- We demo the JHS Pedals Cheese Ball, Boss EQ-200, JAM Pedals Ripply Fall and Diamond Pedals Memory Lane Jr guitar effects pedals.
Welcome to Pedal Jams, where we feature four guitar effects pedals that are new (to us anyway).
Our agenda is purely to plug them in, see what cool sounds and features we find, and combine them in whatever way inspires… and have a little jam to put them in context.
If you like this backing track you can buy it here: www.thatpedalshowstore.com/co...
On the subject of which, please pick what you can out of this week’s jam. It's a bit pants - we need to find a better way of doing this... like actually learning the chords to the track before we hit record would be a good place to start. Apologies. We indeed could and should do MUCH better, as we’re sure the comments will reflect. Live and learn, and all that.
Secondly, yes it’s a real 1961 Fender Stratocaster - a refin, and on a longish term loan to me. Mick here. I’m a lucky boy. Trying not to get too excited about it because it’s not mine… but it is spectacular and I’m already in love with it. Gah! More on that over coming weeks.
Enjoy the episode!

I just wanted to say, I miss VCQs.
Nothing takes the sting out of going to work on a crappy Monday morning like a little Dan & Mick. I know they were a lot of work to film and edit, so I understand why you guys don't do them, but I miss them.
I miss VCQ, too :/
Especially the verbal #facepalming from Mick at some of the numpty comments 😂
Yep :'(
I miss it too!
Me too! They were great for interaction and a "community-feel". I really miss them.
This show was essentially a “history of Jeff Beck’s tone”. Fantastic!
You guys are right the guys at Diamond have great ears. There's a few compressors and firebursts I assembled floating around Japan and Germany from my brief work placement with them in '05. I was lucky enough to see the memory lane in prototype stage. I always love seeing people enjoy their pedals.
After much research and seeing all the high praise, I picked up the Diamond Memory Lane Jr for my very first delay pedal. And I must say, I absolutely love it. There was a small learning curve, but I have found that the MLJr offers gorgeous "analog-ish" delay tones that are SO EASY to dial in. Delay has quickly become one of my favorite effects and so has this pedal. I'd recommend it to anyone. Delay veteran or delay noob, like myself Great episode guys, thanks for featuring it!
Very, very cool custom artwork! Well done, guys. So many pedals have perfunctory graphics, the ones who actually put some creative energy into the visual aesthetics really stand out.
I'm happy to finally see the diamond memory lane jr on TPS. I've had this pedal for over 5 years now and never once thought about selling it. I'm surprised that it is not more widely used/talked about. They also currently sell for a very reasonable price on the used market.
OMG The Tonehedge skit was hilarious!!! and his Farther before him!!!
Reminds me of Monty Python. Love it!
And HIS father before HIM!
That skit was fuckin hilarious! There has to be outtakes from that. I can't imagine you guys got through that in one take without cracking up! xD
Now that's a new TPS T-Shirt - "The Legend of Tonehedge" with a 1961 burst strat sticking out of a hedge in the background! So much new gear, guys. Very nice. Oh yeah - and there were pedals.....lol
It’s “mega”!
“Because Hendrix”... now THAT is a T-shirt I can stand behind
Sold my Diamond ML Jnr a few years back.. Knew it was a mistake, thanks for reminding me about it again. :-)
really enjoy you guys jamming to the tracks along with the usual sort of pedal chat and analysis. 👍🤙🤘
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now, it's just an old strat, it's just an old strat, and what's that he's got for you? 🎤(sorry, just watched a Plant interview ;) 🎸
Glad you finally got the Ripply Fall on the show! It’s gotta be my favorite dual modulation pedal on the market. There are no bad settings IMO. Just awesome sounds
The sounds blow me away! I have to find one!
So so good! You guys rock the demos!! That Diamond delay is awesome, I want one! 😄
I'm on the way home from work watching this on the train after an all round crummy day. I had to pause after Tonehenge to say thank you for putting a genuine smile on my face today. Kudos gentlemen. Kudos.
The last ten seconds of Micks tone at the end sounded amazing. Kudos on the jam tracks. They need to be in every episode
Love you guys!!! Keep up the great work!!!!! I also just needed to add that i love that little jam Dan had at 27:00. SO COOL!!!
