GF was founded 1802 in my home town schaffhausen in switzerland. and today they make really cool produkts in differents sectors
Titan you have such a great team. I'm always supper impressed with the content you guys put out. It's such an inspiration for me and I'm sure lots of other people. You and your team deserve a million + subs. 👊👍
I love new machine day! Especially when that new machine is the nicest EDM I have ever seen. I can’t wait to share with you guys what this beast can do, more to come in the near future!
@@boldlyspokennoah307 haha a tungsten carbide coaster would be cool!
@@trevorgoforth8963 bro absolutely cmon you gotta that would be just too badass not to do
GF looks amazing! I am excited to see some of the awesome projects Trevor shows the world in the coming months!!!
Ya’ll think we should have Barry or Beau Nogo run this thing? Don’t worry, it has excellent collision protection😆
Naw, I wouldn’t take the risk! 😂
Btw I absolutely freaking love your 3D printing videos!
@@russ-techindustries 😂😂 Yeah you right, far too risky! Thanks for the support man! More 3D printing videos are in the works👌🏼 I’m glad you are enjoying them!
This EDM slaps harder than any electro beat for sure!
These machines are absolutely amazing, we have a bunch of the 350's and one of the 550's at the shop I work at. They are absolutely awesome machines to work with.
NEW MACHINE DAY 🎉 Looking forward to seeing more from GF!
Can’t wait to see all the projects that come from this new machine!
We have in our machineshop a 35 years old CNC lathe from GF, believe it or not but this machines stil works like new, incredible machines. Greetings from Belgium, Europe.
Nothing but versatility with these EDM's. Super excited to see what projects come of this partnership.
Well, thanks for this. I run FANUC Robo Cut EDMs, and we are getting ready to purchase our first +GF+, and this caused me to feel better about switching over!
New machines are always exciting! GF looks amazing 🤩
GF+ is the crème de la crème, what those machines can accomplish is amazing!
We have one of those wires from that company. Not the exact same but same idea. Absolutely great machine. It will hold .00003 tolerances all day long.
That taper is mental nice work gentlemen!
AHhhhh....... COOL ... I just bought a NEW unrestored Pexto stomp shear for my hobby shop and boy was I excited............... I can only guess how you feel 🤗👍👍👍 when you get a NEW Tool like this. NICE Titan !
my AGIE CUT 200D from 1990 can also intercept the wire at such a distance like this :P machines +GF+ beautiful machines
Love GF, run a few gens of them and they perform great.
SWEET! I know Trevor is gonna COOK up so Amazing parts on the new GF machines! Chika chika uuhhhnnnnnnnn
That’s sick! That thing is light years ahead of the edm I used to run. I ran a Mitsubishi, FX 10.
Love to see all those swiss machines 🇨🇭
Great video team, and fantastic tech..!
You boys have the best toys!
You guys are all brilliant engineers!
When you tell your boss you want a gf, and this shows up at the shop the next day.
These are great machines! My favorite EDM to run to date.
i have used a few edm wire machines and GF are hands down the best all day long
You guys need to get a GF Mikron MILL X or MILL S 5 axis now…. 42k rpm spindle and insane linear motor rapid speed
I used to run Agies two 85 models and 1 was the agie classic 2005 model they were a dream to run. The agie classic didn't come with the prob for levelling the job but it did have the option for squaring up the job with the wire. The technology come a long way since 2005 on those machines. They are best wire EDM's by far.
GF/Agie-Charmilles are hands down the best EDM machines for both wire and sinker.
Hey trevor
Amazing new machine you have there
Can you maybr make a video about the different fixture for the wire edm
I work with a wire edm myself and somitime i struggle with the fixture so i would love to learn more about the different kinds of fixture there are for the wire edm
Absolutely! We will be going over fixturing throughout various videos! Some will be with System 3R and some will be custom made by us 👍🏼
Great machine! We have had many GF machines over the years, always been pretty good.
Such a shame the GF company refuses to support their legacy machines such as the Mondo star series, they don't even provide information anymore. They used to provide service documentation on PDF only 3 years ago, now they do not.
@@captainheat2314 Exactly, same story over and over again, I think it is a bad way of doing business and treatment of your original customers.
Those machines look niiice 👌🏻
We have this machine. We got it in February. It is pretty fantastic, but going from their millenium hmi to the uniqua can be confusing for some people. Definitely way faster to set up than out 1987 Sodick or our 2002 charmilles 440cc
Thank you for this video! I used to have an Agie Classic and an Agie Progress at my old job. I used Esprit to program with. I was wondering what you guys are using for the EDM?
