I’ve been playing since Gold. This is easily the best game of the series and it’s not even close. It’s everything I have ever wanted in a Pokémon game. I love the catching mechanics, battles are actually somewhat difficult at points, the story and setting is cool, I love how you can customize your character, etc. 9/10 game for me. Only drawback is the graphics but I don’t care about graphics anyway. This game freakin rocks. My roommate doesn’t even like Pokémon and we played it for 6 hours straight last night.

Honestly I wish this was the first one I've ever played, however it's the first one that deviated from it's roots. Also if this is your first one, than you'll be up for a change with the other main games. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The soundtrack is brilliant. A lot of areas echo the themes of towns and routes from the original game locations but they’re not direct remixes, but rather their motifs are explored in entirely new arrangements.

I bought physical copies of the first two and I'm so glad I'm playing them.

Hands down my favourite Pokémon game, the controls are so intuitive & smooth and the gameplay loop is exciting & really fun. The Pokémon have so much character & I even grew to love all the characters. Shiny hunting is actually fun & not too much of a grind. I haven’t obsessively played a game on the Switch like this since BOTW! 100% worth it, need more!! 💕
Great video! Just wanted to add a thing about the gameplay which is worth to mention in a pokémon game: SIDE QUESTS ! They are surprisingly enjoyable. They help you know fun things about pokémon, catch them and introduce them to the village people :)
You can sort your Pokémon in the pastures by pressing Y while in the pasture and you can also multi select. I wholeheartedly agree with your review! I never liked Pokémon games before and now this is my all time favourite game. I am absolutely loving it! Keep up the awesome content! 🥰💖

The loading screens are ultimately a trade-off. They are fast because the game loads in the entire map as you enter. Downside, this means you can't fast travel to another area, you have to go back to the village and then go, which can get annoying
I pre-ordered but haven't had time to play yet. I am in graduate school and did all my homework tonight so that I can play tomorrow and the weekend. I am so excited. Even more excited now that I know you love it so much. Great video.
I can totally agree with your opinion! I got the game on Friday and put it away on Sunday with 30h gametime. I'm playing pokemon for years now and in sword/shield I have the same playtime over WEEKS and I only finished the main story. In this game the time flies and I'm not even close to finish anything with the same playtime. In the last game I had the feeling of work on some points because it's not the best pokemon compared to other titels of the series but the new one is THE BEST POKEMON EVER! I didn't care about the graphics too much and it's a very good story :) Everyone how likes pokemon should try it because I want too share this experience and I hope we get a lot of Dlc content in the future!
I only just got to the third area, and I've been playing for over 12 hours. It's so addicting, and I actually feel like completing the Pokedex for the first time in ages. The requests are fun too! Some might find it all repetitive, but I'm not bored of it at all. :)
I think we all wish the graphics were a little better after seeing games like Fenyix Rising looking so good on the Switch, but honestly the Arceus is such a breath of fresh air for the series that I don't really care that it looks like a 5 year old ID Factory game (which are also excellent despite limited graphics). If we take a step back and look at where Pokemon started and how far it's come I think maybe we can appreciate it a little better. Besides, no one has ever played a Pokemon game for the graphics. This is really the best Pokemon game ever made.

I have kept my expectations low due to past disappointments with the hasty-re releases of Pokemon games . However, diving into this new experience I am surprised by the quality of innovation on all spectrums of the franchise. It is an audaciously-necessary leap that Pokemon needed to rekindle the community's flame of addiction . The graphical-sacrifice does not in any way hinder the overall experience of the fluid gameplay and world immersion, it is hard to go back to old formulas of gameplay after experiencing this new approach, the future of Pokemon is promising!
already bought the game, but still listening to your review! I'm really enjoying Pokémon Arceus, absolutly love the game!! The first pokémon game I played was Pokémon GO. Then I picked up Pokémon yellow for the gameboy about 4 or 5 years ago. I later tried sword and shield on the switch but never got into that.
Like a lot of people are saying, I wasn't going to get this, after feeling let down by Pokémon last few years, but I planned to watch your review first to see what's what, and I'm actually curious. Looking for something new, fun and explorative and this could satisfy that itch. Having my fave starter Cyndaquil there helps too haha. Thanks for the great review 😊

