Rato Machindranath Jatra, also known as the Bunga Dyah Jatra, isa traditional festival celebrated by the Newar community in lalitpur, Nepal. It is one of the oldest and most significantfestivals in Nepal, and it is celebrated to honor Rato Machindranath,the god of rain and good harvest.
The festival is a month-long event that takes place during themonths of April and May. The main attraction of the festival is theprocession of the chariot carrying the idol of Rato Machindranathfrom its home in Bungamati to its temporary abode in Jawalakhel.The chariot, which is over 25 meters tall, is pulled through thestreets of Kathmandu by thousands of devotees.