I also had a Mitsubishi FX 10 and an FX 20.
I had my less precise jobs in the older Mitsubishi's and the aerospace jobs in my Agies.
I ended up installing aftermarket DI water filtration systems from a company called Ebbco inc.
To take the load off the Agies own filtration system. When you are running aluminum non stop like I was, the machine did ok but the Ebbco system filters the water and returns it into the machine saving the WEDM from having to clean so much eroded materials. You're not going to want to clean your water work tank and change filters as much as letting the Ebbco system do it's job. I'm sorry if I over shared. I just love you guys and miss WEDM.
Kind regards gentleman
Oh man… GF is in the house at TITANS, now we’re getting serious!
Great timing! In next few months I will start learning how to run our GF EDM machine!. Which CAM will you be using?. We went with Esprit but it's proving to be an very steep learning curve. Can't wait for more videos, keep it up!
That’s exciting! We will be programming this beast using Esprit Edge! We will be making tutorials on every step of the process to help with that steep learning curve. Also, if you have questions our private Facebook group and Discord group can be great resources as well!
@@trevorgoforth8963 Metal cam is also a great option for the GF machines. That’s what we run our P550 on, and no complaints. It’s also pretty economical. Our machine actually came with a trial license on it. We liked it, so we bought it.
It would also be cool to see you probe some mystery parts on the Crysta Apex and export the geometry in native charmille and cut it. That’s an invaluable tool for Reverse engineering. 9:45
4:33 dude on the right is definitely holding a hart. great video.
That thread speed made me giggle with excitement, i run a Cut 20 P and it probably takes longer to thread then half my ops lol.
Red bull racing just released a video showing their machine shop.
Thats the EDM they use
The real leaders for the future of the industry I love your work guys ❤❤❤
Great video 👍
This is a really cool machine! Thinking about the mechanical operation, is it possible to make convex cuts by doing repeated passes with the wires angle shifted? Similarly, is it possible to create curved tapers that start at, say, 30 degrees and end at 60 along the length of the taper? If so, this could make some impossible edm cuts more possible
Thats awesome!
I've been looking at the baxter edm for my hobbyist interest. You are making me jealous with your new GF+.
Finally a edm video :)
Edms are a classic arts of thought. Wire+ space + material + Electricity = spark! Ran the wireEDm and spark both sodick, it were a great experience now missing them sparks! The water will gonna feel the heat, waiting for the game!
You should see how quick our agie advance 3 fills 😂 even the repair guys were blown back, so fast that the fill sensors can't keep up and it will overflow if you go too close to the top....
You can cut carbide with that! Please make a video of that!
Challenge: Make a working flexure with a inhouse use for something. Maybe a microscope fine adjustment.
it's like everyday they get a new machine for the shop
im working with EDM ( 550 p ) and also ( cut 800 pro ) both of them are amazing
Man I wish I had a nice GF!
YASSSS
I was a mold maker I'm 67 and became a sinker specialist. Then took a job with AGIE as an application engineer. There I taught myself wire and bought a machine. Was in business from 85 to 2003. Back then max speeds were about 12 Sq inches per hour. I had 3 AGIE and 3 Fanuc machines. What are the cutting speeds now. Haven't run a machine in 15 years I retired early.
We have a P 350 at my work and the cutting is so much more stable than their older generator but we have been having some issues with the dielectric system being too sensitive and it cuts the machine off with random errors about the fan very confusing also does not like coated wire as much but absolutely flies on standard brass
Great machine! What wise is that you mention, something you grave to table to hold the stock you go machine?
I worked about 6 years with EDM machines from GF and Mitsubishi and my opinion is that Mitsubishi is the better overall package.
Both companys making good machines don´t get me wrong but the service from Mitsubishi is in my opinion a lot better than from GF.
It was nothing uncommen for me to wait 2-3 days until GF respond to your calls while Mitsubishi calls you back WITH a strategy for your problem in about 0,5-1h.
Same if you need someone for a repair on your machines. The longest time we were waiting for someone to show up from GF was over a week and the machine was standing still...
And what I love about our Mitsubishi is that you´re able to use 25kg wire rolls (about 60.300m or 197.834 feet).
But GF machines are still very good machines, only the service is terrible. I hope you make better experiences in the US :D
GF service is why a lot of companies have replaced their GFs with EDMs from the Japanese companies. You tell a customer that you obsoleted a machine and won't service it, they won't buy another one.
