Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

got a score 44/50 on my quiz because of this! Thanks Sal!
i would be mad
i should get at least 50/50
aint nobody care
@@Jaydenswat you commented so u cared
@@Jaydenswat bro replied to a 11 year old comment
@@diegoalejandrosarmientomun303”at least”? that’s the highest score you can get … 44/50 is good lol
"This something" and "that something" helped me so much lolz
Thank you so much!
I have been struggling in school because I couldn't understand what I had to do but after I had watched this video it all made sense!
Thanks for refreshing my mind. I came to class late and had no idea what the teacher was lecturing about. She talks pretty fast. Simple stuff.
Oh my gosh thank you! My algebra 1 teacher talks too fast, and this method is even more easy than she taught me!
Easier
Fernando r u in grade 9? Bc we learn this in gr 9 where I live but I’m confused why some are learning at gr 6 or 7
T u r t l e m a n what do u mean by basics
Oh forget it
What else method is there...
Wow, So you just combine like terms! 😐
LOL!
Now I know why my math teachers have been like “ if you don’t understand, do the Khan academy assignment “ jeez, I was freaking out cuz I’ve got a test today and I forgot how to add polynomials, Sal fixed that in 2 minutes.
omg it really helps me! and oh gosh my heart is pumping hard, the our exam will be like forever!
Thank you so much, Its really help in my assignment!
I was totally overthinking how to do this. Still a life saver over a decade later
I had a student who asked if I could help him. I don't teach math and even though I teach programming, I don't really do polynomials in this way anymore so it's good to know that it's still in there.
Thank you!! This really helped me a lot because I was absent from school the day we learned this.
thanks. I needed to refresh my skills. also do you notice there's so many views but so few comments?
We are all in a hurry
Lol same my Math exam is tomorrow
My teacher made me keep the parentheses and do this super complex version. Thanks for this, you probably saved me for tomorrow’s test.
You can also do this in stacked format by combining like terms in parentheses
Dude these vids help me Soo much my teacher sucks so these are a lifesaver
Thank yiu
Thanks so much! I get it now
thank you so much for this!!
❤️
THANKS THAT HELPED!!
tnx khan academy u helped me so much in my homeworks
Wow this helped me and made me understand so much thank you so much
Thankyou so much it’s is too easy to understand
My gosh thank you so much
Thank you very much
OMG I GET IT NOW THANK YOU SM!
Thanks a lot, idk why school gotta Make it sound so much more complex and add more steps. Just stresses me out especially because my final math exam is tommorow
Thank you so much
I got a 99 on my Math Exam bc of this!! Thanks!
thanks, it really helps my final exam! and it is easy to understand
shut up
I am from the US but I live in the philippines and don't speak bisaya. My teacher likes to start speaking bisaya when she is supposed to teach in English and I can never undestand. Tysm for this
thx khan academy
helped so much😢😢😢
thsnk u i love u
if only my algebra2/trig teacher was good at explaining as you and i go to a private school for gods sake XD
He already is :) u can view his vids at any time
YESSIR
my guy is going down in the history books
I LOVE YOU
I get that but one of my problem will be like (3x^2+5x+2)+(4x^3+2x-2)=ax^2+bx+c. How do I solve that?
(3x^2+5x+2)+(4x^3+2x-2)=ax^2+bx+c
Add like terms:
4x^3+3x^2+5x+2x+2-2
This would equal:
4x^3+3x^2+7x (+2-2 cancels out to zero)
Factor out an x from 4x^3+3x^2+7x:
x(4x^2+3x+7)
Your ax^2+bx+c form final answer would be
x(4x^2+3x+7).
Eleven months later but I hope this helps anyone else who may need it :)
(2/22/24)
Omg Your awesome. But what did you do to the 13x? I'm confused
gigi blue he added the 13x to the difference of the 8x and 7x so the sum is 14.
What is the simplest form of the answer?
I got 14/30, awesome!
COOKING
Why would combine the answer on the 8x - 7x and the 13x?
there's an error its 14x not 15x 1:28
notice how he fixed his error tho
word.
My school and this video had different explanations 😐
can you be my teacher?? forever?? please
Who is in class 1
quarantine life
@italianstallion929 Good Job random person
0:56 I don’t get this very well? 5 out of something plus 2 out of something? Isn’t 5+2 = 6 ??
Who gonna tell them?
How can you even go to this lesson if you can't add right? 😭
8+7=15 Boiiiiiiii😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
you pagal
8 - 7 + 13 dummy and he corrected 15 to 14 btw
I’m confused why the (+) isn’t distributed to the -7x in the second term, so it becomes 7x? If it was a subtraction between these two polynomials, the (-) would be distributed to all the coefficients but a (+) is not?! That doesn’t make sense!
You can think of distributing a (+1) if you like, but (+1) times a number is the number as it stands. It doesn't change the sign. +1(+) = same sign; +1(-) = same sign. Of course, as you correctly noted, if you distribute a (-1) the signs will change. -1(+) = change sign; -1(-) = change sign.
@prettiecake lul its the new lol yeah ;)
@godzilla8345 okay then lul
1:27 did bro swallow 🤨
-7 + 8 + 13 = 15????
8 - 7 + 13 lol
This actually impossible
