    My heart goes out for you Ade. Can I suggest that when you flush that dosed water out of the entire system and refill you then put in a high dose of salt and let that turn over for a few days before emptying and doing again, then rinse through the entire system with water fed via an RO system. Fill again with the same method and work the system up for a couple of months. Having a couple of gold fish in there will help that process but make sure they are sound first.
    Noted the expanding foam in the joints around your roof. It might not be bad idea to tape or cover it some other way to prevent bits flaking and falling in the pond.
    All the best to you mate and keep your chin up. You’ll get there.
    My advise is just my advise but there are a lot of more knowledgeable people out there much better qualified. Seek them out.

    I feel you on what your going through. We went through it our selfs this winter. We took down our two ponds and filter systems as well 😢 . In the end result is 90 % of our koi got sick .now it's time to start over . When we lost started losing our coiteux bacteria and a parasite with the ulcers we wind up getting so hurt over it we took down our original CZcams page I was about to walk away from everything and if it wasn't for my wife and my son Liam I would have and I'm still new to this hobby only 4 years and I'm still learning

    As hard as the decision was to come to Ade, I think you've made the right one. As others have said, treat it as a brand new pond now and rebuild your stock slowly, maybe put a couple of suicide fish in until you have the ones from Phil. We're only local so if you ever need a hand and that, just give us a shout 👍🏼

    Really sorry to hear about your problems we’ve had a similar issue. I’d make sure you only get your koi from one source make sure the dealer heat ramps them properly . I wish I could go back in time and give myself this advice but hindsight is a wonderful thing. We are very close too the oaks koi at Kirkham they will give you amazing advice!! Personally I’d empty the whole thing letting it dry out will kill all the bacteria 🦠 in its tracks. Brush the bottom of the pond regularly. Get a salt meter salt and salt it with C T / we are 8000 gallons drum sieve and shower . Fibreglass three bottom drains and still have problems. I wish you all the best with your future koi keeping.

    Ade, when you have it sorted in terms of sterilized, you must avoid the chemicals as much as possible, or your bio will never build, and the pond will never cycle, while avoiding chemicals, if you have a fish with issues, try and treat individually with salt, or pp dip or topical, and keep an eye on it for further treatments, but avoid treating whole pond, best wishes, Tony😀

  • @FARMOORKOI
    @FARMOORKOI Před rokem +2

    Ade, I really feel for you, I can remember going through this with my first pond over 30 years ago, in my view you have really got a new pond, I know you used mature media, but still a new pond, with no good bacterial coat to the sides and bottom, and sorry to say on completion you intruduced all your existing fish too quickly, and you also added some new ones, your plan to just have 8 fish is a good one, try not to keep hitting the pond with chemicals, it will just set back your bio in the filters, keep a close check on your water parameters, and in addition to your normal water changes, be prepared for large water changes on any spikes, main checks, amonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, KH, only use a chemical for a specific problem, it can take 12 months to get the pond in good ballance, you got a lovely pond there, and it will come good, but you will have to be patient, I wish you all the luck in the world mate, best wishes, Tony😀

      @@adethekoikeeper6505 That is exactly what I would have said also. It happened to me 6 years ago. New pond syndrome is no joke. Large water changes are a must but make sure it's dechlorinated properly or have plenty of sodium thiosulphate at hand. You need to feed enough to make a ammonia spike which will then feed your bio but no over do it. Watch your KH too for PH crashes. Good luck, I hope you can make all yours and Phil's efforts building the pond worth it.

    Hi Ade, sorry for keep commenting, but what you have done in prep to start again is fine, but you must treat your pond as if it is brand new now, because you will have killed everything, all the bio you did have is gone, so treat it as a new pond and start it up slow to avoid new pond syndrome which will look like what you have already been through if you are not careful, so add your 8 fish, and build the feed up slowly, do not be tempted to over feed, be prepared to reduce feeding on from time to time, do regular water checks, larger ones on spikes, and avoid chemicals which will knock back your bio as it is building, get the pond cycling, in the mean time get yourself a little quarantine built, you can use as hospital tank, and in a years time if you buy a new fish, take that slowly as well, and quarantine for 6 weeks before putting it in your main pond, I really do feel for you, its a great hobby when thing go well, or if you do have a problem that you can solve, its all part of it, very very best wishes, Tony😀

    Fella sorry to hear that. I’m in same place, all winter, I have been fighting this and when I thought I was over it. Bang one koi died then two weeks one more and just yesterday I lost one more. I’m thinking of doing what you done. I just can’t put the koi and it’s lot of money as well. I guess it’s for the greater good. Good luck I think your right in what you are doing

    Hi mate, I’ve been in your shoes….. when I sterilized my pond I used pure chlorine that you add to swimming pools. It was said that pp knock it back but not completely clean and sterilize it. Then water changes until it’s no longer detectable. Then added a few goldfish as suicide fish and to get the filters up and running. Then I stuck to one dealer and only the one dealer. No issues since. It’s a horrible time but you will be better off for it. Any advice just ask away I’ll try and share knowledge.

