- They promise a lot at a low price but are they actually any good? We took a look at budget camcorders from Wechi / Gemantouch, Sereer, Linnse and Kimire and put them to the test.
About time someone did this review. Maybe brands are a bit over priced but you get what you pay for. With a camcorder I always needed one with the eye piece.
I was tempted to buy a camcorder and did pretty much exactly what you did, in that I looked at a good 4k system, far too expense for me to "mess around with", dropped down a bit and looked at mid range and then saw the cheaper end and brilliant prices, but just as you found it wouldn't be money well spent, brilliant review, thanks for making me see the light (albeit pixelated 😀)
I have the Sony hdr-cx405 coming from Amazon amazon! I am so excited, before I was going to buy a cheap camcorder but after this video i decided I needed to spend the extra money to get what I really wanted. Although the this Sony isn't the best camcorder I its all I need. So exited with what I am going to be able to do with it! Thanks for this awesome video. What we all needed!!!
Thanks for this great video Dennis!! It was super informative.
thanks! very enjoyable . can’t wait for another cheap camcorder review
that first camcorder is a nice aesthetic
True!
I was just looking at that cheap camera as well. Was tempted to buy it. Glad I found this video!
Also important to use a U3 type micro sd or standard size U3 sd card for best results.
Thank you for this video! As someone who is looking to buy a video camera as well as being budget minded you gave me the exact information I need in regards to these cheap Amazon cameras. Hard pass. Think I'll go for an older model GoPro even though I don't need the features. I just want a picture that doesn't look like a potato camera and sound that doesn't sound like the inside of a dumpster on a windy day. My older cell phone doesn't cut it unfortunately.
I was about to buy one of these cheap camcorders from Amazon for $100 thank you for your video that tells me that these cameras aren't worth a crap.
Four stars doesn't always meet a high quality product it quite often means quite good for the
Price that you pay and their is a lot of difference between a 1000 dollar camcorder and a 300 dollar camcorder but some people just want a very basic one because they have very little to no knowledge of how to use one and their is a difference between a 300 dollar and sub 100 dollar camcorder
i can concur.. i bought the 2.7k one but my goal was to get a cheap camera .. that may or may not drop out of my boat :)
Well, I'm not 100% sure about your statement that the Kimire shoots 1080p in 15fps. I purchased a Kimire digital camcorder (the one you reviewed) in early 2022 from Amazon. At the time I ordered it, it didn't specify 15fps anywhere in the description, now it shows up right on top. Well, I've used it to record presentations for a group I'm involved with, and the video quality was a lot better than what you showed. The metadata of the recordings (in Windows, right-click on the file name and hit Properties, then go to Details) show that it's 30fps. Not being sure exactly what to believe, I decided to do a test today. I set the camcorder up at 1080p and recorded an on-screen stopwatch that I found on the internet. Then I brought the recording into Shotcut video editor, set the timeline to 30fps, and started counting frame by frame. Each frame of the 30 in one second had a different image (the stopwatch counted to 1/1000 of a second), so I'm quite confident that my version of the Kimire shoots at 30fps in 1080. Perhaps there are multiple manufacturers of the camcorder, or maybe they changed things somewhere along the line and now they shoot 15fps, but I don't believe mine works like that.
However, I do appreciate you going through and testing these. It makes me hyper-aware whenever ordering a camera.
Thanks for the comment. When selecting 1080p, 15fps was the only option available at that resolution with footage that was unusable. Best guess is that a firmware update offered 30fps in later releases.
Hey if you don’t mind me asking what settings do you use for this camera? I’ve been using it recently and notice that it kind of auto switches from a cool look to a warm look while I’m recording and idk how to make it stay one color.
@@chicagomadebj I haven't taken any video with it for a while, mostly I used it for speaking events for a group I'm involved with. And even then, I also had a couple of cell phones set up to take video from another angle. Pretty much I left ISO and white balance on auto and never really paid much attention to the color when I produced the final products for the group (admittedly, some of the videos weren't the best quality, though the audio was usually good though not from this video camera). One thing I have discovered is that you need good lighting, both with this camera and a cell phone.
For my own personal use going forward, I'm shopping for an affordable DSLR (likely going with a used one) and some wide-aperture lenses that I can use in lower light. I also invested in a few small lights picked up on the cheap from Amazon to help light the scene when needed. My version of this camera will work in a pinch, but it's not something I'd go out and buy if someone is shopping for an affordable video camera. I'd go online and look for a used higher quality smartphone that can be had for a decent price and dedicate that to taking video. I did just that when I picked up a used Google Pixel 5 about a year ago. It also serves as a potential backup phone in case my daily driver gets damaged.
I wanted to get a camcorder for the old, retro look but after watching this video I'm feeling a little conflicted. Would you reccomend these cameras or should I buy something more expensive?