I was on the fence but ended up deciding to get it just before heading on my holidays. I always throw my switch in my bag to satisify the gaming itch. Im a few hours in and really enjoying it. I agree 100% with the review, they improved on the Pokémon formula in all aspects. The only ideas i have for optimization are new features, and that says a lot. Okay, the shiny dirt is a bit weird, and the screenshots on the e-shop store page are picked in a very unflattering way; it's like deliberately they picked the worst looking scenes in a game session. To all the people second-guessing just because of the graphics in videos and screenshots, in my opinion the game looks way better in person. The parts i love the most are that the village now actually has a meaning and grows with you, and that zones are a bit more like in monster hunter - big, beautiful and with tons of little secrets to explore. What would make the game perfect would be interaction between Pokémon in the wild, of course they can never script the pokémons in a way that it looks just like in Snap, but some interactions when Pokémon meet in the wild would've been the cherry on top. Also sorting, yeah, it becomes messier than the BOTW menues because there is no sorting. And online duels would've been great too, but i bet that will eventually come now that the game sold as well as it did. p.s.: And the best thumbnail award 2022 goes to Ircha's beautiful face. :3 Ircha's face and a Switch game, what's more to want from an attention grabbing thumbnail.

Very nice review. I loved the editing and your white hair! I also gave it a 10/10 as a gameplay person over graphics, because Pokemon was never about that nor story for that matter.
I have put 20+ hours into this game just in 5 days. I'm only at the second area I mostly do side quests and complete my pokedex. This game despite its flaws is really addicting. I have to force myself to stop playing it, I'm like "dude, you have stuff to do today stop playing pokemon". I'm glad I've decided to give this game a chance, I haven't played a pokemon game in almost 20 years but I think Arceus is worth it both for newcomers and long fans of the franchise

Have been playing since Pokemon Blue and I think it was long overdue for the game to get this kind of revamp and it did not disappoint in my opinion. This review is fantastic! I've seen nearly 2 hours worth of reviews and discussions about this game, but your review mentions and shows gameplay that I wasn't aware of! Not sure if the others considered some of this stuff as "spoilers" or not. Great review, thanks Ircha! Can't wait to sit down and play my copy! Edit: regarding graphics, I agree that they look "okay" and that they intentionally compromised, but honestly, they could have probably improved them. Let's not forget that BotW is now 4 years old and looks stunning on the Switch. To be honest, BotW is really the benchmark for acceptable Switch graphics. The game looks good enough, and I'm not disappointed, but it would be nice to see the best game we can get. Edit 2: I think your rating is appropriate: this really is the best Pokémon game we've gotten, and it's ticked so many boxes. I think the game could be improved, so personally I'd give it 10/11. It's nearly everything that I've wanted Pokémon to become for 10 years, but I just want even more (which I think they could have achieved by delaying the launch by a bit).
Hi Ircha! This is the first time I’m hooked with a Pokémon game and I like it so much I’m planning on finishing it. I’ve played other Pokémon games in the past and I’ve always quit before the first badge because I found them boring! This games is so different from the others and it’s my kind of game, everything I love from a game is here. I think your review is on point as all your reviews are. I’ve learned a few things I didn’t know like only having to do 10 things to register the Pokémon in the Pokédex. I’m only 4 hours in the game so still in the learning phase, but I this game making it to my favorite games of all times list, and I’ve been gaming for a long long time! Thanks for your great review. I was hesitant on buying this game because I had been pretty disappointed by Shield (although I’ve been a fan since I was a kid). I must say your review makes me want to purchase it 😄 ! I trust your opinion and taste more than other reviewer, we seem to be pretty similar. The graphics are disappointing but if you say the side quests and exploration are fun 👌. That’s it I’m buying it lol.

Good review. This is the best Pokemon game I've played since ORAS. I loved how the world was and how I could find Pokemon easily. It's about as much animals one would actually see in any biome in real life, if not more. And I've played in both docked and handheld modes and didn't really notice much of a substantial difference because I was too busy ENJOYING THE BEST POKEMON GAME EVER. I don't understand why people continue to trash this game. This is by far selling more than any other Pokemon games that isn't two games, which is a first for the series.

It's easily the best Pokemon game ever made IMO and much like Breath of the Wild there are a lot of ways they can expand more on this formula but this is a GREAT start to a new direction for Pokemon!
I just don't understand why all the reviewers are saying the graphics look bad. I think it looks great! Sure there are some pop ins and occasionally low textures but what game doesn't have a few minor issues. All my friends bought it day one and it's all their playing and talking about.
I agree, I like the graphics style a lot. Obviously it's not the most high quality graphics ever but I find the style very charming and cute. Idk why people fixate so much on graphics anyway, I care far more about the actual gameplay than what it looks like.

