@@wolffrdu6463 yeah, but in regards to protogens, if you don't have an OC done strictly by the rules, no one will take you seriously in the fandom. They'll basically treat you as if you stole someone else's character. The only time you can have a proto that doesn't follow the strict guidelines, is if you buy it through an adoptable.
@@kordyuursaalml7032 I mean, the only people that care about that are the hardcore folks in their tiny bubble. I've seen more "illegal" protogens then legal.
@Eric Lane some custom species have design rules (protogens have very strict ones for example) and if a character breaks those rules it is considered an 'illegal' design. but since synths have no design rules, they can't have any legal/illegal designs. For the Protogen community it has become a bit of an issue where people are kinda toxic to other people who have an 'illegal' character. hope that help

synths are often built to complete certain tasks and as such upgrade to complete their task
eg: muscular farmhand, tooled limbs for engineer, avian head for flight kits
and power supply can be different between synths like back mounted charger, internal bioreactor that is fueled by food, or even a thermal enviroment generator if the synth works in extreme heat environments

To be honest I might make myself one of these guys, they're honestly pretty damn cute, and the synthetic nature can always lead to interesting stories.
I mean, I already have a synth as a character, but not one that just looks like a robot. It's usually just like "wow, look at this cute animal"

Right? I don't get why people think Synths are "ugly" and "not cute at all" just because they aren't fluffy. I personally don't have a Synth character/fursona but they look so cool!!
I suggested this a while back when you were doing those Protogens because I feel these sleek boys are being mistreated and not represented well. I'm also going to wait until I hear your thoughts on us aeromorphs despite our cringe.

Man, this reminds me that so many furry fandom species have been introduced to me via Starbound, especially the avali.
Anywho Synths are awesome, though I'm not very active in the furry fandom (more of a closet furry nowadays) I do have an urge to make some synth ocs and maybe incorporate the spiechie into my own little sci-fi universe.
Avalis have lore deeper than Halo, I say go for it, they're cool.

(I am so bloody bored, that even though I am not a furry, I am watching this, still kind of interesting to see peoples views on stuff that I have basicly no clue about, its kind of like watching a friend talk about something he is super passionate about, even though you can't tell wtf he is saying, his energy still amps you up.)
If i made a species The one rule i would include is
"All members of the species are actually sideways from Transformers, no exceptions"

Ive been looking around for ideas and references for a sci-fi inspired fursona (Being a Sci-Fi geek made it mandatory) and this is so perfect. An nice species I've seen are ukats, little glass beings with animal parts
I ended up making a Synth long before I made a Protogen... and my Protogen is just a species swap of my original synth character. I never ended up having an idea on how to picture the character in my head until I turned Artemis into a Proto... but this vid makes me want to go back and make a synth ref of Artemis as well.
Switching from a protogen to a synth. The synth community is so nice and more welcoming. I basically got bullied out of the proto community cause i violated a guideline i didn't know about. Synth people are just like "cool that's different"

Avalis would make for a good episode. One of of my other favorites is the ampwave. I also like Pancans, but they are more of a hybrid than a original species.

When I first heard of this species, I thought of it was themed after Synthesizers like Analog or Modular synths.
Iâve missed these videos!đ if youâre looking to do more, I would love to see your lore deep dive into dutchies you talked about in their video, that video was what first pointed me toward what is now my species!
The heavy restrictions in Protogens is why I personally don't want to make or get a protogen, I will 100% be checking this species out though because oh my gosh are they pretty!! Plus the fursuit concept for them is //heart eyes

Since I am new to the fandom, I been thinking of making a Synth as my Fursona for a while, well I think I would like to try creating one again wish they were more accessible though as a species. I do have a fursona already but with what Iâm using Idk if itâs simpler to do all the time.
i'm not sure what you mean by more accessible,but there is nothing LEGALLY stopping you from just making one if you really want one. granted,you might get shit for it from morons that don't know the law but you'd still have it.
@@JT5555 What I meant by more accessible. Is that, you donât have to mention group or species to who created it so often. Like if you want it to be your original piece of drawing from that species, you have to mention who created that sort of species which I think people would take that the wrong way thinking. It was never your original drawing from that species in the first place, rather you made it out of someone elseâs drawing of that character.

Darn do I love them synths, I'm working on my own OC as well. He is basically supposed to be a Commodore 64 emulator. He even has little ports for one of those Commodore 64 tape drives and floppy drives.

I really enjoy this series -- I'd love to see more. Two specific recommendations, both of which have made a distinct impression on me. One, wemics (take centaur, replace horse with lion... I won't name dA usernames, but a liontaur is *not* a wemic!) -- for which probably the reigning authority is a fellow named Cayzle, Google him. Two, Bernard Doove's Chakats, which leave me awestruck both in how *insanely* well thought-out they are, and for the fact that he came up with the biology in the early 1990s -- *just* *before* the Internet! at least in the US, and he's in Downundahland -- and got almost all of it right on the first shot!
...BTW, does anyone know -- I've spoken with Bernard Doove himself, *he* doesn't know -- apparently the "handpaw" concept was something he more-or-less popularized with chakats, the idea actually *predates* them but he does not know the origin. Anyone out there know who originally came up with it? I'd be interested to find out.

The way they did "2 + 1" configuration on the paws for both hands and feet is a lot better done than on most reptiles...

I know you said that maybe you would look at the Avali species for the next video potentially, but i would just like to suggest a look at the Zorgoia species by CorrieZodori sometime in the future! they are really cute fluffy noodles and with different subspecies and traits. I just think it would be cool if more people knew about them all wrapped up into one video ^w^

Heyo! Dont know if you'll see this, but on the off chance you do, I highly recommend checking out the Vernid species! I'm one and personally think they dont get enough love for how cool they are. Very well made as well and dont have to many restrictions I think :)

I was legitimately excited when I saw the premiere going up in 2 hours but after I read the description and saw the video... Im kinda pissed. Beta didnt seem to put basically any effort into this video he directly quoted most of the video from the synth wiki and spent the rest of the time comparing them with protogens and going off topic with nanites. He also didnt put any citations or sources for any of the art he used which is kinda a dick move tbf those artists have names and its basically stealing their art. I get he did this because he lost a bet but it is beyond low effort and my expectations were already low with the description calling synths the "alternative to protogens" (a species he has made many videos on and has a protogen sona so clearly he is biased towards liking them) and somehow this video came out worse then my low expectations. I did not like this video. Granted it may spike its popularity a bit by mentioning them but it seems to have very little effort put into it and the whole bet story really shows that he does not care for this species at all.
sorry for the rant but this video seemed extremely low effort to me and he may as well have been using that one robotic voice and stock footage for the amount of respect and effort he put into this video. And seriously not even crediting the artists whos artwork you use? Thats just... wow.

Before seeing this I thought that what Beta talked about was all there was besides the lore and that got rid of my motivation to possibly make a Synth but after reading this I'm probably gonna go lurking around for more information on them and maybe join the community.

Not sure how I got here, but this is so funny. It reminds me of a lore/advice video on making a character of a particular race in D&D, except it isn't for a game with rules. It's an open-source concept created by some random person of the furry fandom for non-specific uses, spoken about with just as much confidence as something that actually exists. Cool vid.
