❤ thank you so much, I found this today and I am grateful for the information, although too late in one respect, perhaps I will make use of it one day in future

This probably explains what is happening in a loved one. It is so very distressing and challenging.

My son died in March of last year from Schizophrenia. He often would struggle with anosognosia, and was often accused of "faking" his schizophrenia by several of his immediate family members. I was even accused by some family members of Munchausen Syndrome. Thank you for telling your brother's story.

General practitoners fail us, but we rely on them, we need to understand their limits, especially where mental health issues are involved, which manifest physically and evidently at some level

Two years is no way long enough to be a counselor or therapist.

NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness) has free online classes to support you as her family. They are really helping me as the Mother of a 38 year old son with anosognosia. It is so painful for all of us who love them and try and help them as they suffer from all the messed up thinking that create self-sabotage. We aren't professional and can't be expected to try and fix this. BIG SIGH of compassion for you!

@@KSmartBradenI’m alone, 68, disabled, and sick with Lyme, and my 37 year old son has severe chronic persistent Lyme disease. He just got out of jail for domestic violence and came to my house, to go immediately to a rehab, but won’t go to any of the places that will take him. He has been berating me, telling others I’m crazy, stealing from me (meds and money) and crawled in my window that I had locked. The police have been here every day and no one will help me get to the courthouse to get an eviction notice.
The police took him away to a hotel, but he went got he hospital and ubered back, crawled in my window, that I had locked, so he planned this, saying he wanted to sleep. He kept me up for 6 more hours, and I can’t go get an eviction notice, because he lost my only car key. I’m ready to leave my own house or lace this world. I’m trying to see a therapist and psychiatrist, but I have too much to do and I’m so sick with something.
He kicked in my bedroom door and his girlfriend won’t respond. He blames me, of course.
It’s a nightmare and I’m going to die.

What about patients who feel that they have special powers or losing the voices puts them in harms way? They not only think they are NOT ill but that it’s a blessing!? I’m terrified for my loved one.

My wife is convinced she talks with god more than anyone in history except Jesus, she feels that this is a “ great honor”. I believe that is one reason she will not seek help, it would be rejecting this “great honor”.
