Well there is a great player that is a miracle and that's Hancko. The miracle is that he still is at Feyenoord. 35 or 40 million pound. he was great in the dutch league but he is also great in the europa league and championsleague. on top of that he was one of the best defenders this last European championsship. and he can play left centre defender and leftback. even left winger back ( i mean in a 5-3-2 or 3-5-2. he scores pretty often too and give assists. where can you find a player like this at the moment exept for him.
I think you bring in his successor and use VvD to help train him up...then, over the next couple of years, you slowly transition the younger lad in and VvD out. Just makes sense to start reducing the amount of minutes played by Virg (to keep him fit/fresh enough to get the best out of him) and trained up a future prospect for when VvD moves on.

@@rheinhardtgrafvonthiesenha8185 at prem level you really can’t afford to have an attitude like that, so I’d say it’s proof he does need to be replaced. But then again it’s always been an issue and Liverpool have somehow done OK inspite of him for all these years now.
He was still by far the best CB I. The league last season and all his individual stats show that. Just because he doesn’t run around like a headless chicken, doesn’t mean he’s acting nonchalant.

I have always felt that VVD was overrated. Remember watching him even back at Southampton and wondering what all the fuss was about and never understood why Liverpool would even buy him. He has always had an incredibly negative attitude, he is a defender that can’t tackle, which is just a strange thing to witness, and whenever he makes mistakes (which he has always done quite often) he blames everyone but himself. It is crazy that he’s considered one of the world’s best defenders by anyone.

@@NickLoTurco I watch quite a few. I watch all the prem teams when they are on TV. I’d personally take many premier league defenders over Van Djyk. Like I said he makes way too many mistakes and he can’t tackle, he’s just lucky that he often shows decent anticipation, so at least his constant clumsy fouls on attackers happen before they get inside the box.
