      Robert Baker you never did say nothing about my idea I have, if you like it you can use it. Check this out people pay 5 dollars to enter a contest to play their own song and with the money that's collected for it the winner receives most of the money people vote online for what they thought was the best song but it has to be their own original song. People play stuff in you tube all the time and all it gets them are likes. This would put money in their bank account. And it wouldn't also be a way for them to express originality. Their would be a second and third place also and a percentage going to the pgerson who put it together and made it possible. Like possibly you for instance. The only thing I ask is that it has to be their own original riff. Please comment if you like. This could really be something for people instead of the same old. I got 15 likes in you tube for playing a Metallica song today? How about a cool 500 or a thousand dollars for playing a minute and a half of your own song.

    • @RobertBakerGuitar
      @RobertBakerGuitar  Před 6 lety

      Hi Patrick I think that's a fantastic idea. The biggest part would be the time it would take to put something like that together. Perhaps In the future we can do something like that its a great idea.

    My sister loved Rick Springfield so much I went to see him with her in 1983. I have to say he killed it and I’ve seen a lot of concerts in my life. To this day every year for her birthday, I call her and when says “Hello?” I play Jessie’s Girl. It’s tradition now, everyone knows about it and I mean everyone. It’s hysterical!

    I just saw Rick Springfield play this past Sunday, and I have to say... this dude is looking good for 69 years old. He played up a storm too, I wouldn't say he's a one hit wonder because he has more than a few popular songs and other big successes.

      One hit wonder has a technical definition that I believe is directly related to chart placement? I could be wrong but that could explain that.

    • @eightguitars
      @eightguitars Před 6 lety

      Wikipedia defines "one hit wonder" as: "A one-hit wonder is any entity that achieves mainstream popularity and success for a very short period of time, often for only one piece of work, and becomes known among the general public solely for that momentary success. The term is most commonly used in regard to music performers with only one top-40 hit single that overshadows their other work." (source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-hit_wonder). Still not valid?

    I wanna start recording guitar videos but my cell phone has good camera and bad audio. What would you advise me that is cheap?

    • @alexferguson5346
      @alexferguson5346 Před 6 lety +1

      It depends on how good your amp is. If you want a fairly cheap option since audio interfaces can be quite expensive, you can buy the cable for the game rocksmith (around $30) and use an amp sim. There are some good free ones and if you're really desperate you can pirate paid ones. You need to download the ASIO4all drivers though or you'll have crazy latency.

From the days of Tom Cochrane with Red Rider to his name up front he's had hit after hit with more staying power than ...dare I say ....Nickelback (sic). Come on up to Canada Robert we'll fill ya with back bacon and brewskies till you fall on your face. Thank god you didn't say the Tragically Hip were one hit wonders otherwise Canada might have to once again burn down the White House.

    Tom Cochrane and red rider are sooo far from one hit wonders. They're a staple of Canadian rock. Come on man! The untouchable one, boy inside the man, big league, victory day, sinking like a sunset, lunatic fringe!

    Pretty lazy rendition of No Rain. Love the guitar. Wipeout sounded rad. Love The Darkness. You can call Tom Cochrane a one hit wonder but it means you're missing out on Red Rider. Neruda is amazing.

    I may be being a tad ignorant here, so corrrect me if I'm wrong but... Surely Ram Jam would've been a much better choice over either The Darkness or Europe?! This may just be because I'm British though 😂🙈

    You need to lower your pickups, there's a lot of noise coming from the strings hitting the pole pieces.

    Do you even know what a one hit wonder is? Almost every artist you've shown has had at least two or more hits in their career, not to mention you got 'Wipe Out' wrong. Yes, The Ventures had a version of the song, but they're not the ones who came out with it, let alone had a smash hit with it. That was The Surfaris. And Rick Springfield had 5 top 10 hits throughout the 80s. Sure, 'Jessie's Girl' gets played the most, but I hear most of his other stuff that were hits too, like 'I've Done Everything For You' and 'Don't Talk To Strangers' as well on the radio.

    I wouldn’t consider Blind Melon a one hit wonder, as they had a very short career, the band pretty much ending after Shannon Hoon died.
