It's funny, I just finished a re-watch of ATLA before hopping over here and saw this video. It really is just a fantastic show.
I would argue that its easily the best animated show ever made. It's head and shoulders above any western cartoon including Batman TAS and JL. I would say it's better than any anime I've seen as well.

...the first Nicktoon created was Doug, back in 1991 (before Doug became a Disney show). So all the Nicktoons from the 90s I watched like Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, Ren & Stimpy Show, CatDog, Rocko's Modern Life, Aahh Real Monsters, KaBlam, Angry Beavers, are all a lie? Yeah they had a lot of game shows back then, but Nicktoons were prominent too, so it was more of a mix between live action and cartoons

Lol yeah with a few exceptions (Avatar, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob for most of its run) every iconic Nickelodeon cartoon franchise I can think of was in the 90s.

I felt so ANCIENT when he said that. I remember the day they introduced Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy in 1991. (Ren & Stimpy was REAL crazy for a 5-year-old to watch.)

This is one of the most underrated Smosh Games videos I've ever watch, and I like it.
And the Spongebob prequel show that Kimmy was referring to, was actually Spongbob Squarepants: Kamp Koral, which it's like a prequel to the main show. The Spongebob spinoff show was The Patrick Star Show.

I also used to watch Pinwheel. My favorite characters, or at least the only ones I remember, is Plus and Minus.

Growing up in the 90s, my brain went "wait a second..." when Mac said Nick didn't really become animation until the 2000s. Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Angry Beavers, KaBlam, and Doug were my jam as a kid, but I hadn't thought about them in so long. I learned so much from this episode that I hadn't known about Nick since like 2003.
I had the exact same reaction, and then realized...wait...even though some of the best cartoons were during that era, it really was predominantly live action.

And that was when they were first called Nickelodeon.