Exactly, just look at Pokemon Red/Blue 🤣 idk when people became so fixated on graphics, we used to play games that looked like total shit because that was the limitations of the hardware, yet we still had a blast playing them. I don't play video games expecting them to look like some sort of gorgeous high resolution 3D animated fkn Pixar movie, I play games to have fun. The art style is cute and I think people care waaaaay too much about the fkn textures and graphics. Good graphics are nice but they don't make or break a game, and people are being way too harsh on this game. It looks a hell of a lot better than the vast majority of pokemon games. Obviously there are other games that look way better but I don't get why that seems to be such a huge factor for these whiny people
I was worried that this game would be too complex for my wife to enjoy, but thankfully she adjusted and loves catching Pokemon Assassin's Creed style! We play together (one person docked and the other handheld) and take turns with who plays on the tv. I still help her with the boss fights, but she's enjoying catching everything and shiny hunting. So happy this game is a great as it is!
I am enjoying this game so far! Definitely will need some patching done for the bugs and glitches and hopefully get some add-ons/DLC, but it is so good for what it is!🥰

Best Pokemon Game hands down. I have played everything from the Original Red and Blue to all current Gen's and spinoffs (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Snap, and the likes) and this iteration gets everything right. I hear people complain about graphics but none if the Pokemon games have ever been graphically heavy. And there is a way to sort thise pastures easier. There is a select multiple option if you press the Y button in the pasture menu. I didnt realize this until post game even knowing there is a mass delete option. Super helpful when sorting through all the Bidoof

100% agree with review. I was really looking forward to this release and im not disappointed so far, I find I loose hours just wandering around trying to catch pokemon and just simply watching them. I would love more pokemon/areas to find though so fingers crossed for DLC's
Graphics are good. I don't understand why people cry so much. BoTW also doesn't have the best looking textures... people just like to b*tch about it... the only thing that can be annoying is the popping, but otherwise artistically looks great.
I am enjoying this game so so much! Personality, returning to Pokémon after many years of absence (since poke Red and Blue days) has been a wonderful rediscovery. I missed this world and its creatures. This is such a great experience, in fact, I picked up recently Pokémon Go on my phone, so I can say that PL Arceus is responsible for making me a huge fan again. This game is everything that I wanted and it looks gorgeous on switch. I truly recommend it.

I already have over 80 hrs into this game. While there were numerous graphical issues that bugged me, they were not enough to ruin my gameplay and the fun I was having. I was having so much fun catching Pokemon, I ended up at Star Level 6 before every beating Kleavor! I also think all these adults reviewing Pokémon games forget the fact that Pokémon games are first, and foremost, for kids. If adults would look at the game from the perspective of a child, it is beyond fantastic.

I just beat this game loved it,but I got to be honest the pokemon graphically look so much better.And I caught all the pokemon just had a few quests I did not complete.But I definitely got my hours in for sure over 105 hours or more as per what my switch says!
Agree fully. Nobody talks about how good it actually runs. It rarely drops frames. The load times are so quick as well. Performance aside, this is the first pokemon game where the grind hasn't worn on me. Every other pokemon I've played besides mystery dungeon I drop off after beating the main story. This game keeps me coming back. A+

In every review I saw people’re complaining about the graphics but when I first played the game I was astonished by them. I didn’t even acknowledged some of the stuff people pointed out cause I was overwhelmed by how big the world is and I would say how beautiful it’s . So far 10h in the game cause I didn’t have time to play but would recommend❤️

I have kept my expectations low due to past disappointments with the hasty-re releases of Pokemon games .
However, diving into this new experience I am surprised by the quality of innovation on all spectrums of the franchise. It is an audaciously-necessary leap that Pokemon needed to rekindle the community's flame of addiction .
The graphical-sacrifice does not in any way hinder the overall experience of the fluid gameplay and world immersion, it is hard to go back to old formulas of gameplay after experiencing this new approach, the future of Pokemon is promising!

