened to that album 50 times over the next week. Anything off “Ritual de lo Habitual” is an instant time machine back to high school days.
Janes Addiction are the godfathers of alternative music. It’s like punks took acid type of rock. They combined every genre that came before and out of it was birthed a new sound. Total them alone. They inspired tool heavily not to mention everyone that came after them. One of the greatest live bands all time for me.
Janes Addiction was super influential. They were pretty much responsible for the 90's alt Rock Scene. Tool, Rage Against The Machine, Korn, Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus, Candlebox, System of a Down, and on. Ocean Size would be another cool song from these guys to cover if you haven't already.

I would say that between Jane's & Faith No More, you would about cover almost all of 90's alt rock and nu-metal, in terms of influencing said bands.
If I had a vote I'd say THEN SHE DID is their magnum opus. It's after this song on Ritual DLH.
Still one of my favorite bands ever! This song is Epic ! Nothing Shocking is their Masterpiece imo you should check that Album out! Great reaction as usual! Great !!!
7:32 - I had this album as a teen, loved this song, and then my parents had Simon and Garfunkel on, 'Cecilia', at least at that age I thought the drums on that sounded real similar to the crazy metallic percussion that Steve Perkins is doing in this part. I went back and listened - I still think there's some similarity but it's subtle.
They were amazing. The way they stretched what could be done sonically can't be overstated. I was in HS during Jane's hey day. They were the one band who could unite the metalheads, punks, skaters, surfers et al.
Their viby songs are all awesome.
This song and 'Then She Did' are the really deep ones from Ritual de lo Habitual. Also for something Radiohead-level moody go back and grab 'Summertime Rolls' from Nothing's Shocking.
This song was like a journey. Trippy.
F (Expletive Deleted) K Yeah! That was fun to watch. One of the best songs ever. That's just facts. Backed by science. This was their Magnum Opus for sure. Nothing's Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual and both stellar albums. Been caught stealing is trash IMHO. Or maybe I've heard that one too many times. Thanks you two.
It took them 3 days to make that potato salad. THREE DAYS!!
Perrys other project Porno for Pyros had a big hit with the song Pets. Definite must listen.
Never have I been so happy to see particular reactors find a particular band. You immediately saw how they're the forerunner to tool. And so you know, that version of Ovean Size was a demo track. If you check out the album version you'll hear a similar level of intricacy. Every member is a leader, like Tool. Keep going.
one of my favorite solos ever in this song.
Mine too. This song is an absolute blast to play live.
Top 10 song for me. Epic.
It's so hard to find "new" good music to add to my playlist so thanks for the pick Thomas, you're a good man!
Nice! Perfect selection!,
One of the best songs ever for ,,,doing it lol
Listen to trip away and their best song whores the album was a live album that came in 1987 as a will people listen to us and I listen to this album Jane's Addiction Jane's addiction every day for 40 years biggest Jane's fan ever

czcams.com/video/u-AvacaZ7qU/video.htmlsi=0PNmzQvMRBVg03is Ocean Size 👍
This song made me want to learn both bass and guitar..beautiful
Wow, this takes me back one of my favourite JA songs. 🍻
gotta do Summertime Rolls....
This was before Tool. So....
Saw Jane's in 90, with Primus as the opener. Perry was blessing the crowd with a giant bottle of wine. Good show, unfortunately short set, but oh well.
Don’t underestimate Jane’s
Please react to Beyond Creation-Earthborn Revolution
Anthem
Now do mountain song
Tastewise- JA is in the top
I really don't understand why Jane's legend hasn't stood up. They were groundbreaking and put on a wild show like no other.
This track is really hard to give enough props and kudos to since, as another commenter mentioned, this is so epic. Growing up here in LA in the 80's and 90's, we were fortunate to have bands like Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, Primus, Fishbone, Rage Against The Machine, No Doubt, and too many others to count. I know I have mentioned this is a previous review, but Jane's Addiction is another one of those bands that were super influential in the LA underground scene.
Very cool callout to Tool, since the guys in both bands used to jam together, so you can definitely pick up on how they influenced each other. What makes Jane's Addiction so important and influential is that they cross over to so many different genres and can't really be pinned down to rock, alternative, punk, ska, or any other genre.
This track, also as your wife called out, really shows the amazing musicianship and technical abilities of the band. As a 10-minute song in (3) parts, you really can't listen to this track enough. I promise you; every time you listen to this track from now on, you are going to hear different things, since there are so many textures and layers to this song.
Happy you liked the recommendation. Believe me, we will be doing much more Jane's Addiction soon.
Like I mentioned in the title we didn’t see this one coming from Jane’s Addiction what a ride
Thanks for getting it to them. Can't wait to see what they think of the whole catalogue.
Dam that surprised me. That was pretty good. Thanks to you both for a awesome reaction video.
❤ Jane's Addiction
