Hey Paul, thanks for great instuctional videos. If you dont mind, What type of brush do you use for cleaning? Feeling like q-tips arent appropriate in all cases
hey Paul how r you man hope doing good,i realy like your video the way you execute your repairing is awsome.being a electronics engineer myself i call you sir if you except that.and my english is very bad so please ignore ,and appreciate your effort making video like.thank you n god bless you..
Well done :-D. Pity someone don't make a double pcb holder with rollers in channels, slide up or down and the doner would be in just the right place under the microscope. Just me having stupid thoughts lol.
Hi, I would like to ask you for an opinion. my A1466 does not turn on and the magsafe light only blinks green. not orange just green. what kind of failure could it be? thank you 😃
Hi Paul, can you tell me if the big part under your tweezers 9:02 is also a cap ? And if so, it should not be shorted right (mine is) ? I've got a macbook air, light on magsafe charger goes on, but then fades out after a few seconds. There is a big blob of hot glue on the caps you're removing at 8:20. How to remove the blob without making a mess ? I was thinking just pry it off ? Thank you verry much.
When you find under surface corrosion, like here, & you replace certain SMD components, do you repaint or recoat the exposed area? Where do you get donor boards, &, do you know whats wrong with them? Like too many problems? Thank you also, do you have a video where a defective USB port could cause a macbook not to power on?
Hi Paul, I have the same exact unit. However mine does get a green than orange light. After the battery is full the light goes back to green. I pulled the board and I cant see any water damage. It was my laptop and it worked till one day when nothing. I checked all the areas you did and I seem to get about the same measurements. Even the button gets me 3.4v. The one thing I notices is that my unit does not get a fan spin. any thoughts? I really appreciate it.
Hey, I am not sure where you live but I have a Mac book pro 2013 retina with similar issue to what you talked about in this video. It looks like internal power supply isnt doin its job anymore. Do you sell internal powersupply to one of those? also how much do you think it should cost me to fix it?
Is there any way to reduce the motion blurr when scanning the board with your microscope? I don't know what adjustments the camera has, but increasing the ISO/ increasing shutter speed (reducing exposure time?), or just brighter light? Aperture is likely fixed.... Image quality is great when everything is stationary, but we can't see anything when you are moving around.
Indeed. Might be worth me looking at using different colours on the display to represent different ranges, but I'm sure I'd still find ways to read it wrong. Best might genuinely be to replace the decimal point with R, K, M, so 8.09kR becomes 8K09.
7:25 - I've seen some techs use flux to remove components and some don't, as you didn't here. Can you give insight as to when you might choose to use flux to remove a component over not?
Really more a case of laziness vs impact. For 2-pin small parts it's not a major drama but for larger parts with more pins it helps the process of the removal
Please solve this doubt any kind man I have a MacBook air. I put the power cord in and there is no green or orange light and it shows that the battery is not charging. Then I connect it again and after sometime, it works properly. Please help.
I’ve just had a run in with a Apple Genius Bar repair on a 2016 MacBookPro Touch Bar. It went in for a damaged screen $1200 to replace then a week later I get an email to call Apple. Next I’m told the speakers don’t work and it’s going to be another $300 to repair. But the speakers were fine when the computer went in. The push has been to scrap this 4 year old computer and buy a new one. And in all this I understand the Apple style of repair. In the end they just want to sell a new shiny laptop. In the end Apple wins.
hello i have a a1466 stuck on apple logo, it wont go to recovery mode.. i even tried this ssd on another mac and it booted up fine .so im assuming its a ram or board issue ? i tried a diff efi chip and same issue.
Everyone has their own preferences, all you can really do is buy a bunch of them and see which ones you like to use. Mine are 140mm long fine tweezers, CS-11 or ST-11 type I believe.
Hey Paul. Please share your email address. I am struggling to get my MacBook Air 2014 repaired since long time. I would like to get your opinion on the same. Thanks.
Well done Sir Paul! There's no mistakes when you find the mistakes! Cheers!
Great video Paul Daniels, Thank you so much for your contribution to the people like me, that wants to learn.
getting those caps to line up properly was like herding cats ;)
That's a superbly apt analogy.
Nice repair and great video to watch!
Keep the good job Paul, you rock man!
the subscriber count is really an injustice to u. you deserve more.
Thanks, in my case it was the D7012 zener diode not shunting the voltage at all. Upon replacing it was good to go.

I just have a fine bristle toothbrush, qtips/earbuds, and a 1/2" and 1" painting brush.
@@pldaniels awesome thanks!
Mate Great job what i do is do 2 caps then UV glue them takes 5 secs then put down the other 2 then re UV over the lot ;)

Need it to keep going for another couple of hundred units at least.
Well done :-D.

If you live in Australia, you can submit a job to ctpc.biz/job but outside of Australia I can only suggest you search for a local macbook repair agent

I need to capture at 60fps, that's about another $500.
If only you would have noticed the K when you were testing at beginning 🙃

@@pldaniels yes would be totally intuitive then 🖒

What do you charge for a repair like this? $$
Where do you get the schematic and software at 8:30?
Software is FlexBV ( pldaniels.com/flexbv ), schematics and boardviews are from "the internet", typically Badcaps.net forums.
greaat sir
Can I fix mine? Have hammer, scrub brush, and elastic bands
Best call McGuyver :D
Sir Louis and you repair only corrosion motherboards.
I repair logical fault boards too; it's just that most boards that arrive here are corrosion damaged.
what type of tweezers do you use please I need some for my new rework station

PRO TIP! If you turn you TV upside down, this plays in 4k in USA. PROMISE! ;-)
Thanks for the tip! Maybe I should have an "Upside-downers" rendering too ;)
