  • In this video I install the bargain $59 2mx2m awning I bought from Anaconda.
I also make my own (badly cut) channel strap to attach the awning to the roof rack. I could have bought some channel / track / t-bolts but chose to justify my collection of hardware and tools by DIYing the job. :-)

Greetings and welcome to My Pajero Sport.
This channel is devoted to my 2016 Mitsubishi QE Pajero Sport. In other countries it's also known as a Shogun Sport or a Montero Sport.
I've never owned a "proper" 4WD before so this will be an adventure to share with you.
I have owned a Subaru Liberty / Legacy Gen 2 AWD.
When I was an apprentice motor mechanic I did a lot of work on Land Rovers (Series 2 & 3), Land Cruiser FJ40 and 6WD Nubian fire engines.
I've also had several AWD SUVs such as the Holden Captiva, Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Outback but they were fully maintained company cars and I didn't do much more than put fuel in them.
I haven't swung on a spanner professionally for 30+years so expect some poor choices, mistakes and downright stupidity.
I'm sure it will be fun.

Save up a lot of mucking around when u cut thread just cut off where u want don’t worry about dies or nuts. Grind the thread end on to your bench grinder wheel. What you are doing by doing this instead of filing or grinding around the thread is forming the burr to the center of the bolt. You will never pick up even into alloy.
Hope that makes your next bolt cut down less stressful.
Awsome cheap awning just bought there 270 for my boys setup. Cheers

I agree. I probably couldn't be bothered getting the bench grinder off the shelf.
I did Aug-Oct camping in The Gulf Country and Northern Territory and it did a great job.

You say putting the bolts throught he bar is bodgy then you can't even cut a straight line in steel. You faffed around to reinvent the wheel when there was no need to.

      I know I can't cut a straight line.
There's a lot of things I can't do but I have a crack and it costs me nothing but time.
