  • Hey there! In today’s video I’m sharing with you Language Arts curriculum for grades 5-8! I’ve had so many questions about what I’m using, so here it is!!
    ✨New here? Introduce yourself in the comments!
    I’ll go first:
    I’m Christina, a public high school English teacher, turned homeschooling mom, turned middle school English teacher at a small Christian school. I’m hybrid homeschooling + Christian-schooling 5 kids (ages 1, 2, 6, 10, & 13).
    I love the Charlotte Mason homeschooling approach, and many others, but I’d say I’m more of an eclectic homeschooler-mixing the different aspects of homeschool styles that I love-living books, literature-based learning, Montessori, and so much more!
    Just as I brought what I learned through teaching into homeschooling, I am so excited to bring what I’ve learned homeschooling back into teaching!
    Whether you are considering homeschooling, new to homeschooling, considering alternative ways to educate your child, or just looking for some encouragement and inspiration for your motherhood journey, I hope you feel welcome and encouraged here 🤍

    Thank you for your video! I am a homeschool mom of 6 and this video was so encouraging! We love the Heroes of the Faith Then and now! Our favorite was George Muller and Wilfred Grenfell, we will have to do Brother Andrew this year...The Smuggler! Little Pilgrim was a favorite bedtime story time for us. Thank you for sharing such wonderful curriculum, I am going to look into the character studies!

    Love your channel! Homeschool mom of 4 here. We’ve been homeschooling for almost five years. I found your videos when searching for homeschooling in NY videos, and I’ve started adding Gather Round to our curriculum after learning about it on your channel. I’ve always been a “traditional” curriculum teacher and have loved what unit studies have brought to our homeschool.

      @@miss._d8537 You actually need the textbook, whereas the workbook is optional! You could do things in a notebook from the textbook-which is where all of the readings are, but the workbook has a lot more!

    I'm using Abeka for my kiddos. It's been well worth it too. A bit pricey, but worth it. LOL Your channel is so encouraging. We have some things in common. I work full-time plus homeschool. Best decision ever.

    I have TGATB question? As an ELA teacher does TGATB feel like public school ish or do you think it really has a Charlotte mason flare to it? We are CM homeschoolers and I've graduated one but was looking at this curriculum. Thanks I'm advance.

    • @RootedHomeLife
      @RootedHomeLife  Před 2 lety

      That’s a great question! I would say it’s a tough one for me to answer because I feel like people don’t always agree on what’s considered Charlotte Mason, but I do have a a flip through of the curriculum that may help!

    Thanks a lot for the very informative video. I was searching online for syllabus and curriculum for 8th graders, and I found this video. I really need your help! This is my first time teaching 8th grade in Utah. Once you respond to this comment, I will expand on what I really need.
