I remember growing up in Tonga listening to some of the music playing on the radio and not knowing those bands were from 'Uvea and that was like they were talking Tongans lol. Malie malie tau'olunga ta'ahine
When the music talks about the culture it only makes me cry...makes me remember Tonga..sii foi paongoo.,A dancer can only connect with the lyrics and the stories behind it....lovely

Wow its so beautiful but the sound the women makes is the same sound I’ve heard from Māori warriors trying to kill eachother, that’s how they laughed in a scary way, but enough of that, beautiful song, loved it
@@tiotiwilliams8311 nope history doesn't agree with you! The coral stones that built the langis (pyramids) in Tonga where kings of Tonga are buried were brought to Tonga from Futuna by the people etc. Futuna islands use to be under the control of the Tu'i Tonga in which they bring tribute of first fruit every year to the Tu'i Tonga. It wasn't just the Futunas it included other islands too.
The reason why their language is similar to Tongans and also it's culture it's because the Tui tonga ( Tongan kings) reign it's power and empire through out the South Pacific oceans hundreds and hundreds of years ago and uvea ( Futuna and Wallis) was one of them hence why we have very similar culture and language. But it was later colonised by French
+zz450 Professor Okusitino Mahina, a very well known and respected Tongan anthropologist did his doctorate "Tala e Fonua" and elaborates on the Tu'i Tonga. You might wish to read his doctorate paper submitted to Australian National University and take note where the very first Tui Tonga came from. Just a heads up, before us Polynesian arrived, there was already Tui Pulotu (Fiji), then came Tui Manu'a (Samoa) and then later Tu'i Tonga approx. 13-16 Century. That chronology of the Tui kingdoms in the Pacific has always been understood and accepted. The Samoans themselves acknowledged Tu'i Tonga ruled in Samoa. The current Tonga Royal family is referred to as Tu'i Kanokupolu, Kanokupolu literally means flesh from Upolu (A'ano Upolu in Samoan). Also note Futuna aligned itself with Ha'amoa, but Uvea aligned itself with Tu'i Tonga. Tongan Professor Mahina states that clearly in his research. Nothing to do with "Hard headed Samoans", but more knowing Polynesian history as well Polynesian Etymology. Also note throughout Polynesia, Tonga means south. In Tongan it means South too. This hints at another place/nation being the center. Tagaloa who created the Tu'i Tonga line resided in Lagi, acknowledged by Tongan academics as referring to Ha'amoa see this link from Tonga www.loauuniversity.edu.to/index.php/en/using-joomla/extensions/components/content-component/article-category-list/91-social-activism-2011 In reo Te Maori o Aotearoa, South is Tai Tonga, North is Tai Tokerau. From this you can see this refers back to Western Polynesia and Te Maori links back to their ancestral home of Hawaiki. Malo aupito
pARCCxVILLAGE CRIppIN good to know that’s why Uvea is clean and beautiful people and futuna moheuli lol 😝 hahaha, anyway no one was talking about futuna Tongan has family in Uvea and futuna they left Tonga and married there so really Uvea is Uvea and Tonga is Tonga though in Tonga we have Mua, Hahake, hihifo, exactly what’s in Uvea it’s in Tonga we are Uvea Tonga so I’ll take out Futuna and call it Uvea Tonga instead lol.
@hotboyjameshh Love our brothers and sisters around the Pacific Islanders . Uvea very close culture s n language to us Tongan s . So happy to understand their songs .Their costumes in faiva the same. We all truly blood related love Polynesian islanders.Malie tauolunga taahine.❤🙏🥰😘
Le chant accompagnant la danse est très beau! Je pense que ça a du compter aussi au moment de choisir le vainqueur. Cela n'enlève en rien quant à la prestation de la demoiselle qui danse très bien ;-)
This is a performance every year, a contest between the best dancers from a village selected on each district (Mu'a/Hahake/Hihifo) in front of the Residence of the King of 'Uvea. Each year, the choir of each group (village) composite their own special and traditional song for their dancers...so i don't think you can find this song it was just sang for that unique occasion.
I've probably seen this five hundred times, I LOVE IT!!!

What country are they from because their language and costumes are very similar to the Tongans.
from wallis and futuna islands
Salote Mafi Lanivia Uvea (wallis) are descendents from Tonga.. Futuna are descendents from Samoa... this is during the Tui Tonga reign
@@kavakoula612 other way around evidence shows the Wallis and Futuna was inhabited before Tonga

yes Deez the Tongans ruled between the 13th and 16th Century just like they did in Samoa. However it's believed they are from Samoa.
