    Thank you Rob, well presented, easy to follow, with sensible practical advice. I only wish all of this information was on-line earlier! Much of this content is not in the Tigerloop instructions or anywhere else that I was able to find when replacing old [30yr old +] Tigerloop . I get a calibration service every 2 years and none of the engineers has ever commented on the service life of a Tigerloop, though I was suspicious as the plastic has been yellow for the last 20 years. Very grateful for this and your other videos. Experience counts.

    Good video, I personally prefer the GOK units for new installations. Although more expensive, the savings in labour is well worth it! Plus combined secondary fuel filter and isolation valve!
    With regards to plastic tigerloops I have hundreds of discoloured and cracked ones! One advises it be replaced, you quote for the works only for it to be declined! Then often as not, a couple of months later especially during winter, the unit fails and if it’s a very cold day the frost shatters the unit and oil is everywhere!
    The joys of dealing with the public! Have a good weekend!

    Great info as always.@ 6:23 You mentioned good quality non return valves. What brands are you using? If the non return valve was beginning to let by i.e not sealing properly what signs would you be initially looking for. Thanks again.

      Hi. I will let you know the make when i order one next as they have no writing on them!. If a non return is failing the boiler will not start first thing in the morning as the oil runs back down the line. Have a good weekend.

    Great video Rob. Just one question and its about priming them. Is it necessary to do this with new ones and if you suspect a tiger loop is causing a breakdown issue is it worth trying to prime it to fix the issue or is it a waste of time?

    • @BartonOilBurnerServices
      @BartonOilBurnerServices Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi . I do tend to vent the oi line and prime a new one as it speeds things up even though they are suppost to self prime! Normally when they fail they just pull air through all the time or block! If all joints and oil lines are air tight and pump is working and there is still no oil at the pump then change the loop! Thanks for the comment! Also remrber 10 years and change anyway.

    They still sell plastic tiger loops so surley they can still be used aswell as the metal ones?

    • @BartonOilBurnerServices
      @BartonOilBurnerServices Před 3 měsíci

      Hi. Thanks for the comment and yes they still do sell plastic ones and loads of them and yes you can still fit them and yes they will prob be fine and i prefer them to as you can see what is going on in the loop!. I was just telling people the regs now. Up to the individual engineer what they want to do. Have a great Easter.!

      @@BartonOilBurnerServices I got pulled up for not fitting a tiger loop. I didnt realise Grant had changed there instructions and more or less insist on one! Thank you for the informative video and I do watch all of them! I'm an oil installer and enjoy an insight into how others work and you are top class!

      @@jameswright789 Thanks for the kind words mate!! Tiger loop caught us out with Grant wall mounted also. Even though they work perfect on a one pipe system we had a pump leak and when we went to claim it they asked if it had a tiger loop and i said no and that was it they rejected it. I moaned as clearly it was working but just leaking and they caved in on me. Now i fit of all to save the hassle! Have a good one!

      Hi mate. If it is screaming it is prob motor bearings. Just pop the pump off and spin the fan that will give it away! if it is quiet when you spin it when cold then it will be pump. If you are unsure message me a video to instagram mate and i will tell you! Have a good one!

    Fantastic insight as always, some wee nuggets of tips in there also👍👍
    I’ve gotta fess up, I was guilty of fitting Tigger Loops internally back in the day.
