According to Courtney, in an interview, this song is acctually abou thte evils of people using religion to manipulate people. The object of the song is claiming to hold the same status of holiness as the Spirit of God himself by claiming that the Holy Spirit will "stand to the left of me". Jim Jones in particular was inspiration for the lyrics.