I'm really enjoying Pokémon Arceus, absolutly love the game!!
The first pokémon game I played was Pokémon GO. Then I picked up Pokémon yellow for the gameboy about 4 or 5 years ago. I later tried sword and shield on the switch but never got into that.
Like a lot of people are saying, I wasn't going to get this, after feeling let down by Pokémon last few years, but I planned to watch your review first to see what's what, and I'm actually curious. Looking for something new, fun and explorative and this could satisfy that itch. Having my fave starter Cyndaquil there helps too haha. Thanks for the great review 😊

I was on the fence but ended up deciding to get it just before heading on my holidays. I always throw my switch in my bag to satisify the gaming itch. Im a few hours in and really enjoying it. I agree 100% with the review, they improved on the Pokémon formula in all aspects. The only ideas i have for optimization are new features, and that says a lot. Okay, the shiny dirt is a bit weird, and the screenshots on the e-shop store page are picked in a very unflattering way; it's like deliberately they picked the worst looking scenes in a game session. To all the people second-guessing just because of the graphics in videos and screenshots, in my opinion the game looks way better in person. The parts i love the most are that the village now actually has a meaning and grows with you, and that zones are a bit more like in monster hunter - big, beautiful and with tons of little secrets to explore.
What would make the game perfect would be interaction between Pokémon in the wild, of course they can never script the pokémons in a way that it looks just like in Snap, but some interactions when Pokémon meet in the wild would've been the cherry on top. Also sorting, yeah, it becomes messier than the BOTW menues because there is no sorting. And online duels would've been great too, but i bet that will eventually come now that the game sold as well as it did.
p.s.: And the best thumbnail award 2022 goes to Ircha's beautiful face. :3 Ircha's face and a Switch game, what's more to want from an attention grabbing thumbnail.

I have put 20+ hours into this game just in 5 days. I'm only at the second area I mostly do side quests and complete my pokedex. This game despite its flaws is really addicting. I have to force myself to stop playing it, I'm like "dude, you have stuff to do today stop playing pokemon". I'm glad I've decided to give this game a chance, I haven't played a pokemon game in almost 20 years but I think Arceus is worth it both for newcomers and long fans of the franchise

Have been playing since Pokemon Blue and I think it was long overdue for the game to get this kind of revamp and it did not disappoint in my opinion. This review is fantastic! I've seen nearly 2 hours worth of reviews and discussions about this game, but your review mentions and shows gameplay that I wasn't aware of! Not sure if the others considered some of this stuff as "spoilers" or not. Great review, thanks Ircha! Can't wait to sit down and play my copy!
Edit: regarding graphics, I agree that they look "okay" and that they intentionally compromised, but honestly, they could have probably improved them. Let's not forget that BotW is now 4 years old and looks stunning on the Switch. To be honest, BotW is really the benchmark for acceptable Switch graphics. The game looks good enough, and I'm not disappointed, but it would be nice to see the best game we can get.
Edit 2: I think your rating is appropriate: this really is the best Pokémon game we've gotten, and it's ticked so many boxes. I think the game could be improved, so personally I'd give it 10/11. It's nearly everything that I've wanted Pokémon to become for 10 years, but I just want even more (which I think they could have achieved by delaying the launch by a bit).
When watching other reviews, I also noticed that a lot of gameplay elements were left out 😂👍 thank you for watching 😁 👍 BOTW was unique though ❤️
Hi Ircha! This is the first time I’m hooked with a Pokémon game and I like it so much I’m planning on finishing it. I’ve played other Pokémon games in the past and I’ve always quit before the first badge because I found them boring! This games is so different from the others and it’s my kind of game, everything I love from a game is here. I think your review is on point as all your reviews are. I’ve learned a few things I didn’t know like only having to do 10 things to register the Pokémon in the Pokédex. I’m only 4 hours in the game so still in the learning phase, but I this game making it to my favorite games of all times list, and I’ve been gaming for a long long time! Thanks for your great review. Oh your podcast is very fun, you and Tiny Hat are hilarious! Keep up the good work!

I was hesitant on buying this game because I had been pretty disappointed by Shield (although I’ve been a fan since I was a kid). I must say your review makes me want to purchase it 😄 ! I trust your opinion and taste more than other reviewer, we seem to be pretty similar. The graphics are disappointing but if you say the side quests and exploration are fun 👌. That’s it I’m buying it lol.

Good review. This is the best Pokemon game I've played since ORAS. I loved how the world was and how I could find Pokemon easily. It's about as much animals one would actually see in any biome in real life, if not more. And I've played in both docked and handheld modes and didn't really notice much of a substantial difference because I was too busy ENJOYING THE BEST POKEMON GAME EVER. I don't understand why people continue to trash this game. This is by far selling more than any other Pokemon games that isn't two games, which is a first for the series.

