    Nice video! Just 2 questions.
    How many times do you feed them per week? And also, what do you mean by “spray the sides”?

    • @acaciareptiles
      @acaciareptiles  Před měsícem +1

      We usually feed 2-3 times a week, with a little more frequency for babies and Gravid mothers. Spray the sides of the enclosure with water.

    • @acaciareptiles

      Babies , Juvis, and breeding Females daily, otherwise every other day. They prefer 1-2 large prey items, as opposed to a bunch.

    what heat source do you use for a single knob tail gecko?

    • @acaciareptiles
      @acaciareptiles  Před 3 lety +1

      I have all of our set up in a rack system with heat tape. However if keeping in an aquarium, you can use a heat mat on a thermostat or if your house doesn’t get too cold, you can use a heat bulb during the day and let cool at night.

    watched 3 times, didnt hear about how often do you need to feed them. 1-2 larger dubias are a lot for such little gecko... And how do tell if its male or a female? Pores like leopard geckos?

    • @acaciareptiles
      @acaciareptiles  Před rokem +1

      We feed our adults 2-3 larger roaches a week. It’s imperative that they are fully gutloaded though. If you feed them insects that are not, its poor quality and issues will start to surface. 2-3 roaches would equal about 3-4 crickets. The goal is to get a prey item that is just big enough for them to fit in their mouth. Not like the general rule that most use for other geckos. When we started doing this we saw a DRAMATIC increase in growth and breeding success. It what most closely relates their natural predation.

    Can I keep them on biodude arid substrate

    • @acaciareptiles
      @acaciareptiles  Před 3 lety

      I personally do not recommend it. I am familiar with the substrate, and it appears to have peat moss powder worked in to it. Just a high quality washed play sand is the best bet. Easy to sift/clean, and holds humidity,

    Hello I'm looking into getting a rack and Breeding knob tails can anyone let me know go grouping ideas? Can I keep males and females together if I do should I do 1.2 group or 2.6? Can males cohabitate

    • @acaciareptiles
      @acaciareptiles  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I personally had better success keeping my females separate from my males. We would sometimes keep small female groups together, and introduce a male. Knobtails can vary wildly and an aggressive and large female can easily kill a too assertive male. After cooling/dry season, I would put a male in with females for about 72 hours, and then separate for a few weeks, if the females were Gravid, all set, if not, I would switch in a different male for 72 hours. Some keep groups year round, but I have personally experienced and have heard horror stories of animals killing each other and/or males becoming “love crazed” and harassing females which led to overbreeding and they go off food when with females most the time.

    I’m ten is this a good age to get a knob tail gecko? And who long do they live for also how do you have one side hot one side cold

    • @acaciareptiles
      @acaciareptiles  Před 3 lety

      I would only recommend a knob tail if you have experience with other reptiles. If Knob tails interest you, consider something like a leopard gecko to start with first. Knob tails can live anywhere from 8-12 years in captivity. A heat gradient is achieved by using a heat mat at one end of the enclosure with a thermostat hooked up to it.