Please, no need for apologies (description). Lovely playing here. Real music. Thank you very much for the non-friday treat!
😂😂😂 this video will be passed down in my family for generations and generations to continue the legend of tine hedge.
TPS: "Probably don't need to talk all day about an EQ pedal..."
also TPS: "You guys can't possibly do a whole show on tuners, well we just did."
Happy days
Hahaha!!! Yes, should be an entire separate show!
@@ThatPedalShow that's what I like to hear! haha keep up the good work! You're always killing it!
That Pedal Show the wampler EQuator is fantastic. You could talk all day about it (well, at least 15 minutes). I’m very grateful for that pedal.
Jurgen Houwers sounds cool! I’d be interested in the difference between parametric EQ and Graphic EQ
RadPastorChad It’s really nice. I use it for acoustic instruments btw. the bass and treble is just graphic: a fixed frequency you can cut or boost. The bass and treble frequencies are perfectly useable. The two parametric mids are very nice. One has a small q: I can search for the exact frequency that gives problems. The other has a wider q. I use that one to boost a nice sounding area a little.
Its great seeing you guys having fun :)
Tone Hedge is an all time classic
Epic way to end this episode! That last jam with the Gibby put it over the top
In great form today, mates! Loved the intro too.
I'm already looking forward to Mick's vlog after he buys the '61 strat, falls in love, then wonders if maybe a '59 would be better suited. Haha.
Stunning guitar though!
Ha! Like I’m a person who has those options. :0)
Love this guys so much! Dan was brilliant on that sketch!
Great show, as usual. Crikey, the Ripply Falls sounds epic. Phasers are something I like... but only certain ones. This thing has it in spades.
You guys have proved in this video why instrumental music is so cool to listen to.
Another Great Episode With Great Tones and Playing!
thank you.it seems like tps has returned to the heart of things (not that stepping out is bad)loved it.a stonking bunch of pedals too
Love the track jam! Slick playing Dan and Mick!!!
I've been wanting that diamond memory lane junior for a long time now.... Thing is incredible
Alex Murphy that delay pedal has kicked all other delays of my board. Sounds AMAZING, and is surprisingly versatile and easy to adjust with your foot. Keep the delay times to the point where you can go from a slap back for rhythm sounds or ambience, to a longer delay for solos and clean passages, all by holding down the tap button. The subdivision switch is super easy to click with your toe, so you’ll be going between them easily. No need for presets, it’s all already there in 0,5 seconds. Best pedal I have bought to date!
Great episode guys!! Man, sounds like that JHS Cheeseball has Billy Gibbons written all over it...Similar to his tones on “Gotta Get Paid” or maybe the Rhythmeen album. And dude, that Strat....love it!! ✌🏻🎸🎼
What an awesome grouping of pedals!
That Jam Ripply Fall is a pretty funky pedal. I like the chops you guys get from the pedal.
Nice to see a Diamond pedal on the show, made here in Nova Scotia.
Great show guys love it!
After couple of shows with guests, although great shows, I missed hearing you guys play! Congratulations on you new guitar Mick!
This is fantastic. Oh wow.
"We have done a show on EL84 amplifiers..." (my Sweetwater card starts vibrating)
My wallet starts crying...
My wife starts swearing
My other amps start to vibrate in fear! I try and mollify them by saying that they won't be ignored if a new baby comes along but it's no good, the El34s and 6l6s are sensitive things.
You guys are the best, keep up the great content!
Cheers chaps, interesting and diverse selection of pedals today, nice. Ripply Fall sounded ace, possibly hard to turn off, luckily I can't afford it right now, yay!...... err ...... oh ...... damn.
Tonehedge, a legend is born. :)
Mick..... your playing was Just fantastic. I especially loved the your phaser demo. Made me want to play, and isn’t that what this is all about. Thanks to both of you. Aloha
Oh wow. Thank you! There was some extra inspiration this week. :0)
Oh man, what a show today, gents! This has it all, great comedy, amazing pedals, killer playing, vintage guitars and a load of fun and big smiles! Wonderful! I’m going to my local shop this weekend to play around with that Big Cheese! Great start to my Tuesday, thanks👍🏻😊
Thanks Wes! Have fun geezer!
That Tonehedge bit was perfect 👌 If you ever find yourselves at a loose end some more of those skits would be much appreciated!
