In Australia we have had so many well known or sports men suddenly die just this year
What we need to remember here , is that newsreaders and such make up a miniscule percentage of the world population and yet how many newsreaders, entertainers and sport people have we now seen having a raggy .

Go back 10 years and this would have been an absolute rarity
Now it is far more common and batted off as if it is nothing!
They do report it quite a lot and then make it difficult to search for. Try adding the name of any town or city after the words died suddenly.

It was very clear and obvious he was unwell. I made a cup of tea came back and saw him and said to my son he does not look well..as a GP the first signs were there...somebody at ITV news Health and Care departments should have done a lot better..

You would imagine that TV companies that broadcast live would always have a contingency plan in place if this kind of thing happens, but clearly they don't. In theatre, they will always have an understudy who can take over the role of the actor in an emergency, but clearly TV companies don't deem it important enough to have a reserve presenter on stand-by, otherwise they would have pulled him off-air. I can imagine a TV studio full of panicked people running around not having a clue what to do or how to handle this, which is why they kept him on-air.

medics rang in and told them what it was said to get him off air and an ambulance ASAP as his symptoms were obvious to them. Look up "FA S T"
Maybe he was told not to continue by staff via his earpiece but he carried on presenting. We weren't there so who knows?

Really sad to see that, why they didn’t have a stand in on standby is crazy, think the control room would say, wtf ? This isnt right. I’m old enough to have experienced this type of incidents at work and called ambulances / first aiders. People who aren’t 100% always think they can do it, it will be ok and it’s what pros do, they didn’t have his best interests as a priority. Shame on ITV.

It's right to remove the video from the archive because it is someone having a medical emergency and could be detrimental to his well being. It's also important to recognize that Strokes are more common than most people believe and that many people have them but do not know that they did. It could manifest in other ways such as loss of hearing or other faculties. The most important thing is to get help fast before more damage is done.

It was plainly obvious Rageh was unwell i could see it straightaway! his speech was slurred and could not talk properly. I send him best wishes for a speedy recovery🙏

That's awful!!!! A company's people is the company! They should come first! I work customer relations and data entry. I cannot tell you how many people I talk to per shift. I have a medical condition that requires about 10 meds three times daily. I was immediately taken off air time and driven home by colleagues when I had a frightful episode (after stabilizing). My coworkers my supervisors stay on top of me not because they want milk me for all I have but because they worry about me and there's mutual respect and kindness.

I was watching the news and it was clear from the start that he was in destress shame on ITV for not taking him off air because there was another reported there who could have took his place. Rageh Omaar is a great news presenter and he deserver better treatment from ITV we wish him well and hope to see him back on the news soon.

My thoughts as well-my mother had a TIA and reacted similarly.
Thankfully, the urgently summoned emergency responders were able to give her the care she needed.
That was back in 2005.