    Hi had bad problems with my pond few years ago, my advice, keep things simple and get air source heat pump best thing I ever bought, not cheap but as far as I'm concerned last 2 winters kept at 13 degrees fish done well so in my eyes heat pump payed for it's self considering the price of fish, good look.

    I'm sorry for your pain. I've been through it myself. I tuck everything to the tip and was through with koi . I thought everything as I didn't think with any honesty I could sale it . Then you start to think it's not the fish's fault. And for one thing leading to another I got back not on the same scale as I don't have the money to do that eny more then last year some nice person decided to pinch it all apart from a few fish so now it's small fish and go again and I'm enjoying it even with small fish's hope you get it sorted and the hobby is for you to enjoy do what you've got to do thanks

    Ade sorry to see the shit time your having regarding your fish keeping wondering if there is anything externally dripping into your pond eg from plants or roof gutters just a thought, but don't give up you have a cracking pond and set up and you will get there enjoying watching and keeping koi. I'm in the process of building my pond bigger and better after losing my fish my fault lack of knowledge then, can see you've spent a shed full of money and you will get there soon good luck and all the best.

    Really sorry for the troubles and upset you’ve had. Many a koi keeper has found themselves in that crappy situation so don’t lose faith buddy (as much as it’s crap) The pine coning is likely an after symptom so likely some bacterial issue. The temps have been horrible this year - up, down, up, down. Then add in the parasites and you’ve got a perfect playground for opportunistic bacteria. I’ve lost a couple this year already to. I’ll have my fingers crossed for you buddy. Best Wishes.

    Hi mate. Sorry to hear what's been happening. You can tell it's really upset you. From what I've heard and seen of late. The fish become carries and can seem to be all good, and then something which causes a stress issue starts it up again.

    Fair play posting up Ade, for me mate lots of Air, Salt & Heat are all key together. When you have a new pond or a problem. I am believer of suicide fish to see how they get on before putting your prize koi in has I have already said. Good luck going forward see you soon.👊

    After the PP mate just keep dumping bottled bacteria in some gel balls. Weekly doses for a bit then monthly doses there after. Try to get the good bacteria to out compete the bad.

  • @boxtriker
    @boxtriker Před rokem +3

    Mate hard thing to do but you are right to stop and Nuke the system when a wall like this hit's there and the problem keeps killing fish and you cant [ treat/kill ] what ever it is its time. I have been lucky over the years and had to treat my ponds very little this i put down to I stuck to one dealer and only the one dealer only for 14 years then took a risk 5 years back and had 3 from a 2nd dealer the rest have all been born hear in the pond. I watch people dropping new fish in month after month on hear and if you get away with it thats fine but its luck and new fish bring new problems in total i have only put a new fish in twice in my near 18 years at this hobby and had to treat my pond less than a handfull of times in them near 19 years of Koi keeping so are new fish a problem i would say so. So get your new stock get them small about 6 inch make it about 20 of them and dont add anymore for years is my tip

    Hi there, sorry to hear about your issue I suffered a bacteria outbreak a few weeks ago and tried pp several time with no real success when having severe outbreaks pp is not strong enough to kill bacterial and keep it away it is an oxidiser after all it will kill but to accetain extent at least that what I understood from when I learnt from an experienced hobbyist. I must have used pp three times thinking that’s what was best but speaking to a experienced hobbits he explained pp and how it won’t do the job in severe outbreaks. If you have a bacterial issue pp may work and this is what I experienced I was experiencing, it would not kill but hold it back for two weeks until the symptoms came back . I was advised but this experienced hobbyist to do a ct ( chlorinine t ) treatment and after a few days all improved and has done till this day now touch wood , ct is much stronger i and other people use ct at a strong dose of 20grams per 1000 gallon for 5 days for bacterial issue this is above recommended dose so use at your own discretion but it works but harsh. I would also advice you check your water for heavy metals which I have had in the past and cause issue as they weaken the immune system and irritate them get in contact with Gary smith at Gatwick koi who is ver knowledgeable about this topic and will advice further