JHS should do a dual pedal of fuzz plus whatever called Chalk & Cheese
the new D&M drive thing.. The CNC Machine.. ok i'll stop now.
Now that is GREAT idea.... Hmmm
@@ThatPedalShow Should it not be Night & CHalk, or Day & Cheese...?
I’m stoked you guys are using backing tracks. You should look into one of the Digi Tech Trio Deluxe pedals. They are great for jamming and could help make some new loops for each demo you guys do!
Thanks for everything you do!
Congrats on the new Strat, Mick. Sounds great
A massive congrats on your New Guitar Day, Mick! Seems like a perfect strat, excited to hear it moving forward!
Yah, not exactly mine as such, but we may be acquainted for a little while. :0)
More info sooooon....
I heard a few seconds of the cheeseball and then skipped right to the next part. Thanks for including time stamps!
I couldn't love your efforts more. Whenever you come up with a silly joke for a script mad can execute it, please do.
The first chord Dan played on the Ripple chorus reminded me of Jukka Tolonen's Funky Nightmare. It instantly started playing in my head.
Morgan Amp!!!!! Yes!!!! Ive got a Morgan PR36 and it just blows my mind. For a 36w amp it has so so much clean headroom is is soooo loud. One of the best clean sounds I've ever heard. Enjoy yours.
I loved my memory lane JR! I moved to another pedal that I also love, but that’s a great delay!
....was watching(listening) to this while driving and the audio going through the work trucks stereo and almost got in an accident because I was laughing so hard!!! "Geez mate, how many generations were there? It was only 1961!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The original memory lane 2 is one of the best analog delay ever made. Jr is amazing too for the size
amazing, absolutely incredible!
Crikey 27:06 to 27:46 could be on a Radiohead album. Beautifully done Dan!
🤓🙏
Holy sheep shit, that was funny! Great gear, too. Can't wait to see a vlog about that Strat. Congrats, Mick!
Great job guys. You got me laughing aloud at work with the Stone Hedge skit. Now I look like a crazy person lol
Join the club!
yeah guys, please bring back the VCQ! We used to learn so much on Mondays! :D
Lovely stuff 👍🏻🎸
+1 for anything from Diamond from a fellow Canadian
I don't know what was going on today, The Strat, the Morgan amp, but that was some of the best clean tones I've heard from you guys.
The Morgan doesn’t have much headroom the way we had it set... but the Two Rock and that Strat. Get in!
Congrats on the Strat Mick- looks a stunner.
With that Highlanderesque lightning strike in the Tone Hedge sequence, all I can say is, "There can be only '61." Here for the Ripply Fall. I'm smitten at the tones and staggered at the price. 😳❤️
Wow that Strat and Cheese Ball sounded great together!
JHS has the coolest pedals out there. Wish I could afford them all.
Okay, that Strat and the Cheese Ball is very reminiscent of Hendrix. Especially with the guitar volume rolled back. It cleans up nicely. Sound great!
that custom is just so incredible
You should play over backing tracks more often it really puts the pedals in to context. Love it!
"They" wisdom of the fahhhmers! Dying! Amazing.
The Memory Lane JR is an awesome delay, great control
Mick, congrats for the buy! This weekend I went to see a gig of one of my local guitar idols, the man responsible for me starting to play electric guitar and blues, and he saw me in the audience and called me up to play a few songs with him and gave me his strat to play ... it was set all wrong compared to how I have my guitars set, and yet it sounded amazing and was very playable... after the show I ask him about the guitar and he tells me it's an all original 62 strat!!! I couldn't believe my luck, so thankful for the opportunity, but also quite sad I most probably won't ever own one - but then again, if I asked him nicely, he'd let me borrow it anytime :D
That's a friend you want to keep around for a lifetime!
@@grega1207 haha, well, given how amazing a musician he is, and that he's an idol and somehow a mentor to me, that's the intention, even if he sold the strat :D
Best delay section I ever had was an AD999 + a Memory Lane Jr.
I'm seriously considering returning to that set-up.
One of the things I really liked was being able to enable tap hold-down to turn on modulation.
I believe the new model ML Jr is going to incorporate EQ like the brilliant tilt EQ that was in the original analog ML models.
Memory lane jr, delay llama, and el Capistan is my delay section. Memory lane jr is one of my favorite delays of all time.