It's easily the best Pokemon game ever made IMO and much like Breath of the Wild there are a lot of ways they can expand more on this formula but this is a GREAT start to a new direction for Pokemon!

I just don't understand why all the reviewers are saying the graphics look bad. I think it looks great! Sure there are some pop ins and occasionally low textures but what game doesn't have a few minor issues. All my friends bought it day one and it's all their playing and talking about.

I agree, I like the graphics style a lot. Obviously it's not the most high quality graphics ever but I find the style very charming and cute. Idk why people fixate so much on graphics anyway, I care far more about the actual gameplay than what it looks like.

Bit weird that older, longtime Pokemon fans are complaining about the graphics. It's like they've forgotten they used to play Pokemon games on the Gameboy/DS.
Exactly, just look at Pokemon Red/Blue 🤣 idk when people became so fixated on graphics, we used to play games that looked like total shit because that was the limitations of the hardware, yet we still had a blast playing them. I don't play video games expecting them to look like some sort of gorgeous high resolution 3D animated fkn Pixar movie, I play games to have fun. The art style is cute and I think people care waaaaay too much about the fkn textures and graphics. Good graphics are nice but they don't make or break a game, and people are being way too harsh on this game. It looks a hell of a lot better than the vast majority of pokemon games. Obviously there are other games that look way better but I don't get why that seems to be such a huge factor for these whiny people
I was worried that this game would be too complex for my wife to enjoy, but thankfully she adjusted and loves catching Pokemon Assassin's Creed style! We play together (one person docked and the other handheld) and take turns with who plays on the tv. I still help her with the boss fights, but she's enjoying catching everything and shiny hunting. So happy this game is a great as it is!

This game is a beautiful game. I like the graphics and love the game play. 1st pokemon game for me. I just hated the other games having 2 version. I never could decide. Great review always enjoy your input on games.😊😊

Best Pokemon Game hands down. I have played everything from the Original Red and Blue to all current Gen's and spinoffs (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Snap, and the likes) and this iteration gets everything right. I hear people complain about graphics but none if the Pokemon games have ever been graphically heavy. And there is a way to sort thise pastures easier. There is a select multiple option if you press the Y button in the pasture menu. I didnt realize this until post game even knowing there is a mass delete option. Super helpful when sorting through all the Bidoof

100% agree with review. I was really looking forward to this release and im not disappointed so far, I find I loose hours just wandering around trying to catch pokemon and just simply watching them. I would love more pokemon/areas to find though so fingers crossed for DLC's
Graphics are good. I don't understand why people cry so much. BoTW also doesn't have the best looking textures... people just like to b*tch about it... the only thing that can be annoying is the popping, but otherwise artistically looks great.

I am enjoying this game so so much! Personality, returning to Pokémon after many years of absence (since poke Red and Blue days) has been a wonderful rediscovery. I missed this world and its creatures. This is such a great experience, in fact, I picked up recently Pokémon Go on my phone, so I can say that PL Arceus is responsible for making me a huge fan again. This game is everything that I wanted and it looks gorgeous on switch. I truly recommend it.

I already have over 80 hrs into this game. While there were numerous graphical issues that bugged me, they were not enough to ruin my gameplay and the fun I was having. I was having so much fun catching Pokemon, I ended up at Star Level 6 before every beating Kleavor! I also think all these adults reviewing Pokémon games forget the fact that Pokémon games are first, and foremost, for kids. If adults would look at the game from the perspective of a child, it is beyond fantastic.

I just beat this game loved it,but I got to be honest the pokemon graphically look so much better.And I caught all the pokemon just had a few quests I did not complete.But I definitely got my hours in for sure over 105 hours or more as per what my switch says!

Agree fully. Nobody talks about how good it actually runs. It rarely drops frames. The load times are so quick as well. Performance aside, this is the first pokemon game where the grind hasn't worn on me. Every other pokemon I've played besides mystery dungeon I drop off after beating the main story. This game keeps me coming back. A+

In every review I saw people’re complaining about the graphics but when I first played the game I was astonished by them. I didn’t even acknowledged some of the stuff people pointed out cause I was overwhelmed by how big the world is and I would say how beautiful it’s . So far 10h in the game cause I didn’t have time to play but would recommend❤️

Those bonus items they sent you are so cool! In the USA we could get an Arceus plush from the Pokemon Center store, which I did, but I love the little Pokeball you got! I am loving the game so far :)