The biggest change throughout mfr-ing & products as a whole is the information exchange between mfrs & consumers (B2B in this case). Whereas pre-2010, R&D was completely unconcerned with their consumers-desires, now, one, need only have a popular YT channel to persuade companies to consider ideas. Changes that previously took DECADES due to apathy & arrogance are iterated upon continuously ... sometimes in real-time. It's hard to imagine this contemporary, iterative feedback loop of dev won't massively accelerate tech worldwide over the next decade.
Very cool;)
George Fisher makes a bunch of PVC piping where I work.
Weird question... Can you do thread cutting with graphite EDM? Would that ever be a viable option?
Threading on Sinker EDM with +GF+ FORM is easy, so long as the trode is well made.
As long as you have ability to orbit or make a circle.
You want to use copper infiltrated tungsten if possible.
Graphite electrodes are bulshit all the way around they have no redeeming value .
just bought a new Fanuc ic400. Looked pretty hard at GF but where they fail is supporting older machines. As such the value of your used machine falls off a cliff at 15 years. Fanuc still supports there first machine. But GF's are awesome units no doubt.
M following you for a few days and here you came on wire EDM...If possible please do trial for gear cutting ( Die shape)and let me know is it achieving DIN CLASS 4...
Wait you're telling me this thing wires itself? That's next level productivity
If anyone has ever ran a wire EDM you'd understand that the set up process can be the most extensive part of the op, from spooling your machines to controlling your water with chillers even the door cover can be some serious pains on some old EDM machines. All of these seem really fluid with this allowing for fast setups which gets you ahead on EDM jobs as they often take a long cutting operation.
@@khalzard2964new edm machines are extremely fast to set up. You shouldn’t have to touch the water chiller and putting on a new spool of wire should take a few minutes tops.
Have you guys tried cutting hyperboloids with edm? I have an automotive component that’s in the design phase that I’m trying to make use of edm to make more accurate and easier to machine.
It depends on whether you want to do it inside or outside. For the outside version, you could simply connect a rotary axis and rotate with insane accuracy and surface finish. This makes it possible, in all conductive materials, to put down the smallest diameters.
That much taper without having to switch flush cups must be nice lol
ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC!
Crazy!
Last time I went to a machine tool show I tried to get one of the EDM companies(Charmilles If I remember correctly 🤔)
to give us a machine for testing......for some reason they said "no".
How to calculate the cost of parts for EDM?
Great vice from 3R! Probably assembled and tested by me in sweden 👊
New machine days are the best days.
Impressive machine.... I have a project we can do on the GF if you guys are taking new clients ? I would love to work with you guys ..
What is the price for the machine ?
Gilroy pls create a shop in germany.
i wanna work with u guys :D
just insane team.
The controller is a little slow, especially when turning on. Other than that, it holds microns all day.
Get with me. I run 3 of the largest wire edm machines that gf offers.
Cut 1250p just over 30” of z travel. Look up extreme wire edm in Grandville mi
Please!! Make an EDM sliding star Texas flag or Titan eagle in the $100 range>
Lel we have a plastic tube welding mashine from GF didnt know they made wire edm. tfw no gf
America discovers Switzerland 🇨🇭 We also make the best guns 😊
Why didn’t you guys go with Sodick?
Wire EDM is easy. All the electrode you want and perfect flushing. Show us Sink EDM Deep blind ribs. cashew gates, fast Z-C axis jumpimg, cittimg turbulators holes on blicks , wavehuides and spinnerettes. BTDT Tomp :=)
I worked as an Applications Engineer for GF. Awesome machines, but it was the worst company I've ever worked for. Also good luck with their service, it's terrible.
Buy a Sodick. They're just as good and are a pleasure to work with.
i d'ont like those clamping system to much fantasy lol.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!!!!
2:42 Other words exist that more accurately describe the situation.
Super Symmetrical Super Symmetry 🦃💙🏵🇺🇸✡️✝️🕋🌎🌍🌏🌞🌕✨
Mazda rotary housings!!!!
Like to compare EDM with laser water jet for tolerances well i already know water jet is better for 5d printing
cost??
What is its price?
so cool! its good to see it back in the USA! but them Germans huh. they do everything first class. btw i love your enthusiasm its contagious! Machines of the gods!
And Sodick enters the chat…
So excited to be partnered with GF+! These machines are so well built and I can’t wait to see what they are capable of!
I can imagine. I work in a medical shop and a lot of the new machines that have been brought in have been GFs, either mills or DMPs. What I've heard from people running them, they're great.
Yes brother GF machines are from another world.