Mega pick n mix. Just a joy to hear fine playing. The Big Cheese>The Ripply awesome lead tones. Last but not least this episode gave us a Funk Playing Adquisition Sindrome.
Legend of Tone Hendge and because headroom.... Great t shirt ideas
Got that Delay....The best of best !!!!
You pulled that strat from a shrubbery; better than receiving it from some watery tart dispensing guitars in a lake. I have the MLjr and the Counterpoint version, as well. Both stellar delays I highly recommend you check out the latter!
I have not commented in a while as I have not felt the need but Wow Wow Wow and Thrice more Wows! Firstly that Strat is the best Strat I have heard you play Mick! I cannot wait to hear more, it really is something else - and I've probably heard all of them you have used on TPS - either through my Studio Monitors or Monitor Headphones.
Secondly that Cheese pedal!! How bloody awesome!! - Please please please do a show on Gated Fuzz / Distortion Pedals through the ages - we have not had one yet -- I loved the Keeley Holy Fuzz in recent years but very much would love a gated fuzz history lesson / look at what is available / has been available.
Loved the silly skit also - and the jamming context really works
Thank you fellas -- Great show -- Genuinly excited by the gear this week.
Thank you Christopher. The Strat really is a special thing. Let’s do the gated thing. It would make Dan and I very happy!
Damn. The Ripply Fall sounds good in every setting. Fantastic.
So many sounds! I love my ripply fall so much! One of my favorite pedals
I know that time is an issue with this format. And an EQ isn't as sexy to talk about as a drive pedal. But that EQ-200 is very special in its ability to have seperate EQs for each stereo channel. In a wet/dry rig, that's awesome!
Still a great show. Love that new Strat!
The Big Muff Germanium 4 does that fuzzy "dying battery" gated thing really well as well.
Stellar fretboard shenanigans guys ,,,
love your guitar mick..sounds amazing.
1961 FENDER STRAT!!!!?!?!?!?!? Congrats Mick!!!!! Can't wait for the video!
Congratulations on the strat Mick! Same year and spec as my recent Denmark street purchase. ‘Am I going to own a pre cbs strat in this lifetime?’ Answer seems to be yes! Enjoy it- it sounds amazing!
Hello! It’s a wonderful guitar on semi-longterm loan.... Congrats on yours!
That Pedal Show - ‘semi-long term’ is officially defined as - ‘at least a quarter century’ ... just saying
I like this the cheese ball. I use it in position 2 with an octaver. It's Perfect for intro, solo... creative stuff. I also use it in position 1 to double a rythm guitar in a mix.
The perceivable jump from mid scoop to mid boost during the jam track on the EQ200 was a great example of the importance of the mid range on a guitar in a mix.
Even listening on a phone without headphones the difference was night and cheese ;)
Totally! Super useful pedal. :0)
Strat-henge... i am dying... When you film the Legend of Tel-caliber, I will buy some special popcorn! Cheers. Just watching this now, 18 Feb 2021 to hear the ripply fall.
I've watched nearly every episode of this show, using headphones, since before it was even a channel. Mick, that is the best sounding guitar you've played. Collings a close second.
I think I agree, but I don’t want to admit it!
@@ThatPedalShow That was evident. :-)
Just ordered my multi pedal from Jam. I can’t wait
Super excited for the Cheese Ball and the Morgan.
OMG! that Strat sounds amazing!
The dynamic from 9:00 - 9:26 is hilarious. Mick is like a giddy school girl and Dan is near pants peeing laughing at Mick's new guitar giddiness. Oh and the JAM pedal phaser sounds awesome. I've had their TubeDreamer 88 and the pedals are very, very well built, parts selection is very high quality.
Can’t wait for a video on that strat!!!
Soon my pretty, soon....
9:48 wooow, what a sound ... and in band context
Wow that Jam and Diamond have my wallet running for its life. Oh the modulation
They are welded to my board
Congratulations Mick. Amaziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing strat
I love how stiff the Cheese Ball sounds in your demo. It sounds a little like an analog octave up into a muff with the tone way up and sustain way down. I kinda want it! I haven't commented for a while, but I wanted you guys to know I still lurk and still love your show, and to thank you for turning me on to JHS and Josh Scott, who I find delightful. You guys are quality, and attract quality.