Not too knowledgeable on cameras but I did buy one of these to shoot music videos and personalize say it all depends on how authentic you wanna go with what you shoot. If you want it to look old cheap low budget then no sense to spend a lot but it all depends on you
Awesome video man. Keep making content
My recommendation would be to buy a used Sony or Panasonic camcorder. You can get a lot of camera for your money, if all you want is 1080p. You could probably get a 1080p60 camera with a 60x zoom for close to that budget.
How in the world did you manage to get the same scenes, people, etc. on 4 different cameras ???
Was wondering the same, thought they were paid actors at first lol
@@diorawesomeness3938 They probably are ... Lol
@@DeweySmithTattoos2 but it looks like they’re all recording from the exact same spot, not next to each other.
I had to create a very awkward looking rig but it did the trick!
It would be nice to have some links to the cameras in your video description
I'll provide them below.
@@techonabudget7745 thank you
Yeah dude so what you do is you provide a Amazon affiliate link to your CZcams video...
Then whenever someone clicks on your link
In the info and actually buys the camera you get a commission......
Sometimes you are stuck with what the store stocks a few months ago i went to a well known general store for a camcorder they only had 2 models one a top of the range sony that cost over 900 quid the other being a budget model sold under the agfa name for 100 quid best seller is a lot of the time based on what is affordable not always what's best value for money
I only don’t want to record on my phone because I’m almost out of space 😩
I hear ya'!
This was only reason I need a camera cheap js shoot video with Sd card cuz my i phone has no space and I didn’t want the cloud to have all my photos
You just saved me about $100 lol thank you
thank you so much . you give me the answear exactly . God bless
My $70 camcorder dreams are crushed!
Hey thanks for this😱! My girlfriend lent me her old 10 year old Toshiba Camileo x400, which I use to interview people outdoors and indoors for my CZcams channel. It has helped me so much to get started but I'm currently looking to upgrade from it, as I wanted to get better video quality. Which Video Camera / Camcorder with an Audio jack would you recommend that is better for £100 - £150? Thank you 👍🏿
panasonic hdc-sd40
is good value for the money
Excellent Review thanks for your time
OK, my friend ... I have one of the Kimire Camcorders from Amazon and have found it to be reasonable for the price. But (There is always a BUT), I would like to have an external microphone, with a plug small enough to fit into the Camcorder. Nothing at BestBuy even fits? Please let me know where you think I can get one?
I use this one. Definitely a step up from the built-in mic for most budget camcorders and the sound quality is very respectable. Let me know how it goes! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WND4DB4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks. A very good video.
Great review video! Thanks
These cameras a PERFECT for Ghost hunting videos or UFOs or Big Foot sightings or literally any other occasion when you really really need the shittiest Video-& audio quality possible. :)
thanks for the info. sorry you had to spend the money to give the info out.
question: so if the stabilizer is purchased; does it actually tell the smart phone to zoom?
Sorry for the delay! 2 years. Geez. Unfortunately, no.
thank you@@techonabudget7745
The Kodak Zi8 offered better quality. 4K/48MP not possible with these cameras.
Gracias amigo
How do you change fps on kimire?
You have to go under settings and scroll through until you find frame rate. It takes a bit of digging. The user interface is similar on these cameras and not exactly intuitive.
You should put a link
Hello !! i am a senior in Canada !!! i do not own an eye phone or smart phone by Choice !!Which camcorder you recommend for a beginner like ME !!for 70 dollars i ill like to upload vieos on you TUBE Thanks very much !!
It Seems for budget video, you're better off rigging up a phone.
Pretty much.
Theres arabian or whatever they are are actually using the SAME CAMERAS but actually switchin up the brand name.........if u noticed all the 4K cameras are idenically the same!! i purched one today cuz it had 5 star reviews. well the reviews were all fake! guys dont buy these cameras at all!
So frustrating... I just want to find a decent 1080 video camera for my kid. If a name brand made a decent VLOG camera for $150, with quality like a GOPRO but large body and not water proof (to save cost), they would make a killing...
@@aromaticpillow Walmart or best buy....Amazon products are starting to be trash an cheap
what is the third camera?
I believe that was the Linnse.
@@techonabudget7745 I couldnt find it on Amazon can you please provide the link or smt
So... if my math is correct.
Instead of spending the $227 for the reliable Panasonic, you spent an extra $53 to give us poor people some reviews on four $70 ones?
Amounting to $280 instead?😂
Why thank you, the poors appreciate you
I had a $300 budget for a project I was working on after getting laid off. I already owned the PowerShot and Panasonic so I used them as a point of reference. That $300 budget and search for a new, inexpensive 1080p camcorder is what inspired this channel.
i have sony axp55 maybe it be worthy 1500$. but i like cheap Chinese camcorder for retro movie LMAO
hahaha wow these are garbaggeeeeeee
